UnExpected Wow Moment
Hi Everyone,
I just had my 9 month check up with Dr Pupkova and she told me I have lost over 80 pounds with another 30 to go. Anybody who has Dr P as their surgeon knows how caring and hands on surgeon she is. Well I was a little hard on myself and told her that I was hoping to have reached my goal before my one year surgery and she told me that I have lost over 73% of my body fat and that I am a MODEL patient. Then she proceeeded to ask me if I would like to be at a seminar she conducts at the Barix Clinic in the evening and talk about my WLS journey. ME can you believe it?? Dr P wants me to speak at one of her Seminars. YEAH!!! I am so excited I just had to share this with you all. Who would have though last year at this time I was an invisible wallflower and this year people can's stop complimenting how good I look its a strange and weird feeling. Anyway thanks for listening.

Shilpa,
WOW is right! Good for you!! You are doing so fabulously well on this journey. I know how you feel about wanting to be at goal by one year...and in all actuality - I'm not sure Barix's scale will ever show me at "goal weight" as their goal weight for me is 128. I have been 128 on MY scale first thing in the morning, after my business...and that's about it. Barix is always a pound or two above mine...plus I am dressed and what not. I really wanted to be at goal by my 9 mos appointment - considering in the beginning I had lost so much so rapidly. I was 10 pounds above that at my 9 mos appointment.
Anyway - I digress. Congratulations again! And you would make a phenomenal speaker!!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
Congratulations on having a fantastic 9 month check-up!! When I went in for my 6 month I was also being hard on myself because I felt I hadn't lost enough weight, but Dr Boe was extremely pleased with my progress and said 'I never get hard on you guys because you're always so hard on yourselves' - and isn't that the truth?! You're obviously doing what's right for you and its working - and that's what we have to keep focused on. Sure, some people have lost more than me at this point in their journey, but every body is different. You're doing a fantastic job and should be proud that Dr P asked you to be part of her seminar - cool!!

Shilpa,
Congratulations on your being a "MODEL" patient! You have done a fantastic job, it's amazing to me how we are so focused on "reaching goal" that we often fail to enjoy the accomplishments of our journey as we stand today, so celebrate your continued "successing" and you go girl!
Hugs, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen
