Thursday and another grey day here in New Jersey
Hi Ladies,
It was another beautiful day here in Michigan. I exercise twice today. My food is the same as yesterday.
I did get into the chocolate chips last night but only one handful. Guess I need to make my splenda chocolate chip cookies.
Guess I better get off here and do something productive around my house.
Everyone have a good day.
Love and hugs,
Yvonne
Well, hello Laureen and my OFF family:
Long time no see. Glad to see you again.
Yes, I know all about weather-related headaches. I have them a lot.
I have been seeing a new chiropractor the past two days. The other guy I liked, but he wasn't in my network and I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket, especially now that my deductible is paid and my care is free. (So happy that is so because my recent hospital stay, plus the ambulance ride, wasn't cheap, but it was all paid, other than $54.60 to the ambulance company.) The new chiro is a young guy who does things a little differently. He is stretching out my hips on this table ... I call it the rack. Not really. He also did a couple of acupuncture points on my elbows that were supposed to help my knees. When I left, they felt good ... after walking around the new Meijer, not so good. Oh well ... I tend to overdo it when I feel good. He is having me come three times a week to see if we can get my back feeling better. He knows the guy who does the neurostim implants at my ortho group. I have to wait until I get cleared by the cardiologist to get the neurostim, though.
So today we found out at work that we will be training on the new content management system in August, one of two papers getting it early. Lucky us! More training. We've already been going through training the past several weeks. Now there's more. And then they'll probably lay off several of us anyway. Well, no use worrying about it. Just closer to retirement.
The new Meijer is wonderful ... I didn't get through the non-food areas of the store and not even all of the food areas but was still very impressed with the rest of the store. I love this chain ... we had them in Grand Rapids. The grand opening is Sunday but I have to work and I'm not getting up at 6 a.m. for it.
Good to see all the "old-timers" ... Sorry I haven't been around lately but have been busy with work/home stuff (it's different having a roomie ... my brother, in case you don't know). We went to Golden Corral for dinner last night. Not my choice, but my brother was paying. The salad bar was good ... I filled myself up on that, fortunately, and there wasn't much I could eat of other stuff ... all fried. The steaks didn't come out until 4 p.m. (we were there for the senior early bird special). I didn't even try any dessert, not even ice cream, because I was feeling sick after a little bit of fried food. Should've stuck with the salad bar.
Anyway, should get back to work. Or see if there's anything for me to do.
Eileen
You say with the neurostimulator you had no knee pain. When you were pain free what were you able to do that you couldn't do before. I am asking because I am at a point where I don't have knee pain at rest. I used to . I also don't have pain walking long distances on level ground or walking up moderate inclines. However I do have pain with weight bearing activity. I cannot climb stairs or over rocks etc . I want to be able to take some of the hikes I can not take now because of obstacles in the trails, such as rocks, and ledges you have to climb up and over. Going down a rock I can manage but not coming up when I have to put weight on my knee and push/pull myself up. Just wondering if the stimulator would help with that. I have had tens units in the past for my back and I know the stimulator is similar just more advanced and implanted so it is permanent.
Just wondering
Well, I can't climb, I can't sit for long periods with my legs down. I get stabbing pains. It might help. Strengthening your quads might help you. I know when I was more religious about working out in the pool and doing the sit in the chair exercise, I could climb stairs better (not comfortably, but at least I could do it). Do you see a pain specialist? This is where it was suggested to me. It was the end of the line, so to speak. I was sent to the spine doc and he suggested I try the neuro stim. I had to pass a psych test first, then we did the trial and now because of my fainting spell, I have to get the OK from the cardiologist.
Eileen and Linda,
I, too, am unable to weight bear on my knees. After the last surgery, the ortho guy said that before I have the knee replaced, he wants me in PT so I can build up my muscles and I tried it but it just killed my right knee. I don't want to have the knee replacement until Christmas. I know there's a huge risk waiting so long but I have just heard so many negative things about the surgery. My brother had his knee don't last year and he is going in to have the other one done soon and he is so happy with the results but you now, I've heard just as many horror stories as I have good endings. I hope you are able to get the transmitter thing back in soon. Living with pain is horrible.
