Hello Thursday
Hello ladies
I am up showered, dressed, ate breakfast, and now before I head out to the festival I wanted to say good morning. Yesterday after the Y I drove the 5 hours to Port Allen. Luckily the predicted rain did not manifest itself but it was very windy. My jelly arns from training had a hard time holding my car on the road from Lake Charles all the way in to Port Allen. Today I am sore but it not unbearable. Will see what happens when I try to play and instrument. Rain is coming just don't know how bad. Better scoot.
Good morning Linda and everyone.....
It sounds like other then the drive your road trip went well. I hope you do as well playing your instrument today!! I hope the rain holds off for at least part of the day.
As for me..... I am trying to keep busy and get the things I need to have done for Saturday. Not really all that much to do. Mostly just food prep. I need to cook the beef and shred the chicken for the enchiladas tomorrow. I am hoping tonight to get my chocolate chip cookies baked. I have the dough all made up in the refrigerator. My cleaning fairy was here yesterday and did a great job cleaning and doing laundry. Everything is all clean and fresh!!
I am going to try my best to get out for a walk today. It is still only 34 degrees, but it is supposed to hit 60 later this afternoon. I am working on getting my legs strengthened up. Then maybe I won't tire so easily and will be able to walk further. Walking has always been my favorite exercise. I am so grateful to GOD for bringing it back to me.
Wishing you all a beautiful day!!
I will stop back later to check in with the rest of you.
Prayers for our loving OFF Family and their families. Special prayers for those in need.
Loads of love and bunches of hugs to all....connie d
Hi Linda and Connie and my OFF family to come:
It is pouring rain again. I got up at 8 a.m. with the idea I'd go to the Y. But at 10:15 I dozed off and didn't get up until after 11 a.m. Oh well. I have been tired since Tuesday. I slept on and off yesterday. I think the weather has done this to me. Plus the various body aches and pains.
When I got up at 11 a.m., I took a shower, washed my hair and then had another cup of coffee. Didn't work. Still tired. Oh well. I don't have to wor****il 3:30 p.m. Maybe I'll perk up by then.
This thumb sprain doesn't appear to be getting any better. The soft splint doesn't help at all. Hand still hurts.
Have fun at the festival, Linda. Hope you can still play.
Connie, glad you can walk again. I'm hoping the neurostimulator that gets put in my back next week will help my back and leg pain sufficiently that I might be able to walk more. Of course, I said that about the knee replacements and yet, here we are. Oh well.
Anyway, I'm watching an exciting Big Ten basketball tournament game between Northwestern and Michigan. It's tied 52-52. Northwestern is definitely an underdog.
Have a good day.
My apologies for having you think that you may have slept thru THURSDAY...The last ten days have been rough...extra bone pain and unable to sleep. HOWEVER, last night (that is actually Wednesday night), I actually slept solid..the first time in ten days and today (Thursday,I hope), I feel like a new woman.
It's raining all day today but I am busy working in my office. I paid my hydro bill yesterday..rural hydro is very expensive here which is quite ironic considering that we live so close to NIAGARA FALLS (Hydro Generation)...but I just paid $732.32 for the month of February! We live in the boonies so we have no gas lines here and oil is obselete, so we have a HEAT PUMP. Unfortunately, when the temps drop, the heat pump switches to ELECTRIC heat and we have had record cold temps here this winter. Thankfully, the temps are much milder now...certainly, nature is confused here..it is far too early for leaf buds and daffodils poking out of the ground and we can expect snow still until the end of April here.
Now I am doing more research for paperwork in my office and will head to town to get these documents copied and laminated and give copies to all levels of our organization...our BPW club is the oldest BPW club in Canada so these papers are very valuable to have. At 100 years, our original charter got lost along the way and now I am working on getting a new copy of the original charter and making sure that more people have a copy so no one has to go thru the months of research that I have been doing.
At the same time, I am making up boxes of "stuff" that needs to go- donate, recycle and garbage...why do I keep all of this? But just FEELING better after a good sleep makes such a difference for me and I am more capable of doing things.
Please know that, although I may not actually mention anything, I am aware of the challenges that so many of us are experiencing and that my thoughts & prayers are with you and your families.
Next week is SPRING BREAK time here. The elegant PRINCE OF WALES Hotel in the Old Town is hosting an AFTERNOON TEA all week..normally it is around $50/person so I won't pay that. However, for Spring Break, they are offering an AFTERNOON TEA (2 for the price of one which works out to $25 each)...very elegant and very good price. I can never eat it all so I usually bring about 2/3 of my scones, cookies, sandwiches and pastries home and that somehow disappears thanks to JB & Derek. OUR BPW EXECUTIVE Meeting will be at this tea. Always fun.
It seems, for me, that the best way to eat is a number of small snacks rather than three meals a day..easier on my tummy, less drowsiness and more energy. My breakfast is usually a hot chocolate protein drink (MATRIX.5) followed by tiny snacks of assorted nuts, a few crackers(all wheat or rice) & cheese or a yogurt or piece of fruit. I eat supper with JB but often will take the meat(1/2 portion), let it cool and dice it then add to a salad, add more seeds and nuts, dried cranberries and use LIGHT poppyseed dressing (Renee's)..that way I avoid the temptation of potatoes which I love (or rice or pasta) and I feel full and, at the same time, get lots of fibre in.
I'm still drinking alot of water (hot or cold). Doing this, I find that the occasional sweet treat doesn't seem to make any difference in my weight...naturally I keep that to a minimum. I know that, on Sunday, we will be attending a family birthday, and I will have a small Dutch pastry without guilt. I avoid pop and cannot drink alcohol because of my cancer meds (makes me SOOOO drunk right away...lol) so that alone avoids a lot of useless calories. BEING AWARE of what I eat is a major factor for me...and knowing WHY I am eating.
We all have to find what works best for our own body and metabolism so I am always interested in hearing how others manage too.
Well back to office clearing. Have a wonderful day!
Nancy
Like you I find small meals throughout the day work better for me than 3 meals. I eat oatmeal or a boiled egg for breakfast a little later something with a few crackers. Either cheese, tuna, or peanut butter usually. Then later a half sandwich or salad with some protein. Finally I'll have a protein and veggies. I may have some fruit somewhere as well. No two days are alike as far as my tummy is concerned
