3 Month Reflection

Yesterday found me kind of bummed out since the scale has not moved for over 9 days.  I have been walking and working out at the gym and eating just what I should.  Logic says it will move, but my heart says what is going on.  As a friend said, in the past, this would have been when I would have given up, but not now, there is no giving up.

So, I decided to take my measurements since it was 3 months since surgery.  I am down 65 pounds (48 since surgery and 17 from liquid diet) and I have taken off 66.5 inches over my body.  I was in shock.  Wow what a change.  I knew I felt much better, was off my meds, can not only walk but also talk at the same time, and just feel really great, but was amazed at the inches lost.
Anyone who has not taken measurements, take it from one who knows, take them.  They will make you smile when you just want to scream!!!!!

Thanks Trish.  Unfortunately, no collar bones yet.  I am working on that.  I am going on a cruise at the end of August and need to get in a friend's gowns that she gave me.  Needless to say the stahl is bad timing.  Oh well, worst case scenario, I go naked......only kidding because the ship would be empty from everyone jumping overboard.  Hope all is well with you.

You will lose it to get into those gowns! We can always get you a corset to suck it all in  breathing is overrated anyway!

Seriously you look awesome and it will move!

Congratulations on losing so much weight and inches!! That's wonderful, Linda - keep up the great work! I know Pam is a huge advocate of taking measurements - and yet I still have not done it - that is just pure laziness on my part. But I know my clothing sizes are dropping now even tho the scale has slowed at times. It does get frustrating - we've spent the better part of our lives looking at the scale going up - and now when we know it should be going down we get very frustrated when it doesn't.

I'm so happy for you, tho - and I'm really glad to see you posting again! Congrats on the big loss in inches - that's amazing!!

Thanks Kathy.  I know I should be overjoyed, but I need to get in two gowns for a cruise at the end of August and they are not zipping.  How ugly they would look with back fat hanging out.  Well, I am going to hit the gym hard until the cruise and pray that I make it into these gowns.
Glad to be back and chatting with everyone.  I missed you all so much!!!!
Hugs,
Linda

Oooh - a cruise in August - where are you going? And you're taking gowns?? Oh man, I've never done a gown on a cruise - I haven't had a dress on this body since my wedding dress!! But it is good incentive and that scale is going to bust loose one of these days and you'll drop 10-15 lbs just like that!

We're going on a cruise in October - New York to Bermuda - I think this is our 8th cruise - took me forever to talk my husband into the first one and now he loves them! We're going on NCL which is very informal - we'll take some dressy clothes for one night but no gowns. The ship docks in Bermuda for 3 days so we're really looking forward to that.

And just remember, no matter how much 'back fat' you think you have hanging out its certainly much better now than it used to be! I keep thinking of all my loose skin - bat wings, fleshy thighs and bathing suits - but you know what - let people look - I know I'll be thinner on this cruise than I was on my first one 11 years ago, and that's what its all about!

Have a great time - take lots of pictures!! Kathy

Linda,

So happy to hear about the "successing" that is happening on your WLS journey!  Woo hoo   on 65 pounds and 66.5 inches, congrats on doing the work to make it all happen and not let the scale alone dictate where you are in this process.

Hugs, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Oh you have the 3 mos stall we all went through it. Thank Goodness you had the sense to stop beating yourself up and measure yourself.  Amazing how much change 3 mos can bring about huh?
