Monday Monday
I'm back. We had a snow run last night, so I was out of work at 8:30 p.m. Boss was worried about the possibility of a big storm. We got maybe an inch, if that. Kids are off from school because of it. They give kids off for the mere mention of snow. And it's already melting out there.
Anyway, I got up early and didn't sleep all that well last night. My back has been bothering me lately ... so bad that my left leg has been buckling on me. And then I have this spot on my right leg down on the front between my knee and my ankle that feels like a deep bruise, but it's not bruise. I don't remember bruising it, but it sure hurts a lot. I put some Voltaren gel on it last night, and it seemed to help. Still hurts a bit, but not as much as it did last night.
Not much else happening. Gary was called early this morning and told not to work ... Kentucky got more snow than we had, and he drives a lot of cars into Kentucky. So he's going to his church's Monday lunch group luncheon. He's getting ready to go now. Good for him that he's making friends. More than I have, but then all I do is eat, sleep and work.
Well, nothing else to say. So glad to see Carrie and the baby doing so well. She looks radiant. I didn't realize at first that she had a C-section until Vickie wrote about it. Hope she recovers well. Looks like the baby is very healthy.
Just got an email we do have an early run, just a little early. Guess I should get in the shower and get going. Chat away!
Eileen and Ladies,
We are having a very lovely day here with sun and warmer temperatures. Eileen, we are just like where you live...the mere mention of snow and the shelves at the grocery store are emptied out and the schools all close.
I agree that Carrie is glowing. I remember after my babies were born, I looked like I had just donated twenty pints of blood....The baby has a nice alert look and her cheeks are rosy so I'd say she is healthy and fit. We will keep her, right Vic?
I am at work and am about to go to a couple of meetings about my staff. I have 12 student workers of which all but three are graduate students, mostly PhD students. We are going to create three full-time positions and two of my PhD students will transition into those full-time positions but the third position will require a PhD in hand or, in the least, all but dissertation. So, the meeting is about the pay of these three full-time positions and the extra benefits that we give such as how many conferences will we fund. That kind of thing. I hate these kinds of meetings because I am fighting for my future full-timers while the deans will be saying but...can we get them cheaper...you know. I've asked that the PhD in hand employee start out at 45000 a year with two funded conferences and the deans want us to start him or her out 40,000...well, I am not giving a dollar on this. I would hate to think of someone having a PhD or close to it and making less that 40,000...I just won't budge. I wish I could pay them all much more. My saving grace is that I can raise their pay quickly and significantly over the next two years. I hate being the boss for the very reason of fighting all the time with administration.
Well, that sums up my *****ing of a day and I need to get some lipstick on and get ready to go fight...they ought to know that I am not easy. LOL
Ladies, have a good day. Eat healthy and move...even if you only move a little bit. and please, please, please, work on eliminating the stress in your lives...me too...I need to practice what I preach.
Hello Jeannie..... so glad you are having beautiful weather. We all do better when the sun shines.
I hope your meetings go well for you and your staff. I would hate fighting with administration too. They don't always see things the same way you do. All you can do is try. I have faith in you!
Have a wonderful day...love you and hugs too...connie d
Good morning Eileen and everyone....
Eileen....I am glad you survived the snow storms ....LOL!!!!! This must just make you laugh...closing schools...oh brother!! At least you got out of work earlier
So sorry about the leg and back pain you are having again. I hope you can figure out what is causing it. My left leg is hurting bad again too. I think it is probably more scar tissue I need to have removed again. I love that Voltaren Gel it really does help especially with my hands.
I hope you start feeling better and can get put and go to church groups and meet people like Gary does. We can never have enough friends. I know with all the pain you have it isn't easy to get out too often. You need to rest up so you can do your job.
I better let you go get ready being you must go in to work early.
I hope you evening goes well....love you...hugs.....connie d
Connie, I am not a churchgoer. I respect others' religious beliefs and I believe in a God, but not religion. Too many have been hurt by religion. And I don't see going to church just to make friends. So I don't go. Besides, after my Saturday nights, I'm so tired, I can barely move to go to work on Sunday. I have to find another way to make friends.
Hi Eileen....is there a singles group that gets together near you?? Not necessarily to meet men.....just other ladies. I always enjoyed the singles groups around here. I only went to a few dances and things but it was really fun.
I understand about your choice in religion. Everyone must find there own way. You believe in GOD and that is what matters.
Love you ....hugs....connie d
Good Afternoon Eileen and OFF,
Eileen, could the kids be off from school because it's Presidents Day? That's why my Munchkins have off here. Most schools are closed today. Banks and city offices are closed here, and back home.
I finally got back to my regular girl for a haircut. Hadn't seen her since before my surgery in November. Plus, I colored it over the weekend. I lightened it, and it is sort of dark strawberry blond.
I have bills to pay and phone calls to make.
Must scoot.
Hugs,
Trish
