Linda,

Have a safe trip to Dallas. When  I get off work today, we are heading down the mountain to pick up my babies. We have a weekend planned full of fun and excitement.

Ladies, have a good day.

I'm back finally! Had a crazy couple of days...nothing big, just active....I had card class, jewelry class, Bunco, and a sick daughter that couldn't get an appointment to se her doctor so I sat with her at a Urgent Care...That took f o r e v e r....then when the doctor finally came in he would not stop talking politics...we just wanted to escape...

Now it is Friday again already!  Al's brother will be here in a few hours to spend the night. Then the two of them are driving to Colorado for a weeklong vacation, leaving me a bachelorette for over a week....I love my alone time so it is definitely ok with me.

Im thinking about some new goals that will translate into more discipline and health. The goals that I made before are pretty ingrained now and I'm ready to take the next step. I will start a thread on that tomorrow. Chime in now...spring has sprung and I am sure you are enjoying the change.

Julia

Hello, everyone....I am up late due to a restless night...fortunately I had no meetings or appointments early today.

First on my agenda was to take my supplements and a hot chocolate protein drink. DONE. PHONE work  DONE. EMAIL business (I'm negotiating/organizing a 3 day provincial conference for our BPW as well as our 100th birthday celebration  with 100 women from all over the province & that includes alot of planning)...DONE. WATER IN...DONE. Before I leave home this afternoon at 4 pm, I will have another protein drink again to avoid those sudden temptation while looking at the menu. Truth is, I find, for myself, that those TEMPTATIONS are far more MENTAL/EMOTIONAL than physical.

I am meeting a friend for dinner this evening and have already acquainted myself with the menu there and made my choice...fish. Then we both head to a mutual friend's place out of town for a EUCHRE evening. I made a Black Forest Ice Box Cake to take along. I am realistic. I will take a tiny piece but will stick to the cheese, fruit and veggies & water..no wine for me. I have prepped a salad and stuffed green pepper for JB's supper whenever he gets back inside...he and Derek (younger son) are outside sprucing up the farms. They will come in at sunset & Derek will head to work..he runs a big BBQ each weekend at a local club.

So I am prepared for my intake for the day. Doing this more definitively gives me a much better sense of control and helps me stick with it.

Although, due to extra meetings and an unplanned meeting with a friend yesterday, & my son and hubby's farm work hours suddenly changing, my meal plan went all to H E double toothpix. So I ate alone, I made a bowl of rolled oats and added a huge scoop of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnut pieces, sliced almonds and dried cranberries...all good. I even added extra skim milk powder to the regular milk to add more protein. That was more than enough for me and NO cravings which is *******ways try to have emergency backup plans.

This morning, I weighed in with NO weight gain and a small partial weightloss but I have NEVER been this low in decades and am so grateful to see me at 288 pounds instead of 431 pounds! Yes, it's been TEN YEARS since my surgery but it still works if I WORK IT.

I deserve this, I have come too far to let myself down once again. Maybe I needed to come to that perception to complete my journey...just my thoughts.  Maybe I had to learn to honour myself instead of doing the people-pleasing thing all of my life.

Good afternoon all!

This has been a crazy week so I haven't posted as much as I would have liked. However I am on an hour drive to pick up the pup we picked out so I have time to write...

I have only been to Dallas once with the sole purpose of visiting Southfork...lol! I was a die-hard Dallas fan & just had to see it even if most of the show was filmed in LA.

Linda, enjoy your trip!

Nancy, do you live on a farm or ranch? Sounds like the lifestyle you were describing, but I also remember you saying your husband was an engineer...

I remember being so happy when I got to 300...then 275...then 250 & I am okay now as long as I eat healthy & keep losing.

Julia, how old is your daughter? Sorry she has not been feeling well...ER visits are never fun! Enjoy your solitude. I am hardly ever alone so when Jim & Jazz run errands & I have the house to myself I love it!

Jeannie, enjoy going up & down the mountain to see your grandkids. I know you treasure those times & they look forward to the adventures & things you share.

We went to look at this pup earlier this week. He has been weaned & checked out by a vet. We will be taking him for his shots, etc. Jazz named him Bailey. Cannot wait to see him & get my hands on him & train him from puppyhood. Tink was already trained when we got her last year. Gee how I miss her!

We have our annual May Days fest this weekend. It is both rich in history & loads of fun. Jim likes the antique car show & I like the parade. So that is our main plan for the weekend.

Well we are almost to our destination!

Kathy

Hello, Kathy:

Actually hubby and I have a small property, seven acres, and our younger son, Derek, lives and is property manager for the small seven acre farm next door.  We used to grow wheat and top-quality hay but it got to be that bringing in machinery to cut & bale cost more than the sales so we allowed another neighbour (who had livestock and couldn't afford much) to cut and bale our continuing fields of hay ...we help him, and our fields looked nice and tidy *s*. Hubby is a retired Machinist & our son, Dan is an Electronic Engineer & a Pilot, & Derek is a Mechanical Engineer with his own business. ...me, I'm just an illustrator, artsy-fartsy kinda gal.

We live in the boonies, part of a very historic area in Niagara...known, not only for the history (War of 1812 fought in our back fields) but also tender fruit country and wine country...we live about 12 minutes downriver from the Niagara Falls. So we are surrounded by fruit orchards, vineyards and a forest...only 4 houses on our road and I love it here. I can sit out on my verandah in my nightgown and drink a cup of tea at look up at the dark skies filled with stars and listen to the owls, the coyotes and all the other nighttime critters who live here.  I could never live in the city again. We also love animals and rescue feral cats.

I have been reading regularly again, but my days are so busy, I hate to bore everyone by explaining why.

Right now I am so thrilled to have gotten under that 300 mark and now at 288. I feel so much better just because it seems that I am more in control. Looking at getting two knee replacements, seeing the surgeon in June. He had said to lose 75 pounds, I am more than halfway there now. It would be wonderful to be able to move w/o pain.

It sounds like almost everyone is slated for a happy weekend....sending love and healing to those needing it.

Kathy

You are brave to want to puppy train.  If I were to ever have a dog I would want it to come pre trained.  Lazy me.

Hope your May Day fest was a lot of fun.
