Rainy Thursday
Good morning sistas,
So a new day dawns with gray ominous clouds everywhere. We are in for a few days of potentially torrential rains in South Texas. We need the rain, but it's going to screw up my plans for working on the lake house this weekend. Most of what's left to do there is outside. My BIL already texted to say he's not coming up from Houston to work on Saturday. I can't blame him. There's no point in making the trip if we can't work outside.
I do still have to make another trip out to the lake house today. For one thing my car is there. I drove the truck home last night since it was loaded with pieces of the fort. And I can work inside. I need to finish painting the dining room and I can clean. I will go and do what I can today. Then, what with the rain and all, I might have the next 3 days off to sew.
BUT, the first thing I have to do this morning is go to the bank! Not sure how many of you saw my late night post last night, but the dog ate my money!!! That damn Maybelle. She climbed onto a box that was next to the dresser. Then somehow she nosed open a oak chest/box that was Butch's place to keep his keys and stuff. I had $1K hidden in there for emergencies. The damn dog somehow pulled that plastic envelope out of the oak box and proceeded to chew a $100 bill to pieces!!! Oh, I could have just killed her last night. (I didn't, of course, but I didn't let her sleep in the bed with me last night!)
So I gathered up all the pieces and I'm planning to go to the bank this morning and hopefully they will exchange the pieces for a new $100 bill. I can't be the first person to have mangled cash. There must be some mechanism in place for accepting bills that are torn or too worn to use anymore. There is one pretty good sized section and then a bunch of little pieces, but it's all there. Maybelle didn't swallow the pieces; she just shredded them.
Well, one more day in hell at the lakehouse and then I can relax for a few days. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can . . .
Love you all dearly. Thank you for the sweet notes on FB!
It is a stay at Vinnies house today and cuddle her today!!! She is sick. So mommy is going to work and Grammy is playing mom...!
Vin has a fever, cough, and congestion. I hope I don't end up sick! I'll increase my prednisone and hope for the best!!
It is 20 degrees cooler here today. Sun isn't shining. So gloom is setting in. I think my time has come to go home!!!
maybe Tuesday we can leave to go home!

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:
Vickie, take it easy today ... don't try to do so much. If you can't do it because you are overcome with grief, get in the car and leave. Go home and pour yourself a glass of wine or have some tea and relax. Don't overdo.
I am having a fibro flare or something. I'm in so much pain today. Don't know why ... didn't do anything stressful yesterday. I got up early to go to the Y but I should've just stay in bed because I'm so tired and achy. Already took a vicodin and am skipping the Y because I just can't do it today, that's how tired I am. If I had any more off time available, I'd call in sick (I have one day, but I'm trying to save that in the hopes I can get off for a long weekend the Sunday before Christmas).
If you're on FB, you know what my great brother did yesterday, if not, I'll tell the story here. We went out to Outback for dinner last night; he treated. He was talking like he was going to leave the tip on his debit card, so I didn't think anything of it when he didn't leave any money on the table. Well, we got home and we were barely in the door when he said, "Oh **** I forgot to leave the waitress a tip. I have to go back." (It wasn't that far away. And even if it was, I think he would've gone back.) We had a very nice waitress, too. So he got back in the car, drove back to the restaurant and the waitress was standing at the door with the hostess. She said she wondered what she did wrong. "I thought we were getting along so well," she said with a smile." No, Gary told her, he just forgot. She said she was surprised he came back. He gave her the tip and she gave him a hug. I'm sure she never expected someone who "stiffed" her to returned with the tip. There are many reasons I love my brother ... this is one of them. He is so honest and has so much integrity.
Vickie, as for the $100 ...tell the banker the dog ate your emergency fund!
Carla, I'm glad you're feeling better ... now don't get sick!
I'm feeling a nap coming on.
Sorry your fibro is flaring up. Take care of yourself.
It was very nice of your brother to drive back to the restaurant to give the waitress her tip. In that situation, I would have probably done the same.
I agree with you regarding Vicki; she needs to have some down time to decompress. Always busy busy. Sometimes when we are hurting inside we do need the time to regroup and take baby steps.
Hi, everyone.
Connie asked me to post a note for her letting you know she got her Prevnar pneumonia shot today and her arm is swollen and her tummy is upset so she is going to take it easy and rest today and may not make it here on OFF. But, she wants you to know she's taking care of herself and resting and that she is thinking of and praying for all of you. She will check in later if she can.
Well, the roofers are here and it's noisy as all get out in here. You would think they were dropping heavy items from 20 feet above the roof for the way it sounds. But, we are glad they are here. The weather is supposed to be good tomorrow as well so hopefully they'll be here then. I'm guessing there is at least a week and a half of work to be done. We're supposed to have rain showers next week. Here's hoping we have good enough weather that they can get our project done before the real bad weather hits. There are just two guys up there.
I guess I'll grocery shop tomorrow morning. Was thinking of doing that today but didn't get going early enough this morning to do it.
We had one of those nights last night where we were all up (hubby, I, and the dog) for a while so I was tired this morning and therefore a bit lazy.
Ah, it's so nice out today. Mild temp. No wind. Sunny. Just very nice. Hubby took the dog for a walk which they both enjoyed.
My thoughts are with Vickie today as she spends time at the lake house painting and such. I can't imagine how tough that must be.
Hugs and kisses to everyone. Hope you have a good day.
