Ok, so I get on the board daily. I read up, chime in here and there. But you may notice that I NEVER post on the "food accountability" threads or "Exercise" threads. And there is a reason for that.

I don't count my calories/fat/protein. I don't have an exercise routine.

I go for a good walk a few times a week. But nothing on a schedule. And I don't do any hardcore exercising.

I eat what I want. Granted, there are many things I CANNOT eat or I would be spending hours in the bathroom but if I want a handful of dorito's, I eat them. It's not an obsessive habit but I don't deny myself.

So my question is....................

AM I THE ONLY ONE OUT HERE LIKE THIS?

I feel so isolated at times with conversations because I don't eat/exercise the way it seems most of you do. I am 4 years out. Lost 110 lbs. Have maintained my weight. (except the few preggo pounds the last 3 months) But overall, I am great with my weight goal.

So am I doing something wrong? LOL. I feel like I should be eating cottage cheese every morning and eating like a bird. Now I don't eat a ton by any means.........LOL. But I guess after all this time of reading posts about intake and exercise, I feel like something is wrong with me. Ha ha.

Just curious if  anyone is the same as me or if I am hanging out there alone!

Probably because you are 4 years out you don't really need to track the way some of us newer post-ops do. I don't post on the eating thread a lot but I do track my food on a tracker for the nuts at Barix and the personal nut I see. I try to exercise on a regular schedule but that's not always possible either - or just not done - anything is possible, I guess. But it sounds like you're maintaining - and you're obviously pretty healthy since you were able to get pregnant and seem to be having a good pregnancy.

Don't feel isolated - we all post different places for different reasons - maybe some of us need to be held more accountable for what we're eating or doing for exercise than others. There are tons of people on this board that post daily for lots of stuff but don't post their exercise and food - yet they do work out and track. Guess its just a personal preference.

Nope. You're not alone. Since day one I have not deprived myself of anything I had a hankering for. I don't count calories or anything else. I only watch my protein and of course, I won't eat something that will make me sick but like you, if I want dorito's then I have a few. I don't deny myself anything but I do try to limit eating the not so good for ya stuff.

I don't believe that you HAVE to cut out all bad foods from your life in order to be successful after the surgery. Yes, you need to make better choices and I live and eat each day as though I was just another normal person. I'm almost 6 years out, I've lost 255 lbs, am a size 4 and I have kept the weight off for many years. It's worked for me so far but that's just me. There are others who don't believe in treating themselves because for them it might make them lose control and they'll revert back to their old ways and that's fine. We're all different and I think we all work our tools differently. As long as we're eating healthy for the most part and losing/maintaining our weight then I see nothing wrong with it.

As far as the exercise, I used to have a regular plan that I followed until I was diagnosed with sacro-iliac joint dysfunction. It's very difficult for me to work out the way I was so I haven't in a few months. It hasn't hurt me yet thankfully but if I start to see that scale go up, you can bet your bippy that I'll start up again even if it means I'll need to take 20 painkillers to get through it.

You don't need to follow what everyone else is doing to have success. You're your own person and need to do what works for you.

I am personally only just barely a year out.  If I don't pre plan a menu the truth of the matter is, I wouldn't come close to my protein goals.  That's not to say that when I'm at work and somebody has a bag of doritos out I don't take a few.  I don't generally post it because normally it's after the fact. of the pre planed menu.  If I feel I really went over bored - or if I chose to eat only their food and ignore my menu totally - then I will post that to A) regain control of myself and B) to keep me reminded of where I came from and where I want to be.

I haven't had a structured work out plan for probably about 6 weeks now.  I've let it slip and let everything else w/ the move and what not take over.

Do I think you are doing something wrong?  No.  You've maintained your loss for four years and you are preganant.  You are living life and have learned how to do it "your" way.  Not everyone does thing the same way.  If that way is working for you - I would stay stick with it.

Considering I just admitted to not exercising - this is like the pot calling the kettle black....but I do think exercise is a key component in this journey for a life time.  And norm will be the first to let you know it.  If not for maintenance - at least for your own (and now your baby's) health.  Obviously you will need to make sure whatever exercise you do is safe - but keep in mnd that light to moderate exercise is thought to help labor along and your stamina for the labor process.

We love having you here - and no - you are not alone - nor are you doing anything wrong.

JoJo   I, too, can eat anything.. and I do,  I have no exercise routine.. I don't count anything...  so, no, you are not alone. 

However.. as you can probably tell from my last few MONTHS of posts...  it has caught up with me, so be careful!!  

I'm still not counting anything, and exercise is difficult for me..to get into!
But.. I am now starting to watch what I eat.. sticking with MOSTLY protein.. I'll never cut the bad stuff as much as I should... but I am trying to do better!

So, don't feel alone!  The surgery is a tool... all of our bodies react differently to it, and heal at different rates... the further out we get, it seems, the more we can tolerate.. and I can tolerate just about anything!  Except liquid sugars.. no sugar in drinks for me!!!

I think you are doing an amazing job.  You have maintained your weight for 4 years.  I'm sure when you were early out you kept to the "menu", but after 4 years I would think you have your new lifestyle in check.  A few doritos here and there are not going to put lbs back on.  It's the few BAGS of doritos that will do it, so as Blanche said....be careful.

Exercise at any stage is important.  I think we all slip and slide on this one.  I'm just getting back into a routine after taking the summer "off".  We are all human, and as such will always slip.  That's why this board is so active!

I don't think you're alone.  I'm ~3 months out.....a baby in comparision to you.  Being a detail oriented person I do track, somewhat, and I do exercise M/ W /F, at a min, at the gym at work.

I'm still very scared about dumping and fomies...so I don't eat "super bad foods".  I will have a mouthfull of diet coke...and I did get some no sugar added ice cream....and I might have a handfull of no-butter popcorn when watching a rented movie....

Ask me again in 2012 :)
