Road Trip to the ER...

On Tuesday morning I was awaken out of a deep sleep by this sharp weird pain in my right side I then went to the bathroom thinking maybe it was a gas pocket I ended up dry heaving for hours along with the pain getting worse I tried taking a warm shower to ease the pressure. I did attempt to lay back down to sleep but that was not happening. I also kept trying to walk around because I kept thinking it was a gas pocket well a little later I had a bowel movement so there went my gas pocket theory ....Something was just not right I knew it deep inside I just needed to act.

  I finally called Dr. P around 6:45am left her a message but could not wait any longer I called my aunt of course she was already gone for work so I called my best friend Kim she heard my voice and went into panic mode that is what she does best..She was coming to get me to take me to the ER.

This is when it all hits home we are a family here in our WLS community! 
While waiting for Kim to arrive I had gotten a text message from Dennis told him I was on my way to the ER he called Susan who called Stefanie and by the time I was in the Er Dr. P had called said go to eh ER my girlfriends Lisa and Kim were taking me they talked to Susan on the phone and they all met at the ER ...

One I was settled in the room and given pain drugs they let my extended family come back to see me...I cried when Susan came in and she gave me a comforting hug then the tears started all over when Stefanie came in ..I was scared because I never complain about pain and this was some serious pain.

I ended up having a CAT scan it turns out I have kidney stones and so far have not passed them but the drugs have been great. The girls all stayed with me to I was discharged from the hospital. Susan then came over with soup for me to have for dinner and as I got home I had phone calls and text messages  from Stefanie,Susan, Tammy,Shauna,Linda,Kim Burke,Dennis and HG  and others all wanting to know what they could do for me and what did I need from them  ....If this is not a family I don't know what is...

Knowing I was not alone this week has made the pain just a little bit better to bear ....So when in doubt if we are a family just wait to you need us and you will see that you are part of an amazing group of people.

So who wants to have my kidney stone made into a necklace????

We sure are a family!! So glad that you are OK and the problem is identified. Hopefully it passes quickly with as litl e pain as possible. *hugs* if I can do anything from afar don't hesitate to ask!

Let's hope the new slogan isn't "kidney stones are a girls best friend!!"   Hey..if you paint the stones pretty colors, I will put an order in....actually, if you can get one set in a ring, I will take one, I need rings...mine are all too big!!  Talk about BLING!!

Seriously though,  I am sooo glad you are feeling better....it's scary getting a call or text with that kind of news...its hard not being able to make the pain go away for someone else.  God bless narcotics aye??

BTW...did you have any signs over the last few days or weeks that something was going on, or did it just spring itself on you out of the blue??

It just came on me out of the blue..and I wi**** on no one the pain was that bad.

I have heard the pain is beyond belief!! 

You poor thing!! I've never experienced stones myself (thank god) but my sister has and her**** her out of the blue, too - glad the drugs are working and hope you pass those nasty little things soon. I'm so glad you had so much support and comfort - should have known something was up when I didn't see you post for a couple of days.

Well, first of all, let me just say that I had to look at your profile to make sure you were the Beth that I know....I didn't recognize you.  You look absolutely amazing.  Second, I looked at all your pictures and EVERYONE looks absolutely amazing.  I really need to get to a support group meeting.  Third, I am so glad you are feeling better.  I have been a victim to kidney stones....multiple times.  They are no fun...I can vouch for that.  Fourth, and most importantly, what an amazing group of friends/family you/we have.  With just one phone call you were flooded with an expression of love and support that goes beyond words.
