Looking for a PCP with GBP experience.

Hey everyone,

I'm not really hooked on my current PCP.  In fact, if I bumped into him at Trader Joes I wound't know it was him.  I would like to find someone to really start using on a consistent basis that can get to know *me* and visa versa.

Ideally I'd like someone with GBP patients and/or experience with our population and knows/understands the various contraints and issues.  Distance for me is not a big deal but, again, ideally they would be in the general Philadelphia area. I have Keystone Health Plan East - don't know if that matters.

Anyone know of a PCP that fits the bill?

Thanks,
-GD

I am pleased with the care I get from Dr. L. Malamud in Levittown.  I don't know his GBP patient experience, but I had my surgery two years ago, and he has been really good with me since.  I have had him as my doc for decades, and he does know me as his patient and cares about all of his patients.

His office is about 10 minutes from Barix, give or take with traffic.

Well, I went thru the same thing. My primary care physician is impossible to get an appt w/, so you see the nurse practioner. She explained to me that after RNY, you can experience dumping....so called because w/ shorter intestines, you eat, then take a dump.

I realized that it was time to change, so I emailed Dr. Pupkova and asked her who she talks to, and who she would recommend.

she told me three doctors who call her with questions, and told me who they are. Two of the three are not accepting new patients, but the third, Dr. Duffield who works out of St. Mary's in Langhorne is who i selected. I've only seen him twice, but he came in to the room and talked to me, and didn't act rushed or hassled.

I would highly recommend him because of this.

Hey GD.

I highly recommend my PCP, Dr. Janine Kyrillos.  She is at Jefferson Internal Medicine, at 833 Chestnut Street (7th Floor).  She had open RNY approximately 4 years ago and is therefore obviously very in tune to the special needs of WLS patients.  PM me if you need any more info.

take care,

Gd,

I know that feeling I had just had that experince and "fired" my PCP after my last visit due to me educating her on stuff that she should have known like Ijust had surgery. I also have Keystone insurance what I did was go on the IBX website and see who ws in my area then I called a few of them did  phone interview of sorts on the phone with the nurse then when the one I like the best with answers I made an appointment with to go meet the doctor. I was up front with her and my issues along with why I was leaving my old PCP.
She listened and talked for over an hour and told em she had about 7-10 other patients with RNY and if she knew more then simple basics. I really liked her for the first visit but being so new I would not want to suggest her just yet.

  Good Luck on your quest...

Hi Jeanne

Her name is Dr. Mia Strazzeri ( i am particial to female doctors)...like I only had the one visit with her so far. It is hard because my previous PCP retired and I miss her like mad. We had a close relationship and I feel like I have struggled with PCP's since I didn't like her replacement so I will see how this goes.

The new one seemed willing to learn more about what I may need along the process if she didn't know already and I am alright with that as long as she listens to me when I have concerns.

My guy is in Media right on State St.    Dr. Michael Prime.

His GB experience might only be me..hahaha, he is  AMAZING.  Super smart, knowledgable, etc.

He will actually sit with you and talk and is just amazing.  There have been several timed i just got to him with questions/concerns vs. my surgeon.  He never makes you feel rushed either.

I couldnt love him more.

what is Dr. Prime's number?
I am looking for a new PCP...
I was going to go with one guy that graduated a few years ahead of me in school, who is also in Media, but then I thought that might be a little odd...  Even though alot of my friends go to see him.
