Hey guys,

Has anyone else experienced this? When I had my surgery I was consistently being measured at 5'6". Since I have lost all my weight, everyone, my doctors office, the Army, everyone has been measuring me at 5'8".

Did anyone else grow an inch and a half when they lost their weight??

woohoo if gaining height is a side affect of WLS then i'm doing cartwheels here....i have always said i was 5' 2" but the weight loss clinic measured me at 5' 1".   I'd be happy to lose pounds and gain a few inches in height!!!

I am thinking it is because of the compression of the cartiledge in your knees and spine. All the extra weight squishes everything together so when you take the weight off it doesn't squish anymore. Well at least this is what my moms guess is. She is a nurse so I will take her best guess!! LOL

I am kinda liking the extra inch and a half. Especially since the guy I am seeing is 6'5" LOL. Even with the extra height I can still wear 4 inch heels and have to look up to kiss him! It's GREAT!!

yes, my husband was recently measured for height and was taller than when he had surgery. Jan will be his 3 yr anniversary of WLS.

I do hope that does not happen for me, I'm very happy being 5 ft tall and don't want to grow after I have my surgery

Well, well, well.

Looked what the cat dragged in.

In addition to what others have mentioned, as your weight drops, your posture adjusts, you stoop less, and your spine decopresses slightly.

Yeah Keep your cat away... I am all clawed up now! LOL

Yeah I guess that makes sense too. I do find myself walking taller and looking straight ahead instead of at the ground when I walk now.

Hey Froggy,
Well hot damn I need to get measured. Ha
I'm a 5' 11 3/4" man who always wanted to be at least 6 foot.
Lord knows everyone keeps saying "You look taller".
Maybe I'm there.
That will improve my BMI too.
