Can someone answer my question?
Always, Always, Always....call your Doc office for advice to be sure. Not every doctor is the same. It will be up to a surgeon to make cancellations due to things like that.
Just a side note.....I had my period during my sugery. But I don't know if it's an issue with some surgeons or if it doesn't matter at all. Call them and see.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
I woke up day of with my friend. It did not cause a problem. However, directly before and all during my recovery, they would not let me use tampons - pads only. Also, bring more than you anticipate needing - you may have blood thinners given to after surgery and between that and the stress of surgery on your body you may find that your flow has increased/last longer etc. I ran out - but the hospital had more that I was able to use.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

my fiedn came to visit the day before my surgery. and to be honest it SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bring lots of pads - i used teh ones wiht wings - you cant use tampons right away. and the pads they have are like pillows. i can say it wasnt pleasant at all and i felt bad for the nurses - they have to measure your urine output. good luck to you and i cant wait to read about your journey
