OT... This guy I'm seeing
OK, so I've been dating this guy for about a month and I was beginning to think he was cheap. Being the young single woman that I am, I didn't really feel like dealing with a really cheap guy.
So..... I brought up to him that I thought he may be a little cheap. How should I say this? We... exchanged words about it and the conversation ended with him saying that " he's done more for people he likes less than me" and that was the last word on the subject.
So tonight he showed up at my house with a gift in hand. It was a nice box set of perfume and a wonderfully scented candle. The only issue is that he left the tag on. I can't help this nagging feeling that he did it on purpose to prove that he's not cheap ( the gift set was $60 supposedly and the candle was 20 allegedly) All in all its a $80 gift. I SHOULDN"T know that right?
IF he paid for it ( i'm not suggesting he stole it, but i feel like he got it from a friend or something who didn't like it and never used them)
OK, so am I being a first class &*^( or is he being cheap the way I think he is and trying to prove that he's not?

He's an A$$
And besides...if he's done more for people he's like LESS than you....than obviously you are to good for him.
That's my humble opinion. But I've been called a first class witch with a capital B before...so take it or leave it ;-)

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
Hi Nubianlilly - you dont know me but I lurk and respond occassionally. My take is this - and I am not being a smart a$$ is... get a complete background check on him. If it doesn't feel right it probably isn't and since it is still early in your dating relationship you can still get out. (Keep the perfume and candle though )

That's the fun thing about dating. When they turn into toads, you drop them, and move on! LOL. Don't lower your expectations because you "want" to like him. People give thier best in the beginning of a relationship. If this is his best, I wouldn't want to see his worst! LOL

Trust your instincts. I learned the hard way that when your gut tells you to run, you better run fast. And...always listen to Dr. Norm...if he says the guy is a douchbag, he is a douchbag.
You deserve a real man...a man that is going to fall all over himself to make you happy (and I am not speaking solely of material possessions)...not show up with a re-gift.
