Christmas is put away Monday

Good morning sistas!

The new year can't get here fast enough for me.  I got all that Christmas stuff packed up and out of the house yesterday.  I don't care if I ever see it all again.  How and why did I ever accumulate so many decorations and snowmen and THINGS??? I have a theory that the first half of our adult lives are spent collecting stuff, and the second half is spent getting rid of it.

Well, anyway, today is already full of things to do.  Poor little Budder is sick.  Chris doesn't go into wor****il 1 p.m, but still the first appointment she could get with the Pedi was at 3:15 p.m., so I'm taking him to the doctor today.  I also have to do laundry and figure out what the heck to pack for our trip to Nac later this week.  C'mon, weather, cooperate with me a little bit!  And I still need to buy gifts for Poe Family Christmas on Friday.  I'm only buying for the small fry this year.  There are so many of them!  But I never know for sure which ones will be at Poe family.  I sent out an email this morning asking for a head count.

Sometimes I do buy small gifts for the adults, too, but not this year.  They'll all just have to understand.  I'm not in the mood and I don't have the money this year.

Carrie hasn't felt very well the past couple of days.  Still throwing up every other day or so, if not more often.  Threw up yesterday morning, then seemed to be okay for most of the day, until around 11 p.m. last night when she bolted out of bed and threw up again!  I have never seen anything like it.  I told her she is at 33 weeks tomorrow.  She's almost there!  (But I'd be willing to bet this is her one and only pregnancy.  And I don't blame her!)

I was going to take Lulu to the vet today, but she had a better night last night.  Carrie poked a benadryl down her, and I think that helped.  She (and we) slept all night.  Finally.  I may still take her tomorrow though.

My FB news feed has been full of all the missing animals from the tornadoes around Dallas, and it's enough to break your heart.  Yes, I know that people also lost their lives and that's so tragic, too.  Not trying to minimize that.  But the poor animals--lost and frightened and not able to communicate with their rescuers.  Sadly, the ones who will most likely be reunited with their families will be the ones who are chipped, or who have id on their collars.  If you own a pet, have it chipped!  Only costs about $25 and takes less than a minute.  I've sent small donations ($5) to several animal rescue groups to help pay for food and such.  It's just so sad.

Well, that's about all my news for the day.  I'm running Roomba full blast all day long today.  I missed the last couple of days and the dog hair is wafting around in DRIFTS here today!  LOL!  Four dogs in the house and two of them are heavy shedders!  Looks like it snowed in here.

Love you all!

Good morning Vickie and OFF-

I agree wth you on the hypothesis that people spend half their lives amassing things and the second half shedding things.  Certainly my perspective having unpacked more stuff the last few days.  I don't even want to think about packing Christmas away but know I do.

Yesterday was spent washing Moms hair and setting i****er all over the kitchen floor and a cold sweat for me!  I can't remember the last time I set someone's hair.  We spent most of the day watching news reports about the weather and Mom fussing about me going to Broadway show in downtown Houston.

After reviewing weather radar maps and hourly forecasts the three of us went to Houston.  It only rained the last five minutes of the trip into town.  We drove in circles three loops to get into the parking garage as the usual entrance was blocked off to let matinee patrons exit.  We saw Bullets over Broadway.  A cute musical based on a Woody Allen play.  Weather held up a window for us to drive home with just wind and no rain.

So I had a partial break from Mom last night something I needed.  Only had to worry a bit as I got text messages that there was a power failure at my house.  A friend also texted and offered to check on her but figured that would scare her more than the power failure.

We went out to dinner last night and I have to tell you it was a time of reflection for me.  First it was having to slide into a circular booth which was difficult.  When I reflect on what I ate, surf and turf, there is no more restriction.  Perhaps I need to consider a revision to RNY.  Something to consider in the coming year.  My WLS said no revision possible since my tube would be too small for a pouch, yet based on what I consumed last night has my stomach stretched enough to make a reasonable pouch?

Vickie I'm considering a roomba.  Do they really work on wood laminate floors?  What model do you have?

Thoughts and hugs going out to all of you!

Hi Cindi!

First of all, I LOVE my roomba!  Mine is now 4-5 years old, and I think I have a 600 series, but not really sure.  I have found that if I run it everyday, it does an excellent job of keeping up with the pet hair and everyday dirt.  Like Julia said, it doesn't get every nook and cranny, but it does a good job!  I have a mixture of hard wood, ceramic tile, and carpet in this new house.  Roomba moves in and out over all of them with no problems.  In fact, I am considering giving one to Carrie at her baby shower!  LOL!  Well, actually, I will probably wait until her birthday in May, but she definitely needs one with the new baby coming and dogs in the house.

I think a revision is a good idea.  I think you should at least talk it over with a WLS.  I think you said you have a WLS you see in Houston, but if not, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Garth Davis at the Davis Clinic in Houston.  He's just off I10 and Gessner, right across from Memorial City Mall.  He did my revision from a band to RNY and did a great job.  My regain this year is entirely my fault.  It's not that I'm eating such big quantities of food.  But I am eating lots and lots of slider foods and junk food and sweets and cokes.  I just fell completely back into my old terrible habits after Butch died.  Comfort me with comfort food, you know?  But I will get back to eating right just as soon as this last party is over with this weekend.  I just have to.  None of my clothes fit anymore.

Glad you were able to go to the show last night.  Hang in there with your mom.  Only a few more days.  Love ya!

I love my roomba and it does keep down the cat hair....I also have an air purifier and it helps too.

Okay, Cindy let's think about other options for now. First, you still have your pouch and there is this huge debate about pouches stretching out. We do know that our small intestines get more efficient at absorbing what we eat. So, what we have to do is recondition our pouches.  So, first thing you should do is start cutting back on what you eat...don't rely upon your pouch but go back to counting calories and eating more strategically.  Eat white meat, green vegetables, no bread, no potatoes, and for snacks eat raw vegetables....no glider foods.

Then after a couple of days of eating reasonable, go on a liquid diet for a week...believe me, your pouch will get all touchy again. You'll see. There was a time that I thought my pouch was getting stretched out too but I did a little research and started eating strategically and low and behold I found out that my pouch is still the same old fussy pouch.

After the first of the year, I'll post some information about it so we can all work towards retraining our pouches.

Hi All,

We have a Roomba and love it... We still vacuum at least once a week because the Roomba doesn't get into every little space, but it does a good job at getting the major dog hair and dirt the dogs bring in. We got ours at Costco.

Our dinner and Christmas for twelve is over and the last guests just left. We have dinner for six today...then it's done. Have you seen that picture on FB of a Saran wrapped Christmas tree? All the ornaments and lights are left on...if I had room to store that tree upright I would SO Saran Wrap it!

Today won't be as stressful as yesterday. I hate to wish days away but I really want to be done. I just feel sad.

So it's time to get my butt out of this chair and get this day going! Activity always helps to clear away the blues! It is just this holiday that makes me nut so crazy!

I'm with you, Julia.  I'm sad and I'm sick of Christmas.  I just want it to be over.

I saw that picture on FB!  I thought, what a great idea!!!  I wish I had room to do that here.  I think all houses should come with a walk-in Christmas closet.  LOL!  We could just push our decorated tree in there, shut the door, and forget about it until next year!

Wish you peace and good spirits today!

Julia,

We have a friends get together after the first and that is the very last thing we have to do for holiday crap. Yeah....

The holiday partying, while fun to get together with friends and family, are crazy.

Good morning Vickie and everyone.....

Not much happening here. I am still feeling nauseous. It started yesterday afternoon. I have a fever and horrible chills. I have my heat cranked up to 78 and I am still shaking. I will be resting most all the day.

I did manage to get my totes into my apartment. I was hoping to get some packing done last night. I slept most all afternoon and evening. Maybe later today I will get some done.

Wishing you all a good day. I read all the posts but have no energy to reply. I love you all and I do care.

Prayers for out lovely OFF Family and their families.

Lots of love and hugs to all.....connie d

Oh, Connie, I didn't know you were sick!  I'm so sorry.  Wish I was there to help you pack up your totes.  I would do it in a heartbeat!  You just let all that stuff alone and take care of you today.  Love you!

Thank you Vickie....I am so weak I couldn't pack if I wanted to. If I need to I can have Nic and Stephanie pack it when they get here the 30th or 31st. If I am feeling better!!

There are so many people sick here right now. They never stay in their apartments so everyone gets it.

Back to sleep.....much love and hugs....connie d
