The Transplant
I wanted to let you all know that they took Kenny into the OR at 7:45 and they just finished. They had trouble keeping his iris from collapsing, which happened last time too. His prostate medication messes with his eye in some way that causes the iris and cornea to adhere together...they had to put a ton of air over and over to separate them and finally, it happened so all is good. He will spend two hours in the recovery room and we can go back to the hotel...His eye doctor is going to come to the hotel tonight to check on him...he is the sweetest man. Tomorrow morning, we are back here for the doctor to check the eye and it has attached and the iris is acting right, we can go home. Yeah. If not, another surgery tomorrow. I am ready to go home and am reminded of how many hours our poor Vic spent in and out of hospitals and finally in hospice. I hope you are all doing well. I am grading papers and answering emails and putting out fires....
Hello Jeannie....I am glad you posted. I have been wondering how things were going.
Kenny sure was in OR a long time. I am happy they finally were able to finish up. I hope he will be seeing great soon and no further surgery is needed tomorrow.
I will be waiting to know how tomorrow goes.
I love you....hugs.....connie d
Jeannie,
Thought about you and Kenny several times yesterday. So glad to read your post this morning. What a wonderful thing it will be for your husband's sight to be restored! It will make the pain of going through these procedures all worth it in the end. And, yeah, it sucks waiting and waiting in the hospital. Home is best.
