how long does it take?
I finished my 6 mths. with my PCP in July and had my psych eval and my nut appt. before I actually had my appt with the surgeon and I am scheduled for my surgery on Nov. 11th. Hope that helps. Oh yeah, I have BC/BS too. They were very quick with the approval, paperwork was turned in on Thurs. and had my approval on Fri. Good luck

It really depends on your surgeon and the hospital and your insurance. They all have to be on the same page. My timing was fast, two years ago at Barix. Some patients had a different surgeon and they had a longer wait, at the same facility.
Call your surgeon's office and ask for this information.
Good luck,
Trish

Like the ladies before me posted, it all depends on your surgeon and facility. I didn't have to do a 6 month prior. I was relatively quick with my referrals and the like. I attended my initial consult in March of 2007. During April I went to my PCP, Cardiologist, Psych Eval, and labs. Had my surgery in May. Oh yeah, I was approved for my insurance in 4 days. I have IBC (Independence Blue Cross).
Good luck.
