Hey Linda!
I have noticed that, too, but attribute it to several possibilities:
1) ppl over 50 researching surgery
2) former participants following up, but not having the time to post OR feeling they have nothing to contribute
3) ppl just being generally nosy since we are a small group that discloses alot of personal info
Who knows what the draw is? But interesting the daily number of views!

Linda,
I have thought that too. I think a lot of the lurkers are either old timers who feel that they have lost connection to us or people about to have surgery and are looking for information but aren't ready to comment. For the lurkers, come out, come out, wherever you are...we miss you....and to those looking for information, we don't bite. If you ask, we will answer.
But, this brings me to a very good point. People leave the board for a variety of reasons and over the years, some have dropped in and said hello but then leave again. I think as a group of women, we are all fantastic, but also, the board has to offer something of importance to bring people in and get them to stay. I know there have been times when I would come on the board (not lately) and there would be just all this negative energy and it became very easy for me to slip into the same mindset of moaning and groaning or, even if I didn't participate, I would spend the day seeing the negative of life. One of our problems that all of us have is that we have, for whatever reason, held onto destructive thoughts that have predicted our failures...you know just as bad as the stress hormones are for storing fat and slowing down our metabolism, negative thinking creates a self fulfilling prophecy that will, consequently, happen...so no matter how happy a person is or how optimistic a person is, if she enters a board and reads negative or hateful ramblings, then she will see the negative in her surroundings as well....I'm not saying that we cannot rant on the board because we all need to have a place where we can be honest and complain about things that we might not have anyone else to listen to us....but when the board becomes day in and day out of moaning and groaning, it has lost its usefulness for inspiring and motivating. I think that if we just keep right on with our helpful and positive posts, some of our old timers will come out of the shadows....that's my hopes. I think we should do a reunion weekend post session that we can announce for a few weeks in advance to give them all the heads up and then maybe a few will come out and talk to us....you think we should try it?
I will be in Hot Springs Village closing on a condo sale around the 23rd of May so end of May just might work. Where? I do love Mountain View even though it is a couple of hours from Little Rock airport. The cabins on the grounds are not fancy but they are clean and comfortable and the rates are reasonable. They are priced at 72.00 and 79.00 depending on whether they have a deck or not and contain 2 queen beds or a King. I'd double check but I know those prices are correct within a dollar or two. The purpose of the park is to preserve the old time crafts and music. If you enjoy the simple, timeless crafts of candle making, basket weaving, broom making, quilting, etc etc you will enjoy the craft village. If you consider these things too old fashioned or "red neck" you might not. The music is the same...Old time mountain music. Concerts are lively with square dancing and jigging and the audience is encouraged to participate in jigging or waltzing. Oh drats!!!!my power just went off. These last few weeks have been crazy. Well my battery is at full power so I'll keep going.
The park is self contained so there would be no reason to leave unless the restaurant and burger place don't suit our taste. If you are staying at the park the nightly concerts are $10 if not they are $15. If we wanted to leave and do something else there are caves in the area and I understand there is a small town close by that is supposed to be interesting. It is Calico Rocks, I have not been there but my hubby says its good for a couple of hours. Has a museum.
