Topic: RE: Ladies Who Lurk

I'll start - hope t bring others out...

I am "old timer" .. been on OH since 2008.   I found this forum in 2003... but never felt I belong... But still read here once in a while... and just lurk......

My RNY history: had surgery in 2008 - got to goal, slipped a few years later and gained 35 lbs.. 10 on purpose - the rest- just followed.   My back pain got worse - and my doc called me on my weight gain... He told me " you are obese, you need to lose 15 lbs and come back to see me in 3 months"...I lost 20.. then gain 3. lost 2.. gained 5...   maintained around 165.... +/- 3 lbs...

This year I finally changed things and decided to get to my goal of 155 (152-158) I am almost there... (I saw 155 one time a week ago). That would still qualify me as "overweight" - but I have a big frame so lower that that- does not look or feel good for me.

Along my last 8 years- I found out I have food allergies... intolerances, plus IBS, plus SIBO, plus Adrenal Insufficiencies...  Some of those are probably due to my RNY but- we will never know for sure... it is what it is.  I try to deal with that the best I can.  I deal with gut pain and back / sciatica pain...

My diet to lose is rather strict- and may not work for anyone else.  I had to eliminate dairy, grains, beans, some veggies, most fruits,  etc etc... I can eat some of that - but not only I end up in pain - but I also gain weight.. so if not one reason - then the other helps me to deal with "the inner child  that just wants it - and wants it now".   lol..probably shared too much...

Hi Ladies,

I went to the dentist this morning and I have two cavities.  Oh joy that's what I wanted to hear.

I've been eating on planned. Last night I wanted to get in the chocolate chips but I didnt. I just drank my water and went to bed.

Wish mother nature make up her mind about the weather. It supposed to get cold again tomorrow.  Today it's been raining off and on so I couldn't take my walk outside but I did my exercise inside.

Tomorrow I'm going with my dad to put flowers on my mom's grave and my grandparents. . Then out to lunch.

Everyone have a good evening.

Hugs,

Yvonne

We know you are there, lurking behind your computer screens, reading our words. We love that you are reading but we wish you would come join us. I know....I've been there too. Either I got pissed at one of the other members or the board was getting too negative or I felt guilty because I was not really adhering to the rules of the pouch.

Here's the deal. We want to do a roll call. Not to force anyone to participate but if you could, would you respond to this post by I'm an old timer, I'm a pre op or whatever you reasons for lurking are....let us know. Here are some of the reasons that I lurked: 1) someone was rude and hurt my feelings; 2) I was being excluded because a few of the members had me on that hide thing and while we are talking about the hide thing, I believe it's rude to do that. If someone has pissed you off and you don't want to talk to them, when you hide from them, they cannot participate in those conversations that you are having with the other members and it's divisive and bullying to act like that. So, just putting this out there, if you block me and I find out, I will talk about you...really bad talk about you. 3) I got sick and was sort of bullied and so I stayed off the board for a long time and when I tried to get involved again, I just didn't fit in. In fact, it took me a couple of years to fit back but I promise you if you unlock the lurkdome, I will make you feel at home. I promise. 4) I start lurking when the board takes a turn for the negative....it's true, you may be doing the same thing but you can help us keep it positive. You can bring your experience and your successes to us and help us all grow.

If you are one of our old-timers, please, please, please come say hi...I miss Susan, Karen, and Karen and Jan and so many others. Drop in and say hello and maybe hang out. So, take your time. We have set a date for visitation and getting reacquainted so read this and make your plans to join us now or on our visitation day.   Remember before you had surgery and how much help you got from all those old timers on the board...imagine how much the new folks could learn from you and plus, didn't we have some fun?

Ladies,

I am going to do a drive by. I hope you are all well; I am so tired. DH and I sat up and watched a crazy movie last night and then it was after 1 and I said, holy crap and here I am at work dying of tired eyes. Oh, I found two four leaf clovers today...I went outside to try and get a bit of sun and I was looking at this little patch of clover and there they were, side-by-side. I have them pressed between books and am going to have another friend of mine put them in this resin stuff.....anyway, she is way crafty.

So far my eating has been good. I ate my loaded oatmeal for breakfast with toasted walnuts and I added sunflower seeds. I also added black berries and a few slices of strawberries.  Then I added Nutritional Yeast and a little butter and it was great. Lunch was an avocado salad. Tonight, I am making soup.  And, two days running I have gotten all my water in and have stayed at one cup of coffee each day. I've had a wee headache but other than that, I am doing great.

Well, ladies, I hope you all have a great day and nice evening. I am so looking forward to summer....really hot summer.

Good Morning Nancy and OFF,

I watched Franklin this morning, and we played with a new toy I got.  It has gears, and it really helps him with eye/hand coordination and problem solving.

I go back to the doctor this afternoon.  I saw him last week, but forgot to mention something that might be important.  Plus, I need a refill of one of my meds.

Colleen was upset with me when she picked up Frankie earlier.  I had given him a granola bar, with chocolate chips in it before she got here.  I've given him them before with no problem.  Today, he got chocolate on his arm, the back of his shirt, and in his belly button.  She got so irritated.  I think she needs to take a chill pill.  Last night she was upset that I didn't do something specifically the way she wanted it done.  She wanted Lincoln to read two books on Izzy's Kindle, and he wanted to read the book he got from the school library.  I didn't know that the library book was above his reading level, and the Kindle books were at his level.  She acted as if I should have known the library book was too hard for him, because I was a teacher.  I had to tell her I never taught the primary grades.  I taught fifth to eighth grades.  Nothing younger, so I have no clue what's too difficult for Lincoln.  God, I hope she gets that job in Pennsylvania, so she can relax.  These job interviews, with the travel, and stress, have her more high strung than normal.  Maybe I need to get her a coloring book and some pencils.

Well, my food was on target yesterday, till after 9:00 pm.  I also increased my water from the day before.  According to my new food plan, I need to drink at least four quarts of water.  The formula I was given is to take my current weight, and multiply it by .67. That's how many ounces I should have a day.

I better get dressed, and take Utley for a walk.  It's gorgous out.

Hugs,

Trish

Here I sit before going to bed...my bones are aching pretty bad this evening so I am seeing no point in lying down until I am more tired. Yesterday (Wed), I attended several meetings and donated a basket of five of my colouring books plus a large set of colouring markers for the Silent Auction at the WOW GALS conference that I am attending- I was a WOW GAL in the magazine several years ago and will be teaching four workshops there. I also prepped 100 mandala drawings, each stapled to an individually-wrapped bag of tea and my business card....they go into the attendees "grab bags". Glad that is done and delivered.

I was very mindful at the dinner meeting this evening and ate salad, tomatoes, shrimp & chicken and lots of water. On the way home, I suddenly realized that I had too much water to drink while out...it's a little difficult to make a "pit stop" at the top of the SKYWAY!  But I made it home...whew! Time for more kegel exercises, methinks!

Thursday, I had planned on staying home and completing a custom-made colouring book for a client,  BUT it seems that my presence is required to take Quira, our rescue dog, to the vet to get heartworm bloodtests done.  She is a Belgian Shepherd and gets so excited about car rides that we need two of us to take her along.

So, I have my Thursday menu planned: hot chocolate protein drink with meds for breakfast, then, a small yogurt, and later, crackers and cheese....an orange after my salad which will have cubes of leftover chicken & shrimp as well as my usual nuts & seeds for my dinner and another hot chocolate protein drink before bed. I am really finding that PLANNING AHEAD is really helping me alot.

I have to say that I am in a state of excitement to be UNDER 300 pounds now I am at 288 for the last four days and grateful that it hasn't gone UP. Even Mother's Day was not a big challenge as my son, Dan, made a Prime Rib Roast & salad. I brought my homemade baked beans, pull-apart rosemary bread which I only SMELLED and I made a lemon icebox cake..I licked the spoon.  And I FINALLY have a photo of my sons and me together. I was always the one who took photos so I do not have many with ME in them. Of course, being the size that I was, I avoided the camera. Now, I am so excited to finally have one of my with my babies. It may not be so important to my sons but later, when I am gone, they will treasure it. Wish I had more of my parents and I ...how time flies when you think you still have time.

Hi Ladies,

I've been busy today. I went to two hardware stores, auto zone,  and Sams club this morning.  Then this afternoon, I fixed my broken taillight and did my walk. I've been using map my walk app, today it only measured part of my walk then the other day it didn't do it at all. I don't know what it is doing . Tonight I have Bible study.

Last night I got pulled over by the cop for my broken taillight. The funny part it's been broken for at least 3 years. Guess that's what happens when you drive at night which I usually don't do.

Carla hoping everything turned out well for you.

I did buy a watermelon this week also but haven't ate any of it yet. Hope it is good.

Everyone have a good night.

Hugs,

Yvonne

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

Hope you're scope goes OK. Enjoy the camping trip.

Not much happening here. Yesterday it rained all day, sometimes in torrential downpours. It was coming down so hard and there were tornado warnings all around us (none here). We just had thunderstorms. There was a duck family waddling around in our makeshift pond on the lawn. Mama mallard and seven ducklings. They've been by before, but in just a week they've gotten so much bigger. Gary's also seen a goose family nearby. Since we've also seen coyotes, I hope the predators don't eat the babies.

Well, I do have to run some errands today, but I'm not going out until after the White Sox game is over. Hopefully by then, my headache will be gone.
