Went grocery shopping today

I went to Wegman's tonight and stocked up on healthy foods and lots of sugar free jello, broth, tea and stuff in preparation for the next 6-7 weeks pre-op.  I also made chicken soup from leftovers and strained all the "soup junk" out so I would have a nice flavorful broth to sip on.  I put that in the freezer for later.  YUMMY!  I have my protein samples and lots of ideas from you guys for things to do once I finally get to have the surgery.

I also saw this resistance band thing that comes with a DVD.  I bought it to go along with the other exercise videos/DVD's that I already own.  This is the first strength/toning one that I have bought.  I plan to go to a few gyms in the area to get prices and see if they have personal trainers that can work with me on a regular basis.  I want someone who is going to kick my butt into shape!!! I NEED someone to do that!!   Can someone arrange for Bob or Jillian from Biggest Loser to show up on my doorstep and drag me to the gym every day?

Anywhooo.. gotta go for now.  I want to check out other posts and then call it a night.  I have to work tomorrow for a full day and be able to stay awake to see my last New Year's Eve as the "Fat Chick"!! Can't believe it!!

i read somewhere that people who made the broth and strained soups froze them in ice cube trays for easy proportioned thawing.

Hi Lisa,

It's great that you're getting yourself prepared like you are. It will only help make your pre op and recovery period that much easier. Nicole gave you an excellent suggestion with the ice cube trays. I never thought to do that when I had my surgery and it definitely would have come in handy.

You seem really excited about getting your exercise in which is wonderful. I can't arrange for Bob and Jillian to be on your doorstep but I can arrange for them to be on your TV...I have The Biggest Loser workout DVD and you're more than welcome to have a copy if you'd like one. Just PM me your address and I'll try to get it in the mail within the next few days for you.

Good luck to you and keep us posted!

P.S....You're fluffy my dear, not F-A-T....Please don't say such terrible things about yourself. You're worth much more than that : )

Oh and Liz.....I didn't forget about your DVD's....I'm bringing them with me on the 17th unless you'd like them sooner then just let me know and I'll throw them in the mail this week.

Val - Thats fine thanks!!

Lisa - sounds like you are doing great! When I was "gym shopping" in the beginning the YMCA was the best price. I haven't joined one since we moved because nothing is convenient.

Best of luck!

You are doing great!
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Lisa - one thing that I forgot to mention - decaf peppermint tea - it is a LIFESAVER post op!! Helps so much with the gas and nausea!

Thanks to all of you for advice.  I actually have not stuck  the broth in the freezer yet, so I think I will hit the dollar store and get some ice cube trays. Great idea!!

I actually do have one of the biggest loser DVD's.  I think I tried to do it once and it kicked my arse.  Maybe now I'll be able to do it.  I belonged to the YMCA before and liked it, except that I am not sure about the availability of a personal trainer.   I'll have to go back there and ask questions since my situation is totally different now.  the Y is also good because they have a pool and I love to swim!

Peppermint tea sounds yummy too.  I'll have to stock up on that too!!

Thanks everyone. I'm so glad I found this forum. You all have been wonderful!!
