With frinds like that - who needs enemies...

I had a few like that in my life.  I often lost the relationship once I expected the other person to pay for her things... Or said no in a few instances..

Good luck in figuring things out....

Kathy,

I, too, recently ran into an old friend from high school and was shocked at how large he had gotten. When we were in school, he was always so skinny.  I haven't seen him since we graduated from high school until a year or so ago at the funeral of another one of our high school friends. He recognized me immediately but it took me a while to figure out who he was.

I am spending the day doing a little crocheting.  I like to keep a couple of baby afghans in stock and gave the last one to my daughter to give as a shower gift. My eating is better today. I have fresh vegetables cut and ready to grab and the bag of chips is gone; I tossed them in the garbage after munching on them all day yesterday.

B: 1/2 cup cottage cheese and fresh pear

L: Trout and mixed vegetables grilled

D: Tomato sandwich

Snacks: carrots, celery, cucumber, and pepper spears

Hello Everyone!

Can't believe how fast this week had gone! Time just seems to be flying by!

Got home from work a little while ago. I swear I never get to sit during the 2 hours I'm there...time flies by there, too! Then I came home & walked the dog & am contemplating a morning nap or starting on stuff around here. I have the house to myself for a change & want to revel in it.

My daughter had an out patient surgery yesterday & I went in with her. As I was walking back to see her after the surgery I heard someone calling my name.

It was an old close friend from the 90s. I didn't even recognize her she had put on so much weight! I used to envy her size 4 figure & looks, but now she is round all over! It made me so glad I had the surgery & got the weight off. I am still so grateful I can move everyday!

I want to finish working on my front garden this afternoon. I am digging out the grass to expand it around to the front side of the house. It's a fairly small.patch that would look better with pacasandra & flowers, and I wouldn't have to weedwhacker.

We got Jazz's homecoming gown, shoes & jewelry this week. She is going to look like an Egyptian goddess! I am excited for her 1st real high school formal. Will need to post photos!

Trying to stick to meal plan...I guess that's good given I would have said screw it in the past when I went off course. Will see how I do today.

B - Eggface bacon bites

S - McDonald's sausage patty

L - grilled cheese & apple

D - meatloaf & green beans

Hey Jeannie,

I was up and out the door at 8:00.  The kids' school PTO did a fund raiser called a Fund Run.  The kids get donations for the PTO, and run laps at a park next to the school.  We had gorgeous weather here in Michigan.  Temps went to 78 degrees.  Kids did great.  So proud of my runners.

Then I went an urgent care coz I messed up my toes, which were operated on last November.  I got them caught in a throw rug and tripped.  I had it x-rayed, and need to see my orthopedist.  I have an appointment tomorrow morning.

When I got home, I started making applesauce.  Aldi's had Gala apples 3 pounds for $1.49 last week.  I bought 9 bags last week.  When I made the applesauce last week, Mom thought I put sugar in it when she tasted it.  That's how sweet these apples are.p  Plus, they're bigger than normal bagged apples.  I had an appointment for a pedicure before I finished peeling, so Mom finished while I was gone, and then started the crock-pot for me.

After I got back, I did some chores, and around supper, Frankie came over so Colleen could take Lincoln to football practice.  Then, I took him to the kids' program at church.  Busy day.

I have been sugar free since August 28, but my snacking and comfort eating is out of control.  I'm not beating myself up over it, coz I know some of the stress eating is coz Mom is here.  90% of the time we get along fine, and the few times we clash, the eating isn't over.  It's the added responsibility of taking care of her.  It's not a problem for me, it's just the change of routine, and being responsible for her that I eat over.  I don't feel stress, I just feel an immense sense of responsibility.  I'm motivated by love, and want her to feel loved and appreciated.

Hugs,

Trish

I cannot believe that I am retired and I still get up at 5:00 AM. After I had my first cup of coffee, a bad storm blew in with thunder and lightening and heavy rains.  I love to sleep during storms but I cannot go back to bed and fall asleep, so I opened the kitchen window and listened to the rain.

Today I am resting the knee on pillows because last night, I guess during the night, I twisted my lower leg and my knee just pulled like crazy and today it is swollen again. I will be so damn glad when my knee doesn't dictate the simplest things in life like sleeping....

B: Toast

L: Potato soup with shrimp

D: Salmon, broccoli, and carrots

S: Don't judge...chips. I know.

Kathy,

So far, it seems that we all have some of the same phases and stages within those phases.  The surgeon that I have been working with has said that it helps for the surgeons to have this information about the phases and stages because they know what the medical side is but they are far removed from the mental issues that we have...He believes as do his partners that this information will help their new patients.  I hope so.  I will get the next installment out soon.  I think everyone can relate to this next installment and some will be surprised as I was when I found the information.

Jeannie,

I can tell you I could relate to all the above despite having the sleeve vs. RNY.

It will be interesting...to me anyhow...to see if your patient interviews turn up some really different stuff.

I think those of us who choose WLS have far more in common than any differences. We chose the type of surgery we had on a number of reasons, but the initial problems are much the same...as is the phases of recovery.

I will stay tuned for your next 'chapter' much in the same way I look forward to Eileen's writing.

Thanks for taking the time to share all that!

Kathy
