Saturday Morning It Is

Good Morning OFF,

Vickie, great family picture.

I was sick as a dog yesterday.  Urgent care put me on antibiotics and antinausea meds.  Sinus infection, etc.  Same old, same old.

I had hoped to take Utley to a doggy Easter Egg Hunt, but I'm still weak, and the pollen count is high.

I have a bunny cake to make for tomorrow.  It's two layers with one cut with ears and a bow tie.  I need more powder sugar, and have to check my food color.  I also need to get some Easter M&Ms.

Must scoot.

Hugs,

Trish

Good morning Trish and my sistas!

Oh, Trish, I'm sorry you are sick.  And on Easter weekend, too!  Boo!  Hope you feel better soon, hon.

Jeannie, I didn't get to respond the other day to the news about your dear hubby.  I am praying that he does not have cancer again.  I hope he will start to feel better soon, too.  I understand what it means to have a desperately ill spouse.

I only have a minute here today.  We are keeping the boys again this afternoon, and I need to get several things done before they arrive.  Today we are dying eggs (already have them boiled) and making an Easter cake.  So fun in the kitchen today!

Trish, my Easter cake is a single layer square, surrounding by Peeps bunnies, and topped with green coconut "grass" and jelly bean "eggs".  I also have some chocolate "bugs" to go in the grass.  The boys will love it!  Take and post a picture of your cake, and I'll take a picture of mine, okay?

And tonight we have to get the boys' baskets ready and stuff the plastic eggs with candy for the Easter egg hunt tomorrow.  I'm so glad my back yard is semi-finished and there are lots of places to hide eggs this year!

Okay, I've got to scoot, ala Trish!  Love you all!

Hi Vickie,

I started feeling better after I woke up, so I took Utley down to the city's Easter Egg Hunt, where my Munchkins were.  It was my first big walk since my surgeries.  He did great.  The kids had fun.  Saw a lot of folks from church.  Kids got lots of eggs.  Since they divided the kids by grade, I went with Lincoln, Trent had Franklin.  Izzy's old enough so she went alone.  Colleen was busy working. They made out great, plus they saw almost all their cousins.  It's organized by my former church, and an artist does an Easter presentation with the kids, involving a game.  After the hunt, they do drawing for big prizes, bikes for the big kids, scooters and bunnies for the preschoolers.  Munchkins didn't win this year, nor since I moved here.

I will definitely take a picture of the cake.  I definitely want to see your's.

Hugs,

Trish

Hello Vickie.....it does sound like a busy kitchen day at your house!! The kids will love of it all!! I like that cake that you are making too. People have been posting it on Facebook the last few weeks. Have FUN!!!

You haven't mentioned how the apartment hunting went with Carrie and  your mom. Anything even a little acceptable? She will have to adjust to not having everything exactly the way she wants it. I hope it works out soon.

Love and hugs to you....connie d

Vic,

We are taking things a little at a time. He didn't quite understand why the oncologists is involved without there being a positive biopsy so he thinks the oncologists is working with his prostate doctor....anyway, hopefully we get a plan soon.

I always make birds nest with my grandkids and they are so easy to make. I use those Hostess short cakes and make white powder sugar icing.  We die coconut green or whatever color the kids want and we use jelly beans.  The older kids are able to spread the white icing all over their short cake and I do it for the little ones and then they can put the coconut (grass) in the cup part of the cake as if it is a nest and then they put the jelly beans....we usually make some with and some without coconut and the ones without can be used with strawberries.

We are going to my sister's tomorrow for the egg hunt. My granddaughter is the youngest of the kids, the rest being teenagers, but the big kids still hunt eggs with her. I sure do dread going down there with Kenny being sick so I may get there for the egg hunt so that I don't have to spend too long. If Kenny feels like it, we may stay longer but he is so sick.

Have a good Easter.

Hello Jeannie......I am so sorry about the news of Kenny's illness. I hope all works out well for him. It must be hard for you to deal with this too. I am keeping you both in my thoughts.

I hope I never get anything spilled on my computer again!! Thanks for the advice. I will tip it over right away! Last night I put the keyboard cover back on the keys. I had taken it off the evening before the spill. I seem to have to hit the keys little harder with it on. That is why I took it off in the first place.

I remember making birds nests too. I always used the short cakes. Some people make them with chocolate and chowmein noodles. I don't care so much for those.

Have fun at your sister's egg hunt!

Love and many hugs to you....connie d

Good Afternoon Trish and everyone....

Trish....I am so sorry you are so sick. I hope the medications help soon.

I am glad you scratched the dog Easter Egg Hunt. If you are weak you don't need to be outside doing that. Pollen is high. I have had a runny nose for weeks now.

That bunny cake is going to be so cute! I use to make them all the time when my girls were young. They made them for their children when they were young too. I am sure your grandchildren will love it too!!

Try to get some sleep this afternoon if you can. You need rest to get better.

Love and hugs to you...connie d

Hey Trish,

I used to make the bunny cake with the big ears. LOL...when my kids were teenagers and I sort of had hoped to stop with the Easter egg/basket/cake stuff, my son and daughter both threw a fit but my daughter makes it now and does a pretty good job.

If the pollen is as high where you are as it is here, you need to stay put...I swear my nose is bright red and my eyes will not quit crying...These Ozark Mts. are toxic with pollen.

Ladies, have a good Easter.

Hi sistas!

Wow, I am wiped out!  Very very very busy day!  But we did some fun things with the boys today and I got a couple of pictures to share.  Trish, here's our Easter cake.  How did yours turn out?

After the boys left, I worked out in my yard for a couple of hours.  I transplanted some petunias and things I've been growing in pots on the back porch out into my new flower beds.  I'm as ready for the Bunny to hide eggs tomorrow as I can manage.

I think I'm too tired to eat supper.  I just want a bath and bed.  Love you all!
