I love Thursdays

Good morning sistas,

Ahh, it's Thursday!  My sewing day. My day to do exactly what I want to do and nothing else!  Love it!

Yesterday was pretty tough.  I sat for SIX HOURS at the car dealership!  SIX!  I waited and waited and waited.  But, in the end, they were finally able to reprogram my one existing smart key (the one I found in Butch's coat pocket), and they only charge me $60!!!  Hallelujah!

I did have a couple of other small things for them to look at and holy cow!  The prices they charge to fix things!  My glove box will not close properly.  It will close, but it's crooked.  They want $70 to replace the broken latch!  Then one of my rear seat belts will not retract.  (Mike, in his infinite wisdom, fully extended it one time and it never has worked again.)  Turns out the mechanism in the roof of the car is busted (thanks so much for yanking on it Mike!) and they want--wait for it--$600 to fix it!!!  NO effin' way!  So it will remain dangling in my rear view mirror.

I'm amazed I walked out of there not owing thousands of dollars.

Well, anyway, what I really wanted to talk about was my food issue yesterday.  So, I got to the dealership at 9:30 and I figured I would be there a couple of hours, so I took some nuts with me for a snack.  Just a handful of almonds and cashews.  As you can imagine after six hours I was starving!  I finally broke down and went to the vending machine.  The most benign thing I could find was a package of cheese crackers, so I got those.  Not ideal, but not chocolate either.  But I just had to have something to eat.  My head was pounding.

Other than that, though, I did well with my food yesterday.  Last night, after dinner (six boiled shrimp, rice, and okra n tomatoes), I wanted something sweet.  Oh, it's a terrible craving!  But I finally had about a 1/2 cup of blueberries with just barely a sprinkle of sugar on them.  It worked.  Imagine that!

Connie, and everyone else who's interested, I cannot repeat all the reasons why switching to a plant-based diet works.  All I can say is I read all the evidence and I decided to try it and it's helping me tremendously!  The ubiquitous question, "where do you get your protein?" is a complicated one.  Obviously, I get my protein from plants and veggies.  If you're truly interested, I URGE you to read Dr. Garth's book, Proteinaholic.  There's even a companion website: www.proteinaholic.com This will give you some basic information before you invest in the book.

As far as the issue of "how much protein do we need?" goes, Dr. Garth addresses this in his book as well.  I am coming up on my five-year surgiversary.  Five years ago, Dr. Garth (like every other WLS on the planet) told me to eat protein--and lots of it--first.  But then he did all this research. He doesn't tell his patients that anymore.  If you want to understand WHY, you have to read the book.  I cannot possibly condense it all down into one or two small paragraphs here.  What I can tell you is that the evidence that we eat far too much protein (really to the exclusion of anything else) is overwhelming and it's killing us.  Eating lean chicken does not make us lean.  It makes us fat!

Now that's all I'm going to say.  If you want to argue it, read the book.

So, I didn't win the power ball last night.  LOL!  I didn't even get one number (which would have been worth $4!), so I lost my $2.  Oh, well . . .

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm off to sew a dust ruffle for the baby crib.  I have all the pieces done--I just have to sew it together.

Love you all!

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

Not much going on here, just work and work. Worked like a dog last night. Got to the office and threw things on the page and hardly had a moment to pee.

I had my appointment yesterday with the neuropsychiologist yesterday ... it was a big test. True-false test of 355 questions and then multiple choice test. "I hear voices." was one of the questions. Oh well ... Just to get a neurostimulator implanted.

Back to work tonight. Gary bought a Powerball ticket and didn't get a single number either.

Well, have a good day.

Hi Ladies,

The snow finally quit and it's supposed to warm up to 40 tommorrow. Get this they are predicting rain for tomorrow.  Today I'm getting out of the house to take my friend to the bank  and Goodwill. She is coming over for dinner. I made the double layer pumpkin pie dessert that they featured on OH.  Last night I went to Bible study  and we watched part of a movie. It is called War rooms. It was pretty good so I can't wait for next week.

Everyone have a good day. Thoughts and prayers for everyone.

Love and hugs,

Yvonne

So OK today I am starting to feel like I am becoming more like a human again...so I am sitting in my office doing some paperwork and I happen to look up and look out the window and see a police suv sitting there...umm ok...I get up to see if they are coming inside...WTH!! There are TWO police suv's sitting there and no police in sight!!! WHERE ARE THEY????? I call Rick and asked him if he saw where they went. Nope. OK...called Chase and asked him if he saw them over on other side. NOPE. O****p****ching outside and then HELLO!!!!!!!! Here they come with a guy handcuffed out of one of the apartments!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! I asked what was going on...they said they had a warrant for him...I asked who "HIM" was and they told me. I said oh really...well his mother was told and agreed verbally that her son was not allowed on property if she wanted to live here. Officer opened door up told HIM see this lady? She said you are NOT allowed on this property ever again! He said he didn't know but ok. Door shut again. Then I hear on scanner what they arrested him for...well turns out he IS a felon...not allowed here because its government funded for his mother. Also many other things he was wanted for also. Well I know have a trespass on him and took it to his mother and also to police department. He was still there and they gave him his copy. Never a dull moment here is there? LMAOOOOOOO

Tomorrow I have to do the lease for Monday's move in. Trying to get the Christmas things all taken down and put away. Did all of the other clubhouse today. Just have the flower stuff in my clubhouse yet to put away yet. Being sick sure has put me behind!!!

Well supper is ready...Rick made a pork roast...wonder if I can taste it?

Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!

HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Well, I don't know how many of you sew (or craft), but occasionally you have one of those days where NOTHING goes right.  That's been my day.  I have ripped seams and resewed them until I can't stand it anymore.  I finally shut it all down and took the dogs for a walk.  So THERE.

Think I'm going to have hoppin' john and greens for my dinner.  Yum!

Vic,

I hate those days when anything and everything that can will go wrong. I am not a naturalists when it comes to sewing; I can sew anything but it is something I have to work at.  So, if I have a bad day sewing, I put the machine up.  I feel your pain.
