Sewing Day Thursday!
Julia,
I swear the coloring books are so damn relaxing. I am doing a celtic knot one now and it is so much fun to just relax. I buy a bunch of very low calorie and low fat vegetables for snacking on. Tonight, I was needing just a little something so I threw a box of soybeans in the microwave...it took about 1 and half minute and they were steaming hot. They are a good snack to eat and they will draw impurities out of your intestine...and keep you regular. I also like to eat cucumbers and bell peppers for snacks...I really have to watch myself because I can easily go straight for the bread or crackers.
Stress has always been a problem for me too and I usually eat when I am stressed, which just adds to the stress because of the guilt...it's a vicious cycle so one way to stop the guilt is to do the healthy snacking....
I took all my colored pencils to my office today and sharpened them with my electric sharpener and on my lunch break, I colored on one of the designs.
I met with the meditation girl today and let me tell you she needs to write a book about stress, destressing, and avoiding stress....when she started talking to me about resting my mind so my body will calm down and right itself, she said everything I already knew but it was just so nice hearing her say it with such conviction....Today we worked on blocking out the noise...it's really hard.
We need to meet half way between here and there and spend a weekend coloring. I am heading to AZ again in October so maybe you can meet me at the Grand Canyon.
Great idea Jeannie. I can meet you in Arizona without a doubt. I have several coloring books going now...I am doing some meditating now and blocking out noise is not easy, at least for me, but I'm pretty new at this. I will go to the store tomorrow to get some more veggies to snack on...you are so right about guilt.
I want to go to Arizona too ... never been to the Grand Canyon, and it's on my bucket list (although I won't get to the bottom). I'll bring my coloring books on cats that I just ordered from Amazon. I'm going to get into this too ... I need something to occupy my time. I don't have a hobby or anything and I have to do something. I miss ceramics, but I don't think I could do it anymore because my hands shake so much. So I've done one picture in a book with Sharpies but didn't like the effect ... ordered colored pencils and two books on cats from Amazon.
Vic,
I love that you are making time for yourself. I love sewing days because it gives me uninterrupted project days. I really hope you are able to sell your lake house. I suspect you are like me with the needing to get all the loose ends tied up before you can relax.
Have you tried any of the veggie patties? I love the ones at Walmart...I think they are called heathy garden. They are in the freezer section but make sure they are all vegetable...I love the black bean ones and also the Mediterranean ones. They also have veggie sausage flavored patties which are also good for every once in a while.I try to eat the fish or seafood about twice a week and the rest of the time I eat a lot of beans, lentils, greens, veggie patties, soy, tofu, and you know, many other protein rich vegetables. I get more protein on this pescatarian diet than I ever did eating meat because, as you know, it's easier to eat a 1/2 cup of beans than it is to eat six ounces of meat.
I am going to try a couple of new grains soon which are really high in protein...I forgot the name.
I know when I cut out meat, I found my energy level went off the charts. I quit all that yawning and feeling so sluggish and I know it isn't for everyone but even if you just go one or two days a week without meat, you will find your body cleansing itself of so many of the bi products of the fatty meats that accumulate in your system.
Okay, enough of my lecture on healthy eating. Well, I gotta run...the days are flying by and soon you will be having a new baby around and that will make you feel like a teenager again.
Ladies,
This will be a very quick note. I am doing interviews for three new positions in my center and I have a stack of resumes and CVs of graduate students begging to work with me...it's not my pleasant personality, I'm sure, but that I pay the graduate students 20 bucks an hour and give them as many hours as they are able to work and the experience they get working with me increases their market value...so they all want to work in my center....that makes interviewing so damn hard because I know they are nervous and I try so hard to make the interviewing experience pleasant....I even send an email to those I don't hire explaining why and offering them another advise on how to improve their chances of getting hired by me...courses they could take...etc. So...the next couple of weeks will be hectic with interviewing and getting my course materials ready for the class I am going to teach.
I need to get off her and get ready for the sack...Ladies, I hope your night is good and I will try to be better at responding to everyone's comments...
Talk to you guys later,
