TGIFriday (for most)
OK, so it's nearly 1 p.m. and no one has started. I slept til nearly 10:30 and feel much better today other than my shoulder still hurts (I had a headache but it's gone). Today is the anniversary of a devastating tornado in Evansville that happened in 2005 (I was in Grand Rapids MI then). Most of the news part of the paper was devoted to it today, so I didn't have a whole lot to do last night, which was good because I was so tired and out of it last night. We had three people on the desk plus the sports guy. Three people on vacation (although we're supposed to only have one person out at a time).
So our football games are down to five ... so much easier although we still have to wait for these five games to get in. But ...no World Series!
Gary got his job (don't know if I told you). He has to go through training, background check, etc., but more or less has the job. He's happy. It's the first one for which he applied. He went to a movie and then shopping today. I'm going to get into the shower and have lunch.
Have a good day.
Hi Eileen and all to follow.......
I was out in the yard raking, raking and raking more leaves...what a job! The weather has been very mild for the past week or so, but it's supposed to cool down over the next few days. My friend lent me a leaf blower/vacuum - but only the vacuum worked. I did one section of the lawn yesterday and it was rough. The vacuum is pretty heavy and it takes a lot of work. Today I did the larger section of the front yard. It ended up being easier to rake the leaves into piles, then using the vacuum to pick up the piles of raked leaves. I worked for four hours today. My right arm has been bothering me for a few days, and the yard work aggravated it. Tomorrow I have a small section of the front yard and a small side section and that will be done. Great to be able to do the work...always feel good after I do physical work...but it does tire me out!
Eileen - I missed reading about Gary getting a job....what type of job is it? I'll need to get a job next September when my long term disability ends, but there's not much around here.
I've go to get something to eat - had breakfast at around 8:00, nothing since, except a large glass of crystal light which I managed to knock over half-way through.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Mary
Mary, Gary's job is with a company that drives veterans to medical appointments. It's just a couple days a week and pays about $10 an hour, but it's enough to give him extra money to pay for health insurance and drugs and other extra stuff that Social Security won't cover. Plus, it's not overly taxing. He did a ride-along Tuesday ... they picked up one guy, got him in his wheelchair and drove him across the street, waited after his appointment, then drove him back across the street. Some of the other rides might be to St. Louis, they told him (VA Center?). But this is a way he can be useful plus get paid. He's happy about. He has training to go through and the usual paperwork, drug test, etc. Oh, and don't mention this on Facebook or anything. He hasn't made it official with any of our family.
Mary, there are some legitimate work at home jobs. I have seen them. Depends on what you're looking for.

HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Hello everyone,
Eileen, happy to hear from you. Happy to hear your brother got a job. Sad about the anniversary of a horrible event.
Mary, take care of yourself, don't overdo it. Sounds like a huge job raking up all those leaves. I am exhausted just listening to you. But then, I am older than you are.
Take care of yourselves. Sending love.
I just want to smack some people from 'As the apartment turns living with the ex from eons ago.'
Today is his birthday (big whoop) and my daughter is sad that no one made a big deal out of it. One gets out of life what one puts into it. If one was selfish, as he was in the past, people tend to ignore it. His sister MAY have him for dinner Sunday with a cake, she is considering it. But he has always been a big, oooh this is my birthday kind of person, ooh what did I get for my birthday.
I am so sorry I am being *****y about it, but I am supposed to care? I don't think so. I did pray to God to forgive me for my attitude, because I am not a mean person.
To all the people to come and to Eileen and Mary, sending much love and best wishes. Be well, everyone.
Evening Eileen and OFF,
I am sick, but managed to get a few things done today. This time it's acute bronchitis. Yippee. NOT. I was supposed to go to Frankenmuth with a friend, to celebrate our November birthdays, but too sick.
Found out good friends, who are missionaries, are going to be grandparents. As soon as I finish the blanket I'm making for my newborn great-niece, I'll start one for their new grandchild.
Must scoot.
Love,
Trish
