I do a lot of knitting, and I am convinced that it's a valuable part of my non-food stress-busting.  I hope the knitting will keep my hands busy so I won't want to snack!  Right now I am finishing a wrap I can wear at work when the air conditioning is freezing me out.  After that's done I want to start a cardigan in a much smaller size than my last one.   I have a weekly knitting group I go to and they've actually been a great source of support as I prepare for surgery.

I have done some crochet too, but it's easier for me to knit, being a lefty.

kewl, you'll have to show me your wrap when you finish.  i taught myself how to knit last year and crochet was much easier for me,  but both are good.    i feel like little old lady when i sit here w/my yarn   but i'm 30 now so i'm getting up there in age lol j/k

I have been crocheting since I was 14, and I am addicted to yarn big time. When I was in treatment for eating disorders all the young girls were sitting there knitting in group therapy.  I have middle school students who are crocheting and loving it, and patients who knit and crochet who are teenagers.  You are never too old, or young to have a skill/hobby like this one.

Sure, I'll bring it to the next support group meeting since I hope to be done by then.  Knitting and crocheting are very hip now, so it's not old lady at all!  I've been knitting for 7 years now -- I started when I was 28.  Actually I learned when I was 12, but I made one blanket and didn't pick up the needles again until I was 28.  Now I'm a little obsessed with it, and I have a killer yarn stash.

gotta love the yarn,  if we all get together for clothing exchage we'll have to make it into a yarn exchange too,   rotate the stash

I wish I could crochet I can do a basic stitch but I always mess up...Maybe I will try it again some day.  I tend to write in my journal that I have had online since 2001 or I will read. During the day I may shop. Lord knows I can't eat anymore ;)

That it cool Kim...Mom tried to teach me so many times I can do the basic chain stitch. I mess up the count so anytime I tried to make something it came off all crazy. I wold love to have you maybe try to get me on the right track to do the basics at least. I have no yarn I gave that all away but i have all my Mom's needles.

Yes, I love to journal and have for years even before online. I have recentl,y turned myonloine journal into a PDF file and when I hit 100 pounds lost I am treting myself to have it turned into a book. I am pretty graphic in it I sensor nothing in it about my life 9 out of 10 times.

Yes, can you believe I shop??? Crazy isn't it. ***laughing*** Oh yea when I have company I do something else! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I crochet and knit, though I am better at crochet.  I made my granddaughter two ponchoes so far, and am in the middle of a poncho for a friend of my daughter's.  I am also in the middle of knitting a baby blanket for a charity auction for Special Olympics, and a throw blanket for my son Sean.  I belong to two knitting groups, one is called Sewing Circle.  We meet twice a month and ladies bring whatever needlecraft they have.  Some do embroidery, one does plastic canvas needlepoint, most do knit or crochet.  I am hoping to teach the adolescent girls at the hospital I work at to crochet tomorrow.  The pity is, my daughter never learned to do either craft.  My sister-in-law knits beautiful stuff, and has done it professionally, and her daughter avoids yarn like the plague.  Go figure.

We should start a OH Knitting Night, and get together and knit and support each other that way.  I love to see what others are working on and BS with you all.

Hugs,
Trish
