Hi Cindi B......I haven't been around much either. I am trying to get back to replying as I can. You know how it goes some days are better then others.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:
Gary and I are having a Thanksgiving feast next Tuesday. Then he's going to our family's gathering in Sycamore (west of Chicago) and hopefully they'll get mom out of the assisted living center for the day. I don't have to work on Thanksgiving but it's a seven-hour drive, so I'll stay home Thursday and eat leftovers and watch football.
After talking to my brother and some friends yesterday, I decided not to take work's retirement offer. My boss said they're only looking for two people to take the offer in the newsroom. One guy is 79 and probably will retire; another is 63 and will probably take it because he's unhappy and wants to get out. Plus, with the new company coming in next year, there's going to be more layoffs coming most likely. I'll be 61 next April; Gannet likes to make changes in November. So by that time, I'd be nearer to 62, when I could take early retirement. Things would be a little easier, I'd be closer to paying off my car, etc. So I'll stay put for now.
It's a difficult decision but I can't quit right now. I don't have enough socked away. I've had to pull out too much from my 401Ks in the past.
Anyway, today I got up early to go to the Y. It was pouring rain. I started getting a headache ... so I started to do laundry instead. I'm really tired too. I have a chiro appointment later and then I'm making Waikiki meatballs and fried rice for dinner. We already have the meatballs so this will be much easier (leftover meatballs from the last time). Plus, Gary bought frozen pepper strips. So the prep time won't be long.
Anyway, not much else is going on. Have a good day.

I am pretty sure I have your recipe for those Waikiki meatballs. They sound so yummy to me!!
I am sorry you will be alone on Thanksgiving. I chose that last year. It went well. They make a great Thanksgiving meal here.

I think of you every day, you are like family to me.
Pretty much the same here with the as the old 72 year old overweight ex husband roommate turns situation.
I had to help him with groceries because he had muscle weakness. Why, he explained, but it didnt make sense. He is close to a hundred pounds overweight and we all know what miracles weight loss accomplishes. His choice. Lisa my daughter is getting married in may, second marriage, and she is upset because she lives in Nashville and is having a party afterward at a Nashville event place. There are stairs to walk up, no elevator and she knows her father wont make it up the stairs. She asked him over and over to do something about his health to no avail. When one doesn't care, one doesn't care. Enough of that.
I will be having Thanksgiving dinner with my former SIL Carla's family at one of her daughter's homes in Stuart FL. She married well and the house is absolutely beautiful. I feel like the great unwashed every time I visit. Sending hugs and love to all today.
Hi Arlene....that is so sad that your "roommate" won't try to lose weight so he could attend his daughter's special day. She will never forget that day and him not being there. You are right there isn't anything you can do if he doesn't want to.

Carla....sorry your nurses have such a hard time getting blood drawn. Do they know why you have that problem? I hope they can get some blood from you tomorrow.
I thought you got your eating/stomach issues taken care of. Why is it only 4 bites? Isn't your WLS doctor concerned about you getting in the things you need. I worry about you!!!!!!!!!
As for me.... I am okay. It is dark, rainy and cold...you now how that effects me. I went out to get groceries with Fran. I couldn't do the other errands I needed to do. 45 minutes in the grocery store...UGH!! It was so crazy busy in there. It took so long to get things done!! I came home. It took me 30 minutes to put groceries away! I am sitting in my gliding rocker about to fall asleep. I took a 1/2 Vicodin, Flexural, and Benadryl I fought it long enough!
I am praying all is going well for Vickie. I know she has a couple hard days ahead of her. I so hope she can get it all done and doesn't have it to go back to again. My NIC will be here Friday evening. He will be here a whole week!!! He told me to start making a list. He will get everything done I want him to do. I already know I want my storage locker cleaned out. More for the "Treasure Chest Thrift Shop".
For Thanksgiving Nic and I are going down to Carrie's best friend's (Heather and Rick) home. They are amazing and fun people. They invite me all the time but I haven't been up to it. Nic said, he will get me there!!! Maybe wrap me in bubble wrap and pack pillows around me...LOL!! I already told Heather that Nic and I may be crashing there for the night. She said absolutely...I knew she wouldn't care. I told Carrie if I am not to shot we will stay at their house instead. I just can't imagine riding in a car anymore that day!
