Happy Boxing Day

I don't have a lot of time, just checking in. We have the big Christmas celebrations here at our house tomorrow and Monday. I am still cleaning corners and have to go out soon for pies. Tomorrow we hav between ten and fourteen for dinner and Monday we will have six. We are having prime rib...using a sous vide machine which we borrowed from the  friends who owned the restaurant. It cooks the meet very slowly in water for a long time. We tried it last week and the meat tasted wonderful. I need to get my butt off this chair and work. After Monday I can relax. I love having family over but I get stressed in lots of ways. It's my own issues for sure! I ish I was normal...haha!

It sounds like most of you had nice holidays for the most part. Dealing with mental illness is never fun, so holidays can be trying I know. I do wish the researchers could find a solution to brain disorders including depression... It will probably happen after I die...but I think they will figure it out. My brother is a quadriplegic and I think they will be able to fix that too at some point...but not likely for him.

Geez...I just keep going on and on. You all have a great day! I am off to the races!

Hello Julia.....It sounds like you are going to have a couple busy days. Things always get hectic when planning dinners. After everyone is there you find out you worried all for nothing. Take some deep calming breathes. Everything will turn out great! Prime rib was always my favorite. I don't eat red meat any longer but I do remember how good that was.

I agree....why is it taking so long to cure mental health....there are so many us dealing  with it...some even chronic. I will keep praying.

Have a good weekend....love and hugs....connie d

Hi Julia!

Don't feel bad about how you get stressed about entertaining. I am the same way and it makes me feel like I am not normal as most women seem to enjoy it.

I don't. I usually screw up at least one dish, forget something or over or underestimate what I need. I have Jim's family coming here tomorrow and I am already exhausted and not looking forward to the pre & serve part. I do enjoy visiting, though!

The meat sound delicious. Enjoy!

Hey Kathy....it is only your in laws coming not the queen...or me...LOL! Everything will be great. What you need to do is make simpler meals.

We have lasagna or chili or enchilada's or even tacos with the works (everyone makes their own).  It is all about being with family. The more fun the  better. Remember the garlic bread with all but tacos.  With taco's  we have soft shells, hard shells and chips for those like me that  prefers a taco salad. The list is endless....keep it simple and fun!!

I am sure it will turn out just great.....have a great time!!

Love you ....hugs....connie d

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Quick check-in before getting ready for work. It's a gray, gloomy, rainy day. Supposed to be warm but rainy all weekend. We were busy last night because the designer called in sick ... yeah, right ... he is one of the folks retiring with a buyout and has grandfathered sick time (older folks get sick time, the rest of us have personal time off that's vacation/sick time). I think he was using up his sick time ... but that's just a hunch. Can't prove it. The fact it was Christmas makes it even more suspicious. So my boss was doing design/slot/wire, I was designing my own pages, sports guy was designing his own pages and I pitched in wherever I was needed. Didn't get to do anything for today's sports pages.

I need to get moving, get in the shower and get ready for work. Lots to do tonight. Have a good day.

Hello Eileen......I agree with you ...I think that designer called in sick to use up time. I think it is odd that everyone doesn't get the same kind of time off. Oh well, it is a nice thing to do for the older employees. I hope he enjoyed his Christmas.

Sorry you didn't get anything in for your sports page for today. Good thing you can catch up quickly!!

Love you.....hugs....connie d

Happy Boxing Day to all of you too,

Well, today we are about to head out for a quick shopping spree to get a few little odds and ends.  Also, my granddaughter told me that she doesn't have a good Bible. She has a King James version Bible, so I told her today we would get her a better translation. My granddaughter knows that I am an atheists but she also knows that I support any religion she chooses to practice and even though her older brother has chosen to be a catholic as are their other grandparents, she and Mathew attend a non-denominational church where their friends attend. So, we are going to get her a new bible and maybe a couple of other books.

The boys sent me texts of the huge fish they caught...my brother-in-law and their other grandfather took them out on the river and they caught a bunch of catfish and some bass and other tasty fish. They cleaned them and have them packaged in the freezer for me to pick up when I get them tomorrow. They know we only eat fish.

Well, I need to get off of here and out the door.

Ladies, I hope your day is going well.  I'll check back later to see if there is any news...

Hello Jeannie.....I hope I didn't upset you in any way with my reply yesterday. I was just rambling along with all kinds of thoughts going in my head. It didn't help that I was on my third full does of Vicodin and Flexeril for the day. I love you my dear friend!

That is so nice to get your granddaughter another Bible. She will have it forever. Me....I love everyone!! I don't care what faith you have or have none. Everyone is who they are and that is that!

I love fish...especially really fresh fish!! That is so nice of them to clean and freeze them and give them to you!!!

I hope you have a great day....I love you....hugs....connie d

Connie,

You didn't offend me. That's the beauty of our board, we can vent and others can support us.  I appreciate your support.

Hello sweet sistas.

Personally I am glad that Christmas is over.  I am tired and sad and more than ready to put this December behind me.  I got through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day okay, for the most part.  I tried not to be sad in front of the babies.  But last night I just lay in bed and cried and cried.  Christmas will never be the same for me again.  I'm not saying it won't improve as the years go by, but it won't be the same.

We have the boys here today, but then we have tomorrow off.  Thank goodness.  And it is hot and muggy here today.  We are running the ac.  But the "blizzard" is supposed to reach here by nightfall.  Temperatures will plummet, the rain will start, and parts of Texas are supposed to get record snowfall.  I'm sure glad I live in South Texas instead of the Panhandle!

We still have to make our trip to Nacogdoches later this week.  Both Carrie and I are dreading it.  For two cents' I'd just forget the whole thing, but I made a promise to Butch and I guess I'd better keep it.  He was so concerned the girls and I would drift away from the Poe side of the family.  And truthfully, he was probably right about me.  But I guess it's important that the boys (and Caralee) know their Poe cousins.  I'm just so damn tired of Christmas!  I want it to be over with.  Seeing all of Butch's brothers and sister will make me cry.  I don't want to go through that.

Well, enough of my whining.  It is what it is.

Ugh.  Budder has a poopy diaper.  I'd better go change it before it spreads everywhere.  Love you all!
