Failing and getting honest about it
Pam, you are the best. I appreciate your encouragement and the way you reworded my failure into a laspe of successing. That is a healthier way to view where I am at right now.
I am glad you are back on the forum too.
Hugs,
Trish

Trish,
I'm sorry the last year has been so tough for you. You have nothing to be ashamed of....you have come SO far. Keep that appointment and be proud of how far you have come in the last two years. We ALL have issues and we ALL need to hear the bad along with the good. I used to be reluctant to post my problems on here for fear of scaring the pre-ops or new post-ops, but you know what? They need to hear it. They need to understand that their journeys will have bumps in the road. The surgery is not going to magically make life a bed of roses.
I have the sugar demons too. I rarely ate sugar before surgery....so I really don't understand the drawl to it now. Good thing that the farther out I get, the sicker it makes me :) I went through a period of drinking too much....again, I rarely drank at all pre-op. I got a handle on it before it became too much of a problem.
I will never forget that you were one of the first people that came to visit me at Barix...even my mom still remembers you :) So, please know, you are an inspiration to us all!!

Thanks Heather. I was just thinking about you last night. I remember that time, we all had our surgery around the same time, give or take a couple of weeks.
I appreciate your honesty there, and your kind words about my visit. I need to get up there and visit more people these days.
Hugs,
Trish

Thanks Laureen.
I am making my AA meetings a priority once again. What is the date of the next Barix post-op group? I am going away the week of the 11th. Gotta go see the Munchkin before school starts.
Thanks for the PM.

Hi Trish,
Enjoy the munchkin, my two from Germany are arriving for a month long stay next weekend, can't wait to see them! It was a last minute idea and one I am welcoming for sure. . .
The next Barix post-op meeting is August 20th, hope to meet you there!

I am putting the date for the Barix meeting on my calendar, and making sure that nothing interferes with it.

I hope to see you there Trish. Like everyone else I understand the difficulties and traumas that challenge us everyday. It takes a lot to deal and I just want you to have every weapon you need to fight them. It was just a year ago I had one of my "big" battles and you were there to help with soooo many others. Now is your turn. I really hope you can make the next Barix post-op meeting a priority and be there. We will be there for you.

Dennis,
You are the best. I intend to make the next meeting top priority. Part of my not being there was shame over my sense of failure. You, and the rest of this wonderful PA forum family, have helped me see that I am going to make it, no matter what.
Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish...my August surgery buddy :)
I think of you and my other surgery buddies often :)
I am glad to see you posting this, it is a huge step. You are not failing, if you were, you would not have posted this. Failing would be recognizing the behavior and not caring enough to change it!!!!
This truly is a journey...one that you have to take one day at a time, especially as you get further out. The temptation for cross addictions are strong, but you are working through each one beautifully....you are reaching out for help in multiple ways and that is wonderful!!
Congrats on your 60 days sober from alcohol and your soberness from sugar as well....I am glad to see that you are keeping your appointment!!
I can't believe it has been two years, what a ride, huh??
