surgery on tuesday
Hi everyone,
I am having my RNY surgery on Tuesday 9/30...I am nervous but not freaked. I am trying to get laundry, bills, cleaning, errands, etc. done so I can rest afterward. I've been on a 2 week liquid protein diet and I've already lost 12 pounds!!!!
I've been reading alot of the posts about how people were tollerating foods right after surgery. and tomorrow I'm going to stock up with the foods on my phase one post-op diet. I look at the before and after pictures on this web site and see everyone's weight loss rulers, and I'm getting excited to join the loser group.
I don't even want to think about surgical compllications, but if that happens, I'll deal with it. I trust my surgeon.
I'll post again after the surgery

Nancy,
Good luck on Tuesday!! You will do great. "nervouscitement" as Sr. Jan here on the boards calls it is totally normal before surgery.
There are bumps along the road - which foods you will tolerate which foods you won't - some bad days and many many many fabulous days. By far one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would do it again all over.
Please be sure to post when you are able when you are home recovering!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
Hi Nancy - so tomorrow is the big day?! Its a wonderful feeling, isn't it? I'm sure you'll be nervous and who wouldn't be - its major surgery - but it is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I'm sure many others would attest to that as well.
Everyone has different experiences post-op, so if you're going thru stuff post on here and we'll try to help you thru it, and when all else fails pick up that phone and call the doc - that's what they're there for!
Best of luck to you tomorrow - you'll be in my thoughts and prayers...please have someone post and let us know how you do.

Nancy,
The nervous excitement you are experiencing is par for the course, so focus on the fact that tomorrow you will be an official member of the "Losers' Bench"! Wishing you an easy transition and an uncomplicated recovery process. Just remember to walk, sip, sip, walk and rest and follow your surgeon's rules to the letter.
Looking forward to your post-surgery posting!
Prayers and positive healing thoughts, L

Hi Nancy! Congratulations on your decision to commit to your health and well-being. Everything you're feeling is natural! It's an exciting/nervous time. Stick with the program and go slow with the post-op food plan and you'll do great. We all experience our own "path" post-op so just know that you can come to the boards for support or whatever you might need in addition to your medical team and their support! We're rooting for you girl!
