Tuesday Talk
Hi Ladies,
I've been here everyday reading but not posting since I don't have much happening or to say. Over the weekend I made chocolate chip cookies and went on a binge eating of them so my weight was up again this week. At least I gave half of them away. I just got two left for today. Then I will be back on track. Eating more vegetables is going good. It's a cold day here with snow showers later on. Right now it's just spitting. I can't wait for spring to get here so I can get outside. Next week I go to the bariatric Dr for my 18 month checkup. I know I'm not going to get to my goal weight I set but close.
Everyone have a good day. Thoughts and prayers for everyone.
Love and hugs,
Yvonne
Hello Yvonne....I thought about making Chocolate Chip cookies today. I managed to say no to them one more time. I like you wouldn't have been able to say NO to them!!! I have been craving them for a long time!
I wish you well at your 18 month check up. I think you have done better then you think! You are probably still losing inches. I remember those times when I got thinner but my weight stayed the same. I was walking three miles every morning seven days a week. My surgeon reminded me that muscle weighs more then fat. Losing just inches is fine. Your weight loss will start up again!
Prayers...love and hugs to you....connie
Yvonne,
Those times when we backslide on our diets are minor setbacks and getting back on track is crucial and you did that so kudos to you.
My tutors brought in donuts today and for me they brought some fruit because they know I get sick when I eat donuts but they had these chocolate dipped glazed donuts and I had to taste them...of course, I immediately started feeling nauseated and am so lucky that I have that problem with sugar...I don't complain because so many of my sisters can eat sugar without getting sick...if I could eat sugar, trust me, I'd be eating cookies every single day...
Hello sistas,
Just wanted to give y'all an update after Carrie's visit to the OB this afternoon.
So. Baby is lower and in position. Carrie is about 80% effaced, but not very much dilated. Things are progressing, but nothing seems imminent at this point. But Dr. Redman offered her a deal: we went ahead and scheduled an induced delivery for next Tuesday (her due date) unless the baby comes on her own earlier. Carrie can certainly change her mind about inducing labor between now and then. But the "spots" available at the hospital to induce fill up quickly and if she does want to have the baby next week, she needs to schedule for it now.
Anyway, if she does choose to induce, she'll go in Monday evening and spend Monday night with a balloon catheter in her cervix to open her up to about 4 centimetres by Tuesday morning. Then they'll break her bag of waters, start the pitocin drip, and Caralee will be born sometime that day.
Carrie is so torn! I keep telling her that the baby will come when she's ready. And that very well might be this week. But I also don't think it's a risk or a problem to induce labor at 40 weeks (which is what she will be next week). So we're packed and ready for baby Caralee whenever she decides to come. But no later than next Tuesday, no matter what.
Carrie is hot and I'm about to freeze to death in here! I have on socks, house shoes, flannel pj pants, a long sleeved tee, and a fleece robe!
I went to Sam's Club today and lucked out with some inexpensive clothes. I bought some velour pants and tees for our stay in the hospital. I can sleep in these and still be decent enough to go up and down the halls or down to the cafeteria. Carrie tested positive for some kind of strep B virus, which means that she needs antibiotics before she delivers so that she doesn't pass the strep to the baby. But then the baby has to stay in the hospital for 48 hours for observation. So it looks like we'll be there for at least 3 nights. Luckily in the birthing rooms they have a guest bed (not a fold out couch but a real bed!), so I'll have a good place to sleep while we're there.
Looks like things are as scheduled as they can possibly be, but childbirth is never without surprises, so we will see what develops this week. In the meantime I'm crocheting and cooking. Carrie's last day of work is Friday. Chris and the boys are coming on Saturday. We are rocking and rolling around here. Talk to y'all tomorrow!
Hello again Vickie....thanks for the update on Carrie and Caralee.
So it looks like Tuesday, February 16th will be the day....YAY!!!!! We are all waiting for that little Princess!!
I am so glad the birthing rooms have a BED for you!! Those pull outs are okay for one night.
Hugs and love again......connie d
Vic,
I know Carrie is ready to have the baby but I can promise you that if she can wait for the baby to come on its own, it will be better for both her and the baby. I worked labor and deliver for 20 years before I had to change my profession and I hated to see the ladies getting induced because they were in hard labor for so long and were just worn out by the time the baby arrived.
Strep B is so easy to treat and I am glad they have her on antibiotics. She may do like I did: my doctor said you are not dilated and it looks like you have another two weeks...that night, I went into labor and four hours later, my daughter popped out...
I'm sure she will make the best decision...if she does get induced, make sure she gets the epidural...
