It's The Friday AfterThanksgiving

Good morning Cindy, and my OFF sistas,

Cindy, a nice quiet Thanksgiving sounds really nice.  I'm sitting here in a bit of a stupor after yesterday's frantic activities.  Whew!  Having the two boys here really does liven things up!  They were both pretty hyper yesterday, although Benny will sit for a few quiet activities now and then.  Budder is just go, go, go!

We did luck out just a bit this morning.  Christie doesn't have to go in to wor****il 1, so we have the morning to just chill out a bit.  Thank goodness.  I don't exactly have a headache, but I don't exactly feel 100% either.  A let down of all the stress, I guess.

I tried to have a nice sit down dinner at the formal dining room table.  I was hoping the boys would cooperate.  Ha!  Budder was having none of it.  NONE.  He wouldn't even eat his dinner.  He just ran in circles around the house, shouting and flipping light switches on and off.  Benny did try.  I explained some of the niceties of gracious, formal dining to him.  How to use a cloth napkin, what the different size plates and forks are for, etc.  He didn't actually eat much dinner either, but he was proud to sit at the table with us.  The only thing he couldn't quite resist was blowing at the candles.  LOL!  He kept sneaking little puffs at them when he thought no one was watching.

Well, so much for that idea.  We'll try again at Christmas.

I did pretty good all day except for when we said grace.  I did break down and cry a bit then.  It's hard to thank God for all my blessings when the biggest blessing of my life is gone.

It is rainy and damp and so so so humid here today!  Oy vey.  We were going to do that painted pine cone craft with the boys this afternoon, but I'm afraid the spray paint would never dry in this humidity.  So Carrie and I are going to try taking the boys to the movies.  Ha!  I expect I will spend most of the movie chasing after Budder out in the movie theatre lobby.  But you never know.  He's not been to the movies yet.  He might be in awe and sit still for most of it.  We're going to see The Peanuts Movie today.

I have to laugh at Lulu this morning.  I am running Roomba and Lulu keeps barking and attacking it.  The dogs all got new chew bones yesterday and Lulu is convinced that Roomba is trying to take hers.

I'm tempted to put up my Christmas tree this weekend.  Now that I have the space all cleared out, I can finally see where I could put it.  I also have to LOL at all my Thanksgiving pictures on FB.  Every picture shows a pile of boxes still stacked up in all the corners of my house!  Maybe I will get a chance to work on unpacking some more stuff in December.  Problem is, this is all the stuff I have no where to put it.  (That's a terrible grammatical sentence, but WTH!)  I think I'm going to have to go buy more of those plastic tubs and invest in a storage rack for them out in the garage.

Good luck to any of you who are brave enough to go out shopping this weekend.  I myself avoid it like the plague.  Not worth it.

I do love you all so much.  Safe travels to those who are driving this weekend.

Hi Vickie, we were posting at the same time. Good luck at the movies. I hear "The Good Dinosaur" is a good movie, too.

Vic,

I so remember when my grand babies were your little ones' ages and DH and I trying to teach them how to navigate a formal dinner setting.  They would lose interest, mess with the forks, and just be little turds but it did sink in and now they know how to use every bowl, plate, as well as the forks, knifes, and spoons.

I remember taking Baby Girl to the theater when she was just barely one and we did the early show because we knew if she started getting fussy, we wouldn't disturb many people.  When we got there, other parents and grandparents were doing the same thing, bringing the babies for their first movie....she watched about thirty minutes and then fell asleep...which was fine.  The baby will be fine and if he gets fussy and won't go to sleep, the lobby might be a fun place for him....the only problem is that he may quickly pick up on the idea that if the movie isn't entertaining enough, he can go play in the lobby....but, on the other hand, their attention spans expand quickly so you might be surprised.

I have a cat that actually rides on our Roomba...she thinks its her riding toy...sometimes it spins around and she just hangs on. LOL....the other cats hate it and hiss when it gets too close.

Have fun with the boys.

Hi Vicki,

Your pie recipe sounded wonderful. Thank goodness I don't like to cook or i would be at the store buying the ingredients. My stomach still hurts after eating yesterday. Where I could eat 2 plates of food before, I had one plate of goodies and felt like my insides were about to burst.

Budder sounds like a handful, but he is just a toddler. You are a wonderful grams to him and he sounds adorable. Bless your grandkids.

Sorry that saying grace was difficult. We understand. Christmas will be difficult too, it is such a holy, family oriented season.

Seems like Carrie's pregnancy is coming along. Oof, I remember being that pregnant. Send her our love, please.

Take care of yourself, dear. You are a very lovely woman. Sending my love to you today.

Hi Cindy and my OFF family:

I spent Thanksgiving eating turkey leftovers and watching football. I did unpack a couple of boxes, which meant moving other boxes out of the way to get at the boxes I wanted. I still had more books to unpack! I had to clear out space on my bookcases for the books, so that meant I had less room for my bobbleheads. Have to do something about that.

As I was getting ready to eat, I saw that my SIL had called on Skype ... I must have been in the bathroom at the time. So I called back. It was hard to see me for some reason. But we talked quickly. I got to talk to my mom, which was great, and my great-nephews Ben and Sam, and my niece Andrea and her husband. I had already talked with brother Ed and SIL Margaret and of course I talked with Gary. Didn't talk with my sister ... no big loss there. Rosemary and Matt (niece's hubby) were taking mom to the bathroom when I called, so it was a while before I could talk to mom.

The best football game of the night was the Bears-Packers ... and the Bears beat the Packers on Brett Favre night. Now, the Bears haven't won in Lambeau Stadium in I don't know how long. So it was great. Stayed up til 1 a.m. reading and watching DVR'd shows. And then for some unknown reason I got up at 7 a.m. I'd go to the Y but of course I woke up with a headache.

It's dreary and looks like rain, which accounts for the headache. I have to work tonight, so I'll work on getting rid of the headache. Not going to try to unpack any more boxes today. Just rest up for work.

I will not go to any stores, either. I only have a couple of gifts to buy anyway: for Gary, mom and my four great-nephews. I know what I'm getting for Gary; mom is getting clothes once I know her size; the older great-nephews are getting Amazon gift cards; and I'll get something from Amazon for the younger great-nephews in Texas, probably something Star Wars related.

I did find a couple good Groupon deals for me yesterday, though. Will have to stop shopping for me. One was a 60-minute massage for $29. Looking forward to that.

Have a good day, everyone.

Eileen,

I'm with you on the not going out in this crazy shopping season.  I bought a few gifts for my kids and grandkids in NZ and a few things in Australia; the rest of their Christmas will be their big gifts and those we have ordered.  We went out last year on Black Friday but late in the evening and we bought my DH docker pants for 7 bucks a pair so we loaded up on those and I got an expensive piece of luggage for 50 bucks...it was regularly like 450 dollars.  When I saw it with the price tag of 50 bucks, I thought it was a mistake, but nope...so I bought that.   I hate shopping in crowded stores and lose patience with folks who just block aisle....so it's better for me to stay the hell home.

Hope you have a restful day

Hi Eileen,

Just want to pop in and say hi.

I do love Skype. The only person I Skype with is my daughter. My sister, her computer broke down and she only has a tablet. I wish she would get something bigger. It seems she doesn't need the closer contact like Skype that I need.

Take care, God bless and have a great weekend.
