When Will It Warm Up Saturday??!!
Good Morning Ladies... When is Spring going to stick around...the weather this past week has been c.r.a.z.y. to say the least. Shoveling snow one day, and no jacket needed the next day, then then flood gates opened....
Well, still waiting for the asbestos report to come in so the demotion can begin. It will happen soon, I know, but some days I get anxious to get back in my old place. Shirley is super great, and I know we'll miss each other once I move to my new home, but I'm looking forward to "my space" again. Everything is lined up, just waiting for the one report.
I'm practically on a first name basis with the workers at the local Salvation Army, I go so often. I'm shopping for bargains, and finding them. I've got my living room set, and a night table and several lamps and a huge mirror. There's a beautiful queen sized sleigh bed that's calling my name, but I've got to figure out how to get it to my place. The workers there can't help, and I've tried Joe and one of neighbors, but no luck. I was thinking of renting a U-Haul and I could probably get some guy shopping at S.A., or someone going/coming from the hardware store right next store to S.A. to just help me load it on the van, and when I get it home, I'll be able to handle it. In the past, I've moved several large pieces of furniture. Sometimes I get great deals. The other day as I was checking out, I noticed a Keurig coffeemaker on the floor by the register. They were holding it for a woman, and told her she had to be back to pay for it before 6:00, or they would put it back on the shelf. It was $19.99, new it would be over $100 crazy. (I know it's crazy to pay that for a coffeemaker, but it was one splurge I was going to treat myself to. So next morning, at 10:04 I was in the store, and the Keurig was not by the register, but back on the shelf. I grabbed it quick. The clerk explained it needed a small replacement part where the pod sits, and it would cost $8.00 to order it. I found it on Amazon and ordered it. Score! But I'm committed to limiting any additional buys to bedframes and a kitchenette set. I did miss out on a beautiful patio set - table and four cushioned chairs someone got for $34.00 - it was in beautiful shape. If you don't go every day, you can miss out on a great deal. I feel like a favored niece of Aunt Sally!!
Trish, I'm sorry you're struggling like I was shortly after Jim passed. I had to get out of the house and start doing volunteer work, because I was sinking into a big black hole. So, I do a lot of volunteer work now and it helps me a lot. And I've started reading more, and am trying to relearn crocheting. I also purchased a coloring book last night - I'll give that a try.
Connie, I'm glad you'll have a chance to visit with Kyleigh and Mitch - it's always (well, usually) nice to have company. And I've got to get back in the habit of planning my menu ahead of time - it really makes a big difference.
Yvonne, Happy Birthday!! I hope you enjoyed your cake. I'm sorry you got rejected on the dating sight -- I'm sure you'll meet some people there. I've never actually registered on a sight, but there is one I visit once in a while and some of the men seem quite nice - just be careful and follow the safety rules, like meeting for coffee in a public place first, etc.
I've actually started a "friendship" with a fellow who was my real estate agent many years ago. My husband met him at a bus stop when Maura and his daughter were going to summer camp. He sold our house, and helped us with others after that. I had met his wife and went to their home a few times to visit, then lost touch because Jim did not "allow" me to visit friends. After the fire I called him to see if he could help me out and we've been going out for "companionship" lately...he's very nice and keeps saying how he enjoys spending time with me, but I'm not sure if I want it to progress any further....
Eileen, hope things work out well at work. When I was going to go on disability, I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to make ends meet, but it has worked out well for me. I got into a "bad" situation because I allowed Jim to overspend with my money....my own fault. Without him, I was doing fine. BTW, I can't believe hewhoshallnotbenamed put you down as a reference. What nerve.
Vickie, I'm sure you'll do fine babysitting ... but I'm sure you'll be exhausted too! Take those naps every chance you get!!
Judy, sounds like things are "as usual" at your place....c.r.a.z.y.!!!
Have a good day everyone!!
Mary
Have a good day all.
Good Morning Mary and OFF,
I meant to check in yesterday, but didn't get on my laptop except to check the weather.
Mary, I am glad you are finding bargains at the Salvation Army. I hope you're able to get the sleigh bed. I love mine.
We got about an inch of snow last night, and it has stuck to the roads and driveway. Yuck!
I went to Meijer after an appointment, yesterday. I found two tops I love. They were buy one, get the other for $1. Now, I need to find my blue dress pants. I hope to wear one of them for my son's graduation in June. When I got home, his graduation present was at my door. I got him a marble desk name plate. It is heavy. I hope he likes it. His wife liked the idea.
I have paperwork to do today, after I get home from my AA meeting.
Got a text from Chris last night. He's in Chile for school. It's a global immersion trip, for international business, for his MBA studies. I don't remember him mentioning it before, but then I don't remember a lot of stuff these days.
Vickie, I don't understand why Chris can't see that you can't manage the boys and Caralee on your own. I once had Colleen's three and her three nieces for a few hours. It was chaos, but it was only for a few hours, and it was for a special reason. It went okay, because Isabel helped me when the three year old niece had a potty accident on the basement steps. But, the hard part was the infant. She couldn't be put down for long.
I have to scoot.
Love,
Trish

Good morning sistas! Just a quick post today. Last night went okay. Up at 2, then again at 5, and up for good at 7 a.m. I'll be okay if they all go like that.
I'm keeping the boys this afternoon from 1 to 5. I know it's ridiculous. But mom said she would watch/hold the baby while the boys are here. I don't know why I even bother to try and set boundaries with Chris. She never respects them.
Thinking about everyone today. Mary good to hear from you!
Love you all!
Hello Mary and everyone....
Mary...you sure do get good deals at your Salvation Army. The Salvation Army here has mostly junk. It sure isn't how it once was. They got a new director. Maybe things will change.
I hope they get that report to you soon. I can't blame you for wanting your own place. Even though your friend is treating you well, it just isn't home.
As for me....I am just so fatigued it is awful. I haven't felt well physically for a couple weeks. That is finally passing but not the tiredness. I just don't get much done. I am hardly ever on my computer...mostly my phone.
Kyleigh and Mitch ran to Target for me. There was a great buy on bathroom tissue. I sent them to get four 12 packs for me. I love to keep things stocked up!!
I see the kids are back...need to go....I will try to stop back later!!
Prayers for our amazing OFF Family and their families. Special prayers for those in need.
GOD BLESS....I LOVE YOU ALL!!
More love and oodles of hugs to all.....connie d
Hi Ladies,
I'm not up to too much today. I went to the rehab center to visit my friend. She was doing a little better. Then came home and did houseswork. I cleaned my TV screen then I was getting the vacuum, the TV came on by itself and the volume was blaring so I went over to turn it off. It came back on so I turned the volume down but it went back up so I unplugged it. Waited a while and tried it again but it did the same thing. Exchange the TV in the bedroom but I can't get my dvd player to work. I wanted to watch movies today but I will keep working on it.
Thoughts and prayers for everyone.
Love and hugs,
Yvonne
