Senior moment Sunday

Good morning sistas!

I just have to LOL at myself this morning. Really I do. I got up and decided to take a bath. Y'all remember that this house has one of those walk in tubs? So I sat on the bench, turned the water on, and started to scroll thru my emails on my phone. Several minutes later I looked up and realized that the water was still around my feet! I forgot to put the stopper down! Honest. You can't make this stuff up.

I finished pita's quilt last night! I will add some pictures in a little while. I think it turned out very well. I made a few beginner's boo boo's, but nothing I couldn't correct. I still need to wa**** to get rid of the chalk markings I made for the quilting pattern, but it's done!

I think today I will make another memory bear. Or a memory pillow. Or both!

We didn't get nearly as much rain as they predicted. I think it mostly stayed along the coast. Hope our Cindi B stayed high and dry.

I did a little better with my eating yesterday. That morning pro Joe drink just sets me up for success.

Thinking about you all. Praying for Judy and her mom. Love you all!

Hey Vic and Ladies,

I am about to get the kids ready to take home; I have no idea what kind of mood my daughter will be in. I did manage to get some of my kitchen cleaning done but to be honest, between cooking for the kids and cooking with the kids I seem to make more of a mess than I do when it's just DH and me.

We got the kids a few snacks that we don't dare keep in the house and when I got up this morning, I noticed the dip container on DH's table and pieces of chips around the table and chair...yes he did. When he woke up, I said, hey, did you eat any of those chips and he said, just a couple...then my grandson said, well, actually, he ate more than a little....so his sugar is up today. He admits it's his fault.

My right knee, the one that has the ligament transplant, is starting to swell again. By five or six, it is three times the size of the left knee, so as much as I hate it, I am going to make the appointment to get the knee replacement surgery. I sure do hope it isn't a horrible experience. My brother has done wonderful with his and even said he is having the other knee done after Christmas. I think it is a crap shoot.

Well, I have a little good news...my skinny pants fit again...not as loose as they were but they are not so tight they are eating my skin alive...so I guess I may have dropped another pound or two. I'll take it. You know, I think getting rid of bread and all the chips has helped me more than anything else but the pescatarian sure has made me feel better.

Vic, you were right on about the shrimp stew...we didn't have one drop left and my picky eater grandson ate two bowls full. I thought we would have some for tonight but no way. Tonight, I will make some broccoli soup...it's definitely soup weather.

Well, let me get the kids around so we can head down the mountain...taking them home is about a five hour round trip ride and I want to be back before dark.

Ladies, have a good day.

Oh, good! I'm so glad your family liked the shrimp stew! It's definitely one of my favorites.

My husband had the knee replacement surgery and he did quite well with it. His knee never was 100% the same as when he was younger, but it definitely didn't pain him anymore after the surgery. He said it was well worth it.

It's cool here this morning, and I woke up in the mood to bake. Something warm and yummy with lots of cinnamon! LOL! Thought I would share this recipe with y'all. It's super easy and no kneading! You can also make this as "regular" bread. Just reduce the sugar to 3 TB, and omit the raisins and cinnamon. And you can sub up to half the white flour with whole wheat flour if you prefer.

No Need to Knead Cinnamon Raisin Bread

1 c. scalded milk

5 TB sugar

1 tsp salt

1 1/2 TB butter

2 pkg dry yeast

3/4 c. warm water

4 c. sifted flour

1 TB cinnamon

1 c. raisins, softened

Scald milk. Sprinkle yeast over warm water to soften.

Combine scalded milk, sugar, salt and butter in blender and blend for a few seconds. Remove lid from blender and allow milk mixture to cool a bit. Add yeast and warm water and blend another few seconds.

Meanwhile, soak raisins in a little ho****er to soften and plump up. Drain before using in dough.

Sift flour and cinnamon into large mixing bowl. Pour lukewarm milk mixture into flour and stir to mix well. Next, stir in raisins, mixing well. Cover bowl with a clean damp towel and set bowl in a warm place to allow dough to rise for 45 minutes.

Stir dough down and beat vigorously with spoon for a few minutes. (This takes the place of kneading, so do it well.) Turn dough into a greased 1 1/2 qt casserole. Cover with damp towel again and let rise in warm place for about an hour.

Bake in preheated 375 F oven for 1 hour. Let bread cool in casserole dish for 15 minutes, then turn bread out onto a rack to finish cooling.

Vickie, LOVE the quilt. You did a beautiful job. It looks soft. Is the underside flannel?

Thanks, Cindy! It's fleece on the back side. I was going to use Minky Dot, but couldn't find the right color. But I think the fleece is just as good--warm and soft next to baby!

Vickie, what's Minky Dot?

Cindy, it's a really soft velvety fabric that is popular for baby things right now. The fabric has little raised "dots", hence the name: Minky Dots.
