Good Afternoon Ladies.

Bbbbrrrrrr.......it's cold!  But tomorrow will be back in the 40s - although someone said there was going to be a storm on Saturday.  But if there is, I'll just stay inside.  So lucky that we're in January and the weather has been mild and we only had one storm - it was sleet/freezing rain and the roads were terrible that day.

Did my Food Share duty today --- always feel good when I go there.  It's a win-win situation - getting out of the house and being with people, and feeling good by making a difference and helping others.

I'm doing great foodwise - although I do miss my carbs.  I'm going to get some cauliflower to make "mock" mashed potato, and I have a recipe for cauliflower crust pizza, which people have raved about -- I'm interested to see if it's as good as people say.  I am determined to reach my goal - about 75 pounds to go.  I will do this.

Prayers and good wishes to all.

Mary

I have such faith in you Mary...you have shown such determination and going out to volunteer was an amazingly smart move on your part. You are the bomb girl!

Mary,

I love cooking with cauliflower. I make a mean bowl of caulitaters and I love roasted cauliflower.  I've never made the pizza crust but I've eaten it and it is delicious. Plus, if you keep a bowl of cauliflower cut up, it makes a perfect snack to grab when you are wanting crunchy.

I agree with Julia that you are doing wonderful and are making some very positive steps to take off the pounds.  I love working at the food bank. I am not able to do stocking but I organize the food drives and always take a food barrel in our center. Just knowing what they need makes it so much easier to get food and items that folks need.

Okay, y'all.  I did my best with my mom today, but let me just tell y'all privately that shopping with my mom is hell.  However, I gritted my teeth and refused to resort to rolling my eyes like an adolescent!  LOL!

I am feeling very virtuous this evening.  I am sticking to my resolve to ditch the cokes and the junk.  (Okay, I know it's only Day Two, but I AM doing it.) Just got back from the store and I shopped the produce dept. heavily.  Of course, now I'm waiting on Mom to get done with unpacking all of her groceries before I start on mine.  It just works better with only one of us in the kitchen at a time.

This morning I had oatmeal with pecans and blueberries and a small touch of Agave.  I took my quinoa salad in a small tupperware with me and ate that during our shopping so I wouldn't be starving when we got to the store.  Tonight I'm broiling a piece of trout and I think I'll have steamed broccoli and carrots with it.  So it goes.  Back on the wagon, right, sistas?!

It was fun shopping today.  I bought my first baby shower present for Carrie.  I got her the pack n play that she wanted.  Mom is giving her the travel system, which is an exceptionally nice gift!  I bought the extra base to keep in my car so we can just switch the baby back and forth between vehicles easily.

Oh, and speaking of Carrie, my poor darling girl!  She started throwing up last night.  Yep.  She got the same crud I had, so I guess it wasn't food poisoning at all.  I feel so badly that I wasn't there to take care of her today.  But one of her neighbors came over and made her soup and cleaned her kitchen and played "mom" for her.  I offered to drive up, but Carrie said "no".  She said she had already suffered through the worst of it overnight.  No point in me making the trip at the tail end of things.

I have some new recipes to try this week.  Most of them are vegan.  But I'm not quite ready to give up dairy, so I'll modify some of them a bit.  I'm a southern gal; I have to use a little bit of butter in my cooking!

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry.  It's fairly miserable weather here.  Connie, darlin', I know you're not feeling like posting much, but I think about you daily and miss you!  I hope you feel better soon!

Love you all!

Hi Vickie....I am doing the best I can. Nic and Stephanie just left to join everyone at The House of Pizza. I swear it is the best pizza in the world!!! It is a family favorite and has been since I was a child.

I hope tomorrow is a better day for pain. I am going to have something for dinner and then early to bed. I can't believe how much I have slept in the last several days.

I wanted to comment on beds. You mentioned yours to Mary. I have a queen size pillow top mattress. Not a cheap mattress set buy any means,  but well worth the money. It is great! THEN.... I found the memory foam. That is the best investment I ever made!! I feel like I am on a cloud!!! I also have the 2 inch foam. I love how it forms to my body. I rollover and it puffs right back up again. I will never sleep without one again. It is so comfortable and so comforting!!

So Mary G. if there is anyway to get a memory foam...a good one....you will love it and never go without one again!!

Love you Vickie...take care of you....HUGS....connie d

Vickie.....I don't know much about beds.  After Maura and Joe picked up the bed, I had to call the seller (I forget why) and she mentioned she had a memory foam bed for sale.  I called Maura because she needs a bed too.   She wasn't interested because she "heard" the foam beds get hot. I've seen commercials for the beds with cooling gel.  I get overwhelmed by too many choices!

Vic,

I think it's wonderful that you are working on being more patient with your mom. I have three sisters and a brother who are in their early 80s and late 70s and when I do things with them I get so impatient and I am going to make sure that I practice a little patience myself.

Giving up butter and cheese is going to be hard on me.  We don't use it a lot and mostly just for a little flavor but I have vowed that this year will be my big move from dairy and fish so I am going to try...we should do it together.

Evening OFF family...well today I had only 3 meltdowns. Yes 3!!! First one was when one of the tenants came in to pay her rent and we started talking about Geri...I lost it. I am going to miss her so much!!! Then another tenant comes in pay their rent and tells me his wife was just taken to Columbus by ambulance...they found another lump and could be cancer again...probably is knowing her past with cancer. I lost it again when a past tenant called about the deposit they got back. She said I sounded like I didn't feel good. I told her all the bad news around here and lost it...got myself back together again and Ricks ***** aunt calls me...like I needed her...she started in and I lost it with her...I can't take much more right now at all!!!!!!!!!!

Went to check the drop box for rent checks on other side...found two guys that were strangers to me standing around looking suspicious. I asked if they needed help. Black guy said no just chillin...him and the white guy walked away...both in different directions...one went in an apartment...I went in the club house and called the police!!!!!! They came right away but the car that had a couple other strangers in it left before the police arrived...one guy the white guy was back in the apartment again. Police went to apartment and talked to them to see what was happening. Ofcourse I can't know until report is filed....GRRRRRRR but I did get a trespass on the guy that has been staying here with the tenant...I had the police go with me to serve it to him. He had til 5:30 to get off the property today or be arrested for trespassing!!!! I have had it with him doing whatever it is and getting my tenants upset and afraid of him!!!!!!! If his girlfriend doesn't like it she can move out also!!!!!!!! Now to watch my back...this guy has a record a mile long and then some!!!!!!!!

Also today had to tell new tenants to get rid of their dog that they snuck in. No pet policy was signed when they moved in and I am getting many complaints on the dog barking a lot!!!!!! They tried telling me I knew all about this dog...ummm no I did not or there would have been a pet policy signed when they moved in!!!!!!!

Just got more great news...Chase is at the hospital...his dad has maybe an hour or two to live...I give up!!!!!!!!!!!! WTH is going on in this area?????????????????

I can't deal with it anymore....Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them......

HUGSSSSSSSSSSS

Hi Judy....I am so sorry you are having so many meltdowns. That place and those tenants are way crazy!! You are up against way more then you should be handling alone! I wish I could hop a plane, I swear I would be there to help you out in a heartbeat!!

I hope the scumbags are gone and never come back. They are probably dealing drugs or setting up prostitutes!

YES... please do watch your back!!! I would be scared to death! I hope you have a permit to carry...I do and I am a pretty good shot!! I haven't practiced in about a year.  I know I could still hit my target!! At least slow them down.

I hope you can manage to get a decent nights sleep!!!!

I am here for you anytime!

Love and hugs...connie d

Trish and Ladies,

Let me just say that I have been peeing non stop, and I was trying to pinpoint the problem...it's all the water I'm drinking. And, since the students are back yet, I can wear jeans and wore a pair of jeans that weren't too small but were snug and I don't like snug clothes...well...drum roll please...I had to wear a belt because the waist was too loose.  I thought, at first, that I had a different pair, so I took them off, looked at the size, and well, there it was...not the larger pants but the smaller ones...and I am not charged and ready to get this body under control.

And I am doing so much better meditating and still working at my Yoga posses...I will get the bending down...

Well, I'm glad to see everyone making progress.  I cannot wait to read all the progress from you all...stretch and stretch.
