Plastic card for dining out

I saw a card somebody had. It was a plastic card like a credit card and had this written on it. "My name is ____ I am a bariatric surgery patient under the care of Dr _____. Please allow me to order off the child's menu. Thank you."

Great convenience without getting into an elaborate discussion.

Anybody know where to get one?

I have heard of them before.

I believe Barix gives them to their patients (but I never got one some how....) and I have noticed that many of the childrens menus are things that are all carbs (like mac and cheese) fat laden like hot dogs and sub standard burgers etc.

I'm just as happy getting a soup or a salad...or ordering off the "big girls" menu as hubby calls it and having meals for at least 3 sittings for me.

I did get one from Barix--and have never used it!! I usually order from the regular menu and have lunches/dinners for a few days after too!!! I really never thought about doing it(ordering from the children's menu) honestly--I'm not much for chicken fingers!! LOL

But I guess you could get the card from a doctor if one was so inclined to do so...

It never even dawned on me to order from the kids menu! lol
I guess I just liked the idea of having the left overs for several meals... that and they seem to feed kids lots of sugar and fried things these days-- scary.

...what  Pam said....  I have found that the child's menu is EXYREMELY unhealthy---deep fried chicken, french fries, lots of carbs. and fat.  Instead I order (wisely) from the 'big people' menu and have meals for several days...I am  14 months out....

I have one of those cards that Barix gave me post op. However I'd really rather not make it an issue when I'm out., I have asked for an appetizer size portion and some places will do that. If they dont I just eat what I can and leave the rest.

I waste a tremendous amount of food post op. Scott says I just push my food around on the plate and never really eat it. he might be right.

I used my card once or twice right after surgery.  But everyone is right, the children's menu is not WLS friendly.  Several times I have asked if I can have half of the regular portion but that always involved speaking with the manager.  I finally just gave up and now order from the regular menu and take the leftovers home.
