Thursday and another grey day here in New Jersey

Good Morning Ladies (any gentlemen lurkers :))!

It's been grey more days than not lately, we are in an awful weather pattern here on the East Coast and we all know how that affects people.  I will try to visualize sun and hopefully that will help. . . I have woken up with headaches two days in a row, probably allergy related. . . anyway, don't want to start off like a Debbie Downer here . . .

Work is crazy with doing things that need to be done and add in the fact that we have a move in date of June 3rd, which is two weeks away and I will not be in the office next week for 3 days, as I am traveling to Florida for the graduation of my granddaughter, when you work in a legal department there's more paper than on the shelves in Office Depot and lots of it, from my predecessor, that has not been filed going back to 2012, so I am sorting, destroying and trying to figure what to keep, as the new building is state of the art and not a lot of filing space for us there, so lots of stuff will have to be boxed and sent offsite, well it keeps me busy and the paycheck is good and I do love my present company.

Food today will be Special K for breakfast, with some fruit or cheese or nuts for snack, lunch is Mediterrian day, so I will have some lamb, salad and make it a healthy lunch.  Unsure of snack, maybe an unsweetened applesauce with a few nuts, dinner tonight is something in the leftovers family, either the asparagus, mushroom cheese pasta I made last night or some prime rib with asparagus, we have lots of asparagus because my roommate has a friend who works on a farm and gets us a case of it every other week, love it. . .

Ok, got to go get ready for the workday!  Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Laureen,

The weather controls us so much, doesn't it. There are days, that I either go sit in the sun or I go sit in front of the window and let the sun warm my bones. I don't suffer from depression like some do when the sun hasn't made its appearance in a day or three but I do miss it. We've also had unusually crappy weather and I find myself looking out of my window hoping the sun pops out.  Yesterday, it was sunny...cool, but sunny. Since I live in the Ozark Mt foothills, this time of year, I cannot sit outside for too long or my allergies go crazy but I did sit in front of my window and absorbed the rays.

Work is crazy for me this time of year too.  I hate, hate, hate moving and today or tomorrow, I am having to move computer programs around in our center....well, I'm not but the tech folks are and it is crazy.  You'd think it would be easy but we have certain license for certain programs and they stay with the PC...it's just nuts. Anyway, I feel your pain on moving.

Breakfast for me was good....1 egg and DH and I split a piece of bread... My snack today is cucumbers. Lunch is a black bean veggie burger that I made last night on rye with avocado slices and pineapple. Dinner is beans, squash, onions, and of course cornbread.  We need to go pick up another watermelon.

Ladies, take care of yourselves today...do the smart eat, the smart drink, and the safe exercise.  If I've learned one thing from being on this board all these years it is to do the walking, dancing, running, stretching....safely.  So don't push yourselves to past the limit....our knees are sure not what they used to be.

Jeanne,

I don't suffer from SAD, except when we go for weeks at a time where it is predominately grey and rainy and it has been that here. . . our tomato plants are telling me that they want the sun, as they are not growing the way they should be having been planted Mother's day weekend. . .  anyway, certainly cannot control the weather so I will look forward to grandbaby time this weekend, as my daughter and her husband are moving into their new home and I will be needed to entertain Miss Juniper, who is almost 9 months old.

Your veggie burger sounds very yummy what with the avacados and pineapple, I will have to keep that in mind for the near future. . .

Have a great day!

Happy to be back here and feeling reconnected.

Good Morning Laureen and OFF,

Well, we have had a few sunny days here in Michigan, so I have no clue where your clouds are coming from.  You guys usually get our weather the next day, coz my family is right across the river from you.

Well, I failed to get my walk in yesterday, so my total number of steps was too low.  Must do it today.

My food was okay yesterday, but I did get into some sugar.  Today, I have to check my freezer to see what's to thaw for dinner.

Must get moving.  My living looks like an explosion of boxes and laundry.

Hugs

hello ladies

Today I've been doing laundry.  I didn't really have breakfast. I got busy and forgot. So far today I've had a few crackers and tuna salad plus my water, meds, and vitamins. Snack will be celery and carrots with more water.  I haven't thought far enough ahead to know what supper will be but I have healthy choices in the fridge.

At 2 I have line dance.  That should insure my 10,000 steps.

That's it for me. See ya tomorrow

Hi All,

I am sitting here contemplating my food for the day. I skipped breakfast but I'm drinking water. Soon I will have brunch...probably tuna with a couple of crackers, or a half tuna sandwich. Dinner is an Italian pasta with a large green salad.

The weather here is summery, but the wind has picked up today. I don't complain much about the weather because it is usually quite good. I truly think that our high cost of living is based on the weather...you just can't beat it.

I have my jewelry class today at 1:00.

We have decided to get solar installed on our roof and also on our daughters across the street. It's exciting to do this...not sure how long it will take to pay for itself, but I'm thinking we will be glad that we did it. The tax incentive is very good also.

Im eating prunes Jeannie but still having a problem...geez. I'll add a couple more today. I think that I'll do fine once I clear the build up...lol.

Happy Day to all of you!

Julia

Julia...have you tried Miralax for your problem?

I had an increasingly difficult time with my bowels as I gained weight. I was lucky if I went once every 10 days! I took several OTC meds to get moving & added bran & bulk to my diet...still no success with frequency.

I became desperate & even began taking the colonoscopy prep stuff, but even that was minimally successful & not good on a regular basis.

Since surgery I have been okay, but I did have a couple times I needed to get things moving. They talk about Miralax on the other boards so I tried it. It really does work great! And unlike alot of laxatives you can use it daily if necessary.

You might want to try it if you haven't already...

Good luck regardless!

Kathy

Julia if all else fails call or PM me.  I'll tell you what a nurse advised for a relative who was having a very difficult time due to chemo.  Too crass to post.

Julia, Google power pudding; it's what I was given in the hospital for constipation after my first knee surgery. Guaranteed to make you go. And it's not bad tasting, either. It's a mix of applesauce, prune juice, mineral oil, bran ... can't remember everything. But I ate a bit of it and an hour later, bam, I went. And I was taken stool softeners and fibercon too, and couldn't go. But see, they're used to knee replacement patients being unable to go because of the pain killers.
