OT: Should a girl go out to a bar alone?

All I can do is offer my opinion and it's like a butthole - everyone has one and they think theirs doesn't stink.  So, with that caveat.  I don't think it's wrong.  It might be unwise, depending on HOW you do it.  I would definitely try to take someone with me and follow a couple of other guidelines.  1) Make sure friends, etc. know I'm going and set up for someone to check on me (by phone, not texting) a time or two (if i go alone) 2) NEVER leave anything I am drinking unattended 3) Don't drink enough to get tipsy and follow each drink with a glass of water 4) Move my seat often (harder for those predators that ARE out there to focus on someone who keeps moving) 5) Enjoy myself!

I think the the world isn't evil but there are people out there who enjoy committing evil acts and thus I need to remain alert and cautious but not stop living.  Tough walk though - balance is the key but again, hard to find.
