Good morning ladies....I just stopped in to say hello.  Another not so good day. Temp now is -9 with a windchill of -26. I have to go get groceries. I am not looking forward to going out again today. If I didn't have to go I wouldn't!

I really have no other news to share. Have a great rest of the day.

I will check in later but not sure I will reply. I am having a difficult time typing this.

Prayers for our wonderful OFF Family and their families.

Much love and many hugs to all....connie d

I'm heading to Modesto for a pedicure. I'm stopping at Hobby Lobby to look for some more Copic coloring pens. There are colors that I would like to have that I don't. I am better today, making decisions to lease my anxiety. That is always a good thing to do.

Hope you are all doing well...

Good Afternoon Connie and OFF,

It's cold out there.  Wind chill is 0 degrees.  Got more snow, and had to clear my sidewalk this morning, to get to the driveway.  Had my appointment with my hematologist this morning, and learned that they didn't test my blood iron last week, when they ordered my blood work.  So, they had to draw more blood, and I wait to learn if my iron has dropped.

I've had several days of diarrhea and I hate it.  I have no other symptoms, and should probably just do some clear liquids, and have some rice and applesauce for dinner.  Just thought of that after eating a regular lunch.

I'm going to wash a few dishes and then crash with my crocheting and some movies.

Must scoot.

Hugs and Prayers,

Trish

Hi Connie and my OFF family:

Sorry I've been AWOL lately. I have been really busy with work. And I've had this crappy cold. I thought I was getting it Thursday, but then felt better Friday, so I went to the pool. Well, Friday evening, I started coughing again and felt miserable as the night went on. Saturday, I was even worse. Last night was the worst. I didn't sleep well Sunday, so I was drowsy Monday. I got in a half-hour nap but it was really not enough. My eyes hurt; my eyelids were swollen and red. And of course, we had to wait for the college football championship to finish, and it took forever (started at 7:30, didn't finish til nearly 11:15). I had to get it into both papers, had to adjust it for the Henderson paper. It was a mess. I got home at 12:45 a.m. Plus, we had 3 inches of snow, and here, that's like a foot ... we had an early press run on Sunday. So again, didn't get enough rest on Sunday.

Anyway, that's my life. Today is my only day off, because I promised to work an overtime day because we have two people off on vacation (they're married to each other and planned this vacation months ago). The money will be nice but it's just bad timing.

Now, for the good news: I've lost 7 lbs. since I started logging on MyFitnessPal and exercising. Now, granted, I haven't gone to the pool since I've gotten this cold (I believe in keeping my germs to myself, although I'm going to work, obviously, but we are so short-staffed and I don't have a fever, so off I go) but I have logged in every day. And with the exception of a few days, I've kept within my calorie goals. When I get rid of my cold, I'll get back to the pool.

I haven't even had a chance to read most of the posts. But I'm not going out today; just doing laundry and staying inside, maybe watching a movie or two with my brother.

Have a good day.

Hello sweet sistas!

Oh, my, I really do feel for you gals who are dealing with the freezing temps and snow and ice!  How awful that must be!  I know it's a trade-off, because I then deal with triple digit heat in the summer, but I think would rather be hot than cold!  It is warm and sunny here today and I have the back door open for the puppies to just run in and out.  Anyway, wishing you all warmth and coziness today!

I have had an eventful couple of days.  I finally heard back from the tax man yesterday.  I knew it was coming and I knew it was going to be bad--and it was.  Is.  Whatever.  I owe thousands of dollars.  Crap.  When Butch got sick, we just let everything go, and that included taxes.  We never did that before--which is indicative of just how much stress we were under--and now I'm paying for it.  Sigh.  This is some scary **** you know?  I'm not working and money matters are more than a little stressful for me right now.  (I trust you, Jesus.  I trust you, Jesus.)

Anyway, after that phone call, I drove down to the corner store to buy a couple of power ball tickets (Mom wanted them), and dammit it all, I bought a Butterfinger and a Coke!  I was stressed and upset and what did I do?  But I tell you, I was immediately sorry after I ate the Butterfinger, and I didn't take more than a couple of sips of the Coke, and then I threw it away.  But that was the only slip up I made yesterday and I'm doing well with my food today.  Done is done, right?  We just have to go on.

This morning I went to the skin doctor (I have to go every six months) and it was my first time to use my new healthcare plan.  I self-pay and then I turn in my receipts and I get reimbursed after I meet my deductible.  So I did what they said and negotiated a lower price based on paying cash.  Still, it was $195.  Whew.  Doc found three more pre-cancerous spots.  The bane of having fair hair and fair skin!  I'm always sporting spots of varying degrees of cancer. I love getting naked and having him go over my entire body with a fine tooth comb.  NOT.  It's so embarrassing.

Well, after that, I drove out to the lake and I sold our extra lake lot to one of my neighbors.  Thank you, God.  Gives me a bit of breathing room until I figure out this tax mess.  Now I can pay all my property taxes and hopefully have enough left over for a new dishwasher.

So I'm finally back home, after making more stops at the bank, the gas, and the store.  I'm ready to try a new recipe I saw on FB for beet chips.  Like potato chips, only made from thinly sliced beets!  Just a little olive oil, s&p, and bake in hot oven for several minutes til crisp.  I bought some red beets and some gold beets.  We'll see . . .

Tonight I'm making fresh black eyed peas, squash n cheese casserole and stewed okra and tomatoes for supper.  I bought fresh cherries for my dessert!   I may have to make a tiny pan of cornbread to go with my meal, though.  I've never eaten black eyed peas without cornbread before.

To those of you thinking about trying plant based diet, I repeat: I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!  All--ALL!--of my muscle and joint aches and pains are GONE!  This is such a simple eating plan.  It's so easy to follow.  Just don't eat meat!  Yes, I still have to conquer my twin demons of Coke and chocolate, but I would be doing that anyway.

Well, that's about all my news.  Tomorrow is my appointment at the car dealership.  I sure hope they can figure out how to make my smart key work again.  I'm tired of keeping up with that car key!  And I hope it doesn't cost me a whole bunch of money either.  I'm in kind of a negative cash flow situation right now, and I don't like it!  Scary, scary.

Love you all!

Well I posted several days ago and said I would post my new year goals the next day.  Surprise, Surprise, I'm just getting back.  Been out of town enjoying the crisp, cool, weather.  So here are my goals

I want to increase my endurance so I can hike a minimum of 3 miles when I go to Wyoming this summer.

I want to strengthen my core and my legs so I can scamper across the bolders that I will encounter on the trail. Also so I can be in the best shape possible when I have my knees replaced which I think will be in the next year or so.

In order to accomplish these goals I am going to walk at least 3 times a week at either East End park or Jesse Jones Park, starting with 1 mile and  increasing my distance each week.

I will go to the YMCA and meet with a personal trainer at least twice a week to strength train and also to get a set of exercises I can do with the light weights and ankle weights I have at home.  I will do these when I travel.

I don't have much routine stress in my life, just situational stress sometimes, but I like the idea of the coloring, maybe I will try that when I can't sleep.

I am doing well so far.  I am up to 2+ miles walking 3 times a week.  That takes me 50-60 minutes to do minimum.  I mean one does have to stop and pet the dogs one meets along the way.  Today the golden doodle I usually see decided to take a dip in the water near the path and christen me as he shook all over once he was finished.  Came home mud splashed but it is all good.  I leave in 5 minutes to meet my trainer for our second session.  So far today I have walked 9,520 steps, 4.22 miles.

My goal on a walk day is 10,000 steps and on a non walk day 6,000 steps.  I got a fit bit for Christmas and I wear it all the time( except in the bath).  It keeps me honest, for now anyway.

I am enjoying my walks.  Sunny days between 35 and 65 degrees is perfect for me as long as there is no cutting wind.  When the temp**** 75 that will be too hot for me to walk so Texas is not the best spot for me.  As long as we have these crisp, cool days I am in my happy place.

Well, gotta go.  Can't stand to be late.

Hi Ladies,

It is snowing here today and cold so I'm staying inside today. I did go out to the mailbox. They didn't have school here today. I did my exercise this afternoon.  Today I hit my goal of 175 but I'm going to change my final goal but not sure what that is yet.

Everyone have a good day. Thoughts and prayers for everyone.

Love and hugs,

Yvonne

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone on OFF is doing OK.

Connie, wow. oh wow. Except for a brief period living in CT from 1998 to 2003, I have lived in FL since 1972. I could NOT tolerate that weather. No wonder you ache. I would probably be dead having to cope with such extreme weather. Wow.

Trish, hope your internal plumbing straightens itself out real soon. Feel better, dear.

Eileen and Judy, get well soon from your colds. Sorry about the cold weather. I would rather it be hot than bitter cold. Oof.

Vicki, sounds like the vegetarian diet is going well except for the one slip up. None of us are perfect. Glad you got one of your properties sold to give yourself breathing room. I am going to try a vegetarian diet. I want to lose 20 pounds by May.

Yvonne, it is wonderful that you hit your personal goal. My goal was to be thirty pounds lighter than I am. I gave up because I felt hungry, but I have to try again. As I have stated before, I don't like animal protein. And we are supposed to eat dense protein. I would rather eat vegetables like Vicki is doing. At least I stay away from sugar.

Nothing much going on here, I still have that dratted sinus infection. I am at times, so light headed I could just fall down. The antibiotics, the Z Pack, are still working even though I stopped taking them.

Love to all and prayers,

Arlene
