I have never found any ham that didn't already have sugar in it... not even talking about the glazes on it... so we just don't have ham anymore for holiday dinners here... and to me it isn't worth ruining the holiday by dumping lol... so we either fry a turkey or do roast beef...

I just looked at a ham in my fridge. 2oz would be 60 calories and 5 grams sugar 10.5 grams of protein. That`s baking it as is no added glaze. Wouldn`t the sugar at that rate be OK?
It`s a smoked ham in Natural Juices no****er.

Kimmie,  I just saw that you had your surgery at Barix, call and get the advice you need from the nutritionist there.  I tolerate ham just fine, though I'm not a big fan of it, nor do I eat it often.  Good luck.

We had a pre-basted spiral ham the other weekend - I just stayed away from the 'outsides' of the ham and ate the inner meat - I didn't have any problem with it at all, and I know I dump on sugars. Plus chances are you won't be able to eat the portion they suggest anyway - I know I can't. So I would go ahead with the ham if you can tolerate meats like that and just stay away from the outter areas where the sugars and glazing are.

My mom also glazes her ham and I had a very small piece on Thanksgiving , but as Kathy said I just ate the part that was closest to the bones and not the sweet glaze. Make your usually recipes just use less glaze and eat the inside portion .

Get a good smoked boneless and there`s no need for glaze. Surf the net and I`ll bet somebody has a recipe for sugar free. Maybe work in some Jack Daniels, there`s no sugar in that?

thanks all for your input.   i had my 6month apt today with dr P and did ask the nut about it and she said she is not sure since she doesn't eat ham and noone ever asked her before,   i guess i'll just cook it normal and just eat the inside stuff. i wasn't much for the edges anyway.

thank you
