Congratulations, Carla and family!

After 30 hours with NO sleep, I went to bed at 9 pm last night and fell asleep immediately...hu8bby had broken down and bought a special tower fan for the bedroom...with five levels of open concept, our bedroom at the top does not get cool enough and , bad enough to have severe insomnia from my meds and then in a HIGH PAIN phase, but then I was sweating . JB gets up early and closes the bedroom door to keep it quiet and dark for me but he does not realize that the room heats up after a few hours. In my misery, yesterday morning, I vented (rare for me) and gave him four choices:

1. buy and install a ceiling fan

2. buy & install a window air conditioner

3. buy and install a ceiling fan

4. or be prepared to have his face ripped off with my teeth (yeah, I was a B****h)

I was so sick and uncomfortable and exhausted. I had three business meeting s and got home five hours later...went to bed at 9 pm and found a WONDERFUL TOWER FAN in the bedroom! I apologized profusely and told him how grateful I was for his actions...JB is not the kind to get mushy but I told him anyways.

I slept for FIFTEEN hours!  solid!

Tuesday, I had our "end of the season" sorority dinner party to attend. I showed up in a long white eyelet skirt and a white & coral top that I bought in Naples, Florida...suddenly they all noticed that I had lost weight...okay, I confess that it felt really good that people noticed and fussed over me ..blushes hotly

We were at the MANDARIN Chinese Buffet. I focused on garlic shrimp, baked salmon, one egg roll, and lots of pea pods and asparagus. I took one tiny Creme brullee and some fresh pineapple and felt good about eating smartly. It's not easy when faced with this huge buffet but I had a plan before I even got there and stuck to it. I have come to learn that all of the enticing desserts that LOOK so delicious rarely ever taste as good as they look. That helps me avoid temptation.

Wednesday is my "solitude day"...okay, hubby is home but I refuse to go out at all except for my porch. I need rest time and can do some small mending tasks and maybe even read a book. I turned down all lunch requests and really feel the need to retreat.

I am actually heading to bed at 11 pm...but even if I do not sleep, I can lay there in the lovely cool breeze that now exists in our room upstairs.

Congratulations!  My son's oldest was 7lbs. 14 oz. and my son's daughter is named Avery, so we have something in common with regards to our grandchildren. . .  Glad your daughter is doing ok, and looking forward to seeing pictures of "HAM" soon!  Probably already have some posted on FB, but I was hanging with the littlest of my grandchildren today, so wasn't really looking at FB much. . .  wishing you and the family the very best, hope lil Vinnie enjoys her baby brother.

Laureen

PS, lost 3 lbs last week, making some tweaks and walking, walking and walking :)

Food today:

Breakfast:  1/2 of ww bagel with pat of butter and raspberry jam (an indulgence)

Snack was a piece of low fat sharp cheddar

Lunch was a very small piece of homemade lasagna, with about 2 ounces of chicken breast and asparagus

Snack was musselman's lite applesauce

Dinner, a piece of turkey meatloaf, half of a small sweet potato and a few pieces of asparagus.

Unsure of snack

I'm pooped, 9.5 month old's take a lot out of you, especially when they don't like napping :)  I took two walks of 30+ minutes in duration, putting on over 11,000 steps. . .   and while I am pooped I LOVED EVERY MINUTE I SPENT WITH JUNIPER TODAY!!!

Its 10:30pm in Atlanta.  We put the 5 year old to bed an hour ago.  It was an hour past her bedtime but there is just too much excitement going on for her.  She is taking swim lessons, had her birthday party, got tons of gifts that she just has to play with and no set get up time.  Sooo tonight it went a little past normal bed time.  She is usually pretty good about it and will tell you her  bed time is 8:30.

I sat down with her today and did some educational stuff with her and was amazed.  I know I always taught in title one schools and my kids were disadvantaged but she knows  so much more than any kid starting kindergarten that I have ever seen.

She counts to 100

she counts by 10's and 5's.

she recites the alphabet'

she recognizes the letter, can name it and can match the upper case to the lower case

She can look at two groups of objects and tell you which is more and which is less

When the instructions said which group has fewer, I thought she would be confused but she wasn't.

She can look at pictures of objects in two columns and draw a line to the two objects that rhyme.

That was just the first 6 or 7 pages.

She does get one thing backwards....instead of saying what does elephant begin with she will say what begins with elephant.  The answer is of course E.

She has not had a day of pre school instruction.  This all comes from working with mom and dad and her own brain.

Am I just a proud Nana or is she as bright as I think she is????

I have 4 more days here then it is home again.  It is hot here and I am sure I will be going back to a HOT Houston.  I think I am going to take an hour or so and read before I turn in.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Sorry to hear you got the roommate from hell. Good that you are doing something for yourself tomorrow.

I've been eating on plan. I took my walk today.

I bet I have walked twenty miles today. I have also eaten very little because of the rigorous reading schedule and the horrible food. My roommate is bipolar and she is manic, so every evening, when I get back to my room, there is nothing that I can do: no checking email, no working, no talking to DH....and I need to get some work done for my real job.  So today, I got in at 6:00 and said, gotta run and I am in the lobby in the corner by the stairs, working....so I thought I'd say hello and hope you are doing well.  This is day three of reading horrible essays and I have to tell you that my back isn't hurting nearly as bad this year as in previous years.

I hope you guys are sticking to your plans and eating and moving and looking for your inner and outer good. Today, I looked in the mirror and I shrieked; I am so pale and I really need a good facial.  Tomorrow, I am going to the hotel salon and am getting my face massaged and cleansed and all that.  I am getting a good back rub too.....My husband's treat.

Goodnight and sleep well.....

I'm ok. I'm in Chicago taking care of Vinnie.

I do live about two hours away from Orlando. My heart breaks for the people of Orlando.

I have cousins that live there not far from the shooting there. They r ok.

It surly brings back bad memories from the columbine shootings in Colorado about 14 years ago.

Just another  quick drop by. I bet I am walking five miles a day and I am not really minding it so much. Plus, while dinner here is good from the vegetarian menu, breakfast and lunch suck....Every single day breakfast is a boiled egg and lunch is a sale...Since, during the reading, we are sequestered, we have to eat in the huge convention center but we can leave for dinner. I just eat the food they fix for us and catch the buss back to the hotel...There's a little gym in the hotel and I have been doing some walking on the treadmill and have walked around outside the hotel.

Ladies, after the horrible news about the shooting in Orlando, I hope you all doing okay...to our friends in Florida, you are on my mind and probably all of the rest of us ladies too....Hate is an awful thing: it can divide and in these horrible instances, it can kill.....

Hope you are doing well.

Hi Carla,

It cooled down here today too. I had to shut my fan off this morning. Hopefully that baby will arrived soon. Have fun at the zoo.

My eating has been better this week. No late time snacking so I hope the scale is giving tomorrow.  Next weekend I have a family reunion to go to and going to my dad's on Sunday  so my eating will be off.

very one have a good day.
