Good Afternoon Ladies....

Very, very cold since yesterday and I hear we'll have a real storm over the weekend.  We've been so lucky to date.  It had started to snow around 5:00 last night, and it was still snowing when I left around 8:30 p.m.  It was very slippery and I was afraid of falling because I had to go down a long flight of outside stairs.  There was a boy scout troop helping with the dinner, so I asked if someone could help me to my car that was parked way down at the corner - so two scouts helped this old hag to her car.

Had p/t this morning....and this afternoon the cable guy is coming here to check the signal.  I did cut back on my tv portion of the cable....my bill was around $230 and is now going to be $160. Once I get the antenna set up, I'll get rid of cable and phone and just pay for internet - around $65

I just put on a youtube video to try to practice my crochet stitches...

Gotta go, cable co. just called to see if they can come early, so I've got to put Pookie in his crate.

Will check in later!

Mary,

We cut out our cable too because we watch more netflix and amazon prime than we do regular TV...Plus, we can watch everything on line a day later.

Be careful in this cold weather.

Good morning Vickie and OFF-

I was up early to count birds today but didn't make it to the refuge, the biologist didn't leave the survey kit or a vehicle for me.  Oh well, I sent him a text and came home.

Finally got the Christmas stuff down and packed up.  Repairing a china angel that I have and polishing brass angel candle sticks before putting them away.  The repair company came to pick up the chair that was broken in the move.  Gave them three other chairs to repair as well so another thing off the to do list.

Vickie the beet experience reminds me of my zuchinni chip exercise.  A lot of work slicing thinly, mandolin definately would help with consistent thickness.  I found that I would just stick the thicker ones back in the oven to cook longer.  And as Linda says a lot of work for so so result.

Not much else to report.  Have to go out and buy my lottery ticket just in case.  I would hate myself if I found out someone in Texas had won and I hadn't even tried. Gotta teach water fitness again tonight.  After two night in the pool my back is already feeling better.

Thoughts and hugs to all of you!

I have been out to your refuge, I think.  I can't remember the spelling so I write it phonetically, is it Anawhack?  If so I really like that place.  What birds are there now?

Just a quick check-in here.  Nothing exciting going on.  Found my Amazon gift card, and I'm in the process of ordering a few new Fitbit bands, and another bird feeder.  Paid some bills, and ordered Christopher's birthday present too.  I got him two books he had on his Amazon Wish List, and a 5 pound bag of Gummi Bears, his favorite candy.  His birthday is at the end of the month.

I have a movie I want to watch and some DVRed TV shows.  Till my foot gets better, I have nothing else to do.

Must scoot.

Hugs,

Trish

Good afternoon Vickie and everyone.....

Vickie......I do not like beets either...they taste like dirt to me. I won't eat Okra....it is too slimy. Other then that I love all vegetables!! I am trying to eat more. How are you getting your protein in? This is the part that concerns me about going without chicken or turkey. I am told not to have fish or seafood more then twice a week. Do veggie have enough protein??

Jeannie..you go ahead and jump in anytime about the veggie's and  protein too.

I need to get in 80-90 grams a day. My doctor says...again....just a couple weeks ago...no less the 28-30 grams per meal. Too much protein is just as bad for us as our bodies can't absorb it all.

My cleaning fairy is here now. She is doing her magic!! She hadn't been able to do everything because the kids have been here with all their things around. Smells good now!!

I hope you all have a good rest of the day. I am going to rest now.

Prayers for our wonderful OFF Family and their families.

Loads of love and hugs to all.....connie d

Connie,

I get more than enough protein in through the various beans, peas, and tofu.  I make a lot of veggie burgers  and we eat those just like we would eat a steak...with some other veggies. We also eat a lot of grains that have a lot of protein in them...then, there's aways an egg, cheese, and yogurt.

I usually eat fish or seafood three times a week and will cut that out soon. I'm going to make my menu for today in just a second and post how many grams of protein that I took in...I just have to figure it out first.  There are some products available that are so tasty and filling with few calories and loaded with protein. I will post some about those and Vic can chime in too. She has a lot of experience with many of those products.

Look for another post later on tonight.

Vic and Ladies,

I am finally home and about to cook. We are having fish (maui maui) and green beans and baked beets. Vic's tales of making beet fries made me hungry for a little cooked beans and onions so that's what I am making too.  Beet veggie burgers are very tasty.

I have ran non-stop all day long. We are getting new computers in our lab, so I had to make sure all the tutors saved all their desk top files in our shared university drive and you would think they would all know how to do that...they are, after all, digital natives...but they forget and so I have to show each one.  I am so tired to talking.

I'm going to run around the board and read everyone's comments and make quick comments and then off to cook. Vic, the scales they are a moving...that's great news.  You and Eileen are doing fantastic.   We old post ops will have to show these younger post ops how to kick weight gain in the butt.
