Early Morning ER Adventures
I swear this could only happen to me! I got home last night from th Barix meeting checked some emails and such then made my way to bed. So I made my last pit stop at the bathroom I literally sat down and heard a pop in my knee then saw stars. I just sucked it up with my big girl (not as big as they once were)panties on and went to bed.
During the night it felt stiff and sore then this morning it was black and blue, swollen and really sore so I call my one of my girlfriends she tells me go to the ER so off I went to the ER...
It was not crowded so they took me right back then to X-Ray the knee. Steve my XRay tech was laughing when I was telling him I swear all I did was pull a Forest Gump and go pee! I wi**** could have been some wild sex story that landed my butt in the ER but sadly I just had to pee!
So the Xray's showed no breaks (duh!) but from the facts of them bending and twisting my knee and the fact i heard the pop. They are suspecting I tore my Meniscus and have to follow up with an ortho doctor since they do not do MRI's in the ER for this.
So nurse Lisa came in hooked me up in a knee immobilizer and crutches what a special treat that was then she sent me out in the big world to fend for myself. It is my left knee so I was able to drive yet getting in the car was special now I am at work with it up in the air and just thinking on me could do this....
Pretty impressed I was in and out of the ER in just about an hour and half from start to finish......

Glad the ER had you in and out and quickly and you were treated well!! Sorry bout your knee, though. Good luck with the MRI/ortho follow up - let us know how you make out.
Hey - if the ER/hospital sends or calls you with any type of survey - be sure to pass along your good comments and the names of those people - I'm sure it will get back to them some how and some hospitals have employee recognition programs. Even if it means writing a letter by yourself....it's always good to hear!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
I will let you know how the follow up goes...I was really unsure about going to the ER I am sure you know first hand I do not think people should use the ER as a doctor service for things that are not "serious" my girlfriend was the one that said look the doctor will only send you out for Xrays and such go to the ER...I was apologizing for going to the nurse and the Xray guy they were telling me I was too funny and to relax.
I will follow up with a good review I love stuff like that and know that it seems you only hear about the bad. I have to say they were 5 stars this morning.

Sorry to hear that you hurt yourself answering the call of nature, but our bodies pick the strangest of times to go haywire. . . hope your pain subsides and that your ortho guy gets you feeling like new soon! That was a pretty impressive time in and out of an ER, espcially considering they took X-rays and all. . .
Hugs and positive healing vibes going out to you, Laureen

Yikes! That sounds very Not Fun!!! I hope the ortho doc is able to get your knee fixed up soon.
After I read your post I was thinking that even though I'm sure it sucks to have a sore knee and an unwanted ER adventure, I would think it's easier to deal with now than it would have been a few months ago. I'm not sure if that's any consolation though.
Take care and let us know if you need anything.

Okay, I was trying not to laugh at you for doing this while you were just trying to pee, but I can't help it! That is funny!!!
I am sure the x-rays were much easier! I also just thought that I bet the MRI will be easier, too. I had to get one three years ago on my noggin (because of migraines) and wow, I'm not claustrophobic normally, but there's not much wiggle room in there!
