Hmm .Lets see.. my best friend was not anyone particular thing. Family ,my bf. But i think the one thing that helped was the little liquid medication cups. Id throw down an oz here and there to help me get all my fluids in. Well.. I didnt throw em down like a shot but it helped to keep myself constantly sipping and drinking.

Your sense of taste will change post surgery and you may get tired of water and liquids - but hang in.  My favorite / biggest help  then (and even now almost 13 months out) and continues to be Donna P!!  A week after my surgery, I was on the Barix Boards and happened ( on accident) another blogger who had her RNY one week before me with the same surgeon (Dr. Boe).  We immediately became friends and now sisters for life.

Donna doesnt really blog here on OH or Barix anymore - but we still talk and email and chat online several times every single day.  She is my rock and I am hers.  We talk about all kinds of good, bad, embarrassing things  - some things that even I wouldnt dare post on a public site.  Without Donna I cant say I dont think the stages of this journey would have gone as well as they have.

I think it worked well for us because we were so close in our surgeries.  Of courese these boards are always good too.

If I recall correctly, I was miserable until I reached full liquids.  I had so much jello and chicken broth that I wanted to puke.  I was hungry during the entire 2 weeks of clear liquids.  When I finally was able to have full liquids, my best friend was blended and strained chunky soups, all natural peach nectar juice with protein powder added.  Blended and strained Dinty Moore Turkey Stew.  I found Chicken Base to be much more satisfying than bouillion.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

pepperment tea was my BESTEST friend in the whole world.  it was the only thing that went down smoothly, and it helped with my gas pain.  funny thing is, now i can't stand the stuff.  i don't even like the smell of it anymore.
