It's The Friday AfterThanksgiving
Hello Ladies,
Yesterday, DH and I made a mad rush to my daughter's (my farm in the valley), and we unloaded the foods that I had cooked and we helped heat up the stuff I had cooked and my daughter brought home the day before Thanksgiving and then we noticed that I cooked every single thing...oh wait, my daughter did cook the green bean casserole that we cannot eat because she uses cream of chicken soup....so, when we left, we only brought back our vegetarian dishes and my oyster dressing was all gone because it seems that they all liked it as much if not more than the cornbread dressing with chicken....So, last night, we had veggie burgers for dinner. I didn't bring any of the desserts back because DH doesn't need to eat them and I would only get sick trying to eat a piece.
Today I am going to spend the day with my feet up. I have been over 24 hours without any nausea or other gastrointestinal symptoms so I am happy and I am over the jet lag but I cooked so much over the last two days that I need to let my feet and back rest. Shoot, I remember when I could spend the day before thanksgiving cooking all the pies, cakes, and cookies and prepping for all the side dishes....then, go to bed and get up early so I could start the turkey and later the ham and cook non-stop in the kitchen until time to eat....and never miss a beat. Now, I do one pie, and sit and rest while it cooks, then chop some celery and sit and rest....when did I get so damn old? My sisters, who are all older than me, have gotten where they can no longer do much cooking so before Christmas, I usually go over and help the one that raised me. I help make her pie crusts and I mix up anything that we can do before....she then fills the pie crusts and I put them in the oven...I really want her to just let me do it but she feels that she must at least mix up the pie ingredients. My BIL tells her to stop and just let me do it but she won't give up baking her pies. LOL I will be the way when I am nearing 80...I'm sure of it.
It is pouring down rain here and our parking lot is flooded....we are on top of a hill and for our lot to be so flooded the rain must be coming down really fast.
Girls, I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope you all get to stay in and keep your toes warm.
Hi Cindy.
Amen to avoiding the crowds the day after Thanksgiving. There are some not so pretty videos online of people fighting for items at stores. Not mee. Never. Ugh. I hate when stores promote this kind of behavior.
Hope your weather warms up a bit, or you can visit us in sunny FL where it is still a *****illy (for us).
Take care, have a good weekend.
Good Afternoon Cindy and OFF,
I had a lovely Thanksgiving with Colleen's in-laws, but my Eagles lost big time to the Lions. Since I already know the Eagles suck this season, and I now live in Lions country, I only watched the first half. Dinner was timed so that we started eating during half time. We had seven adults and five kids altogether. Izzy and Lincoln love hanging out with the two cousins that were there. Allison is a year older than Izzy, and Zach is three years older than her. Lincoln hung out with Zach, watching the rest of the football game. I have no clue what the girls were up to, and Frankie was the odd man out, and finally ended up watching a DVD in the finished basement. Beth has a ton of toys, in all varieties, that she got at yard sales, so the kids are never bored there. I don't hit a lot of yard sales, and really need to. I'm going to make a list of what I need to look for when it's that time in the Spring.
I am so annoyed at my sister, I can't call her for a few days. My sister-in-law has an iPad, but couldn't figure out how to do FaceTime, so Mom could say Hi to the kids. Mom absolutely loves when Colleen and I send pics, or videos to Mom's iPhone. So, before Mom and Eileen went to Kathy's, I asked Eileen to make sure she took Mom's iPhone to Kathy's. Kathy would have to connect it to her Wifi, Eileen does NOT have Internet, or a computer, or a cell phone of any kind. Eileen sounded annoyed, but said she would. Well, when I called Kathy to find out when would be a good time for Colleen to call Grammy from her iPad, I found out Eileen forgot it. Argh! When I broke my foot three years ago, I asked Eileen if she would get Internet installed, coz I was gonna be stuck living there for six weeks. She said she would, but didn't do it. I was willing to pay for it. If she had Wifi, Colleen and I could FaceTime all the time with Mom. It wouldn't bother me, EXCEPT, when she wants to order something online, and she's not at work, she calls me to order it for her. When Mom wants an answer to a history question, they call me to look it up. I'm surprised she hasn't been reprimanded at work, because she volunteers for Special Olympics, and does all her correspondence with her work email. She hops online, during her lunch or breaks, on her work computer. She was given a laptop and a Nook, the Barnes and Noble e-reader, for her 60th birthday, three years ago. When Sean started working for Chris' company, he offered to buy the laptop from her. She gave it to him. Well, Monday is her last day of working for the state of New Jersey, because after 42 years, she is officially retiring. Hope she gets with the 21st century soon. I'd love to FaceTime with Mom when I'm with the kids.
Anyway, this morning, a friend took me to run some errands here in town. RiteAid, the grocery store, and city hall. Since then, I have been chilling, checking Facebook, and playing with Utley.
Hugs and Prayers,
Trish
Trish,
I have a sister that sounds like your sister. Mine is a little passive aggressive and she doesn't have internet either but she hates that all of my family exchange pictures online. So, she is always trying to get one of us to print the pictures and I tell her she needs to get online because printing pictures is expensive. She also has us order things for her. My other sisters tell her no, so she calls either me or her daughter. Maybe when she retires she will join the rest of us; although, my sister retired a few years back and she still hasn't gotten plugged into the internet.
Ok it's so easy to do FaceTime. You just click in the FaceTime app and put in the number!!!
Anyway I had a great Thanksgiving I spite of all the food!!! I ate my crazy three bites and that was that!!!
Today I drive up to Ocala to stitch with my buddies. My friend and I shared a hotel room. Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to Lake City to see my friend. I'll drive home Sunday.
Tuesday I have to have more blood work done. I'm having hernia surgery on the 23rd of December in St Pete. I have a reoccurring unguinal hernia. I had it repaired in 2011 and it's back again.
I decided to Fly to see Vinnie. I'll be there for 13 days.
I leave on Thursday.
