Well, I'm trying to do better on my program, so I'm trying to add new items and/or trying new recipes, etcHome Made Yogurt - Yep, I finally made it. I scored this yogurt maker at the Salvation Army store for $2.99. So very simple to make. I used 2% milk, but you can use whole milk, non-fat skim milk, or 1%. I also read you can use Almond Milk. Just bring the milk up to 110-115 degrees, let it set to room temperature, then stir in two tablespoons of plain yogurt with live active bacteria (Fage). Pour the mixture into the little jars, turn machine on for 8-10 hours (I did 10 hours), then refrigerate at least one hour before enjoying. I added some strawberry sugar-free syrup. Delicious! Here's how to make it in your crockpot. I have a variety of Torani and Davinci sugar-free syrups to add as flavorings. You can also add non-fat powdered milk to thicken the yogurt
Yesterday, Connie mentioned she made spareribs and they were delicious. I l.o.v.e. spareribs! I have this pressure cooker that a friend posted about two weeks ago - it's a combination pressure cooker/crockpot/rice cooker, etc. I've had this sitting in a closet for two years, but I'm going to pull it out and make some spareribs--I have to find a recipe for a low sugar b-b-q sauce first.
Next goals - find a good meatloaf recipe, and some recipes for scallops and/or shrimp.

Hey Mary,
I used a yogurt starter kit and made a ton of yogurt. My friend also makes his own. On our property down the mountain, there are a ton of black berry bushes and wild plum trees. So, I usually have the kids pick me a bushel of the plums and few pans of black berries. My DH loves eating the black berries but they only stay fresh a short time, so I cooked them down and made him some diabetic jelly and then with the rest, I made blackberry sugar free syrup. I canned it in little jars and my friend is using some of the syrup I gave him to flavor up his yogurt. I also made gallons of plum juice and some plum syrup, which he is using in his yogurts. Well, a couple of weeks ago, he ended up with five gallons of fresh goat milk and about two gallons of fresh unprocessed cow's milk with the cream floating on top. We had so much fun making butter, and yogurt, and cheese. Well, he used all those syrups and put the yogurt in these little jars with cute lids and he has been selling them off of a food truck that another of our friends runs. He said the folks are requesting the plum and/or blackberry yogurt quicker than he can make it. He just bought all those gallons of juice that I had left so he could continue selling his secret yogurt. Since he has the yogurt making down to a science, I no longer have a desire to make my own and he keeps DH and me in yogurt.
I, too, love ribs and the more tender the better. I am cooking chicken in the crock pot today and it will be so tender it will melt off of the bones. I am using the meat for about a week's worth of lunches for DH after his surgery and the broth is going in ice trays to be frozen and bagged for those moments when I just need a little broth.
I wish we lived closer to each other because I have a feeling you and I might have a lot of similar interests. I love crock cooking and it works so well with every thing from processing yogurt to cooking some really good enchiladas.
I also love Kitchen Korner. We need these extra topics to get us to thinking.
