Nancy,
We are getting more than our fair share of grapes, peaches, apples, and pears. We have friends and family who have one or the other of the above list so it's not unusual for me to have a bushel of something to worry with. My daughter brought us a little over two bushels of nice Granny Smith's and a bushel of Mcintosh apples. I am apple buttered out and hopefully, after tomorrow, will have all the apples canned. I run a 14 quarts through the canner and rest then do more. I do love apple butter and absolutely love pear butter. I am looking so forward to the pecans and walnuts falling out of the trees. We have pecans on our property where my daughter lives and my sister has hickory and walnuts, so I usually get enough nuts to freeze for the year. DH and I sit and watch TV while cracking and picking out nuts...This year, he is going to make some walnut stain so he can stain the new cabinets that will be going in the house we are buying. I am not real sure that I want walnut but he knows about painting and staining and he swears it won't be too dark. I am making wine too. I've made wine in the past but this year I am really putting a great effort into it because, well, I'm retired. LOL.
This week, I'm also going to can some potatoes and carrots: my daughter's potatoes and carrots made like crazy and while I like the idea of putting a bunch in the cellar, I still want to can some too. This being retired is nice...it would be better if the knee wasn't such a pain in my butt. Today, it's feeling better and I am going to do exactly what the doctor said...no climbing stairs, no running or jumping, no bending...but canning, yep, I can do the canning.

Goodness, this place has really slowed down...sounds like some of us are struggling. I finally got thru the long pain phase and feel a lot better now...catching up on sleep but not being very productive, I'm afraid. I have no hunger at all but I do try to eat some protein every few hours. I have some "PURE" whey protein that has no taste, so I add that to my fruit protein drink but I have to say that the texture is a real turnoff for me...that is why i have always stuck with MATRIX.5 hot chocolate protein powder..not that easy to find except at mybariatricpantry. They don't ship to Canada so I cannot order it and have to wait til Derek can do that for me..they will not accept MY credit card because it does not match HIS mailing address. It's a real pain.
We had tornado warnings here all day...quite unusual for us but all of the CLIMATE CHANGE that many refuse to accept is really making a difference here for us. The thunderstorms were more bark than bite, thank goodness...poor LilyRose was terrified and hid under our bed..The Boo simply doesn't care...lolol.
It's HARVEST TIME here for grapes (we live in WINE COUNTRY) and PEACHES. Soon pears and apples will be ready. I can live on fruit. I do have several containers of chicken broth and beef broth for a quick protein fix...sometimes I cook an egg or grab a piece of cheese...never would I have ever thought that lack of hunger would be a problem for me.
Breakfast: protein drink
Lunch: Italian Wedding Soup (chicken broth with spinach, tiny meatballs and a bit of mini pasta shells)
Dinner: chicken patty on a 1/2 toasted bun & a few slices of cucumber
Bedtime Snack: cup of Green Jasmine Tea with flowers and a piece of dark chocolate & almonds
Hi Yvonne,
I am getting on late today. I spent the day in a drug induced stupor. I don't know what the hell I'm going to do until they do something about my knee. I guess the joint keeps filling back up with fluid and the pressure is killing me. I called my surgeon's answering service and when the doc on call called me back, I had already taken my limit of pain medication. DH worked today so when he got off work, he took me to the ER and the on call doc got there pretty quickly and he did an xray because he was convinced it was broken in spite me saying, it's fluid....don't move it around.....ouch! stop....ouch...so after the X-ray, he came in with a big ass needle, deaden the skin, punctured the joint and pulled out two syringes full of bloody looking crap....he filled the joint with steroids and a deadener to stop the pain and we stayed in the ER for an hour and he did another X-ray so that he could make sure the fluid wasn't filling up the joint again and it wasn't....he did tell me that I need that knee replacement sooner than later and I said, we're working on getting my blood healthy...he said, if you are unable to get the blood levels up, we can give you blood....lots of blood....So, that's my day today.
B: I was in too much pain to eat so I ate a bite of bread so the pain meds wouldn't make me nauseous.
L: Tomato soup
D: potato soup
Snack: crackers and butter

Hello Everyone!
Bringing up the rear here...worked until 2 this afternoon & then came home & crashed for an hour. Hate having this chronic afib...the condition & meds are tiresome enough so the oppressive heat & humidity today kicked my ass. I ran around at work ALL morning...no walk tonite!
Jeannie, glad you had no pain today...what a blessing! Hoping the lab work is good! Julia, my passion is yard sales every Saturday morning, but I hate the effort that goes into hosting them. So much work & organization!
Hope all the hard work pays off!
Yvonne. I always swore the antibiotics I had to take for frequent UTI's caused fatigue, but everyone told me they didn't! I'm not glad your having that side effect, but it sure validates how I felt.
Everyone enjoy their weekend!

S - protein bar

Everyone have a good day
I'm so glad your knee is better for today. You really needed a break with the pain. I read about your iron issues. Your situation is complicated for sure. And moving while not physically able is torture for sure. College kids seem to be available for you...SOS maybe.
Today is my last push day before the garage sale tomorrow. This is not nearly as bad as moving but parts of it remind me of that. The digging in cabinets and putting things in boxes is a moving task. I need to go to bed early tonight!
Hi to everyone in our group!
Breakfast- protein drink
Lunch- cooked ham with pieces of jalapeño cheese
Dinner- turkey pieces with veggies
Snack- piece of berry pie
Today I go for PT and then meet with my regular doctor to see what the latest lab results are showing. I woke up today and my knee was not what woke me up. In fact, I've been up since 5 and haven't taken one pain pill so I'm thinking it is getting better.
B: 1/3 of a 3 egg omelet (cheese and tomatoes were in the omelet)
L: Left overs from last night
D: Probably shrimp...we are going out to eat with friends.
