Curves
I went to Curves 3 years before WLS surgery and it was good for me when I was 270, it kept me motivated but after surgery I needed more of a challenge but now I have a gym in my home that I use all the time, I went out and bout a good treadmill, elipictical, and a recumbent bike, I have the total gym and my favorite the Wii Fit.
if you workout at home you have to be discipliined to do it all the time or else your equipment are just clothes hangers

I agree with Cleo. My mom is overweight and has a lung disease. To keep her active and lungs as strong as she can, she loves Curves. She hasn't lost more than 20 pounds in the year or so she has gone but FEELS 100% better and more flexible and active. She says she could step up a notch or so and probably lose more weight but has to be careful of her breathing but it works perfect for her.
My sister goes also, she lost about 30 pounds or so. She liked it alot because they helped her change her routine and work on certain things.
I guess it depends on what you are after. I have NEVER belonged to a gym since my surgery. My old job had one we could use and I just did the treadmill and eliptical everyday to get some exercise. But since I dont' get that anymore, I think I will join a gym once baby is born. Maybe the "Y".
Good luck finding what you are looking for.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
I went to curves about 2 years before i had WLS, and it worked. I lost a lot of inches and about 25 lbs in only a months time. It's good if you want to shrink and see what shape you will take. After a short time though, the machines start to feel easy because you have become stronger. It's really your discretion, but yes, it does work.
