Good Morning. We're getting ready to head to the first of three appointments today. Thought I'd pop in and get us started on the daily thread.

Post away, I'll be back a bit later.

Good morning Cindy and sistas,

Cindy, I hope your appointments go well today.

I have a bunch of errands to run today, but I woke up with another one of these damn headaches. I am taking a more proactive approach to kicking it today. I got up, drank a coffee drink, took 2 Advil and a hot shower, and now I'm sipping on a Coke. It's about to let up. I know I'm not supposed to take Advil, but honestly, it's the only thing that works.

I really did nothing yesterday until around 2 p.m. I gave in and took Advil around noon, and my headache finally eased up. By then, it just felt too late to do any "big" projects. So I decided to work on making a memory bear. The first one I'm making is for Pita, but only because her little bear is the only one with with a little dress. I thought I would try making the little dress/vest first. Seemed like a simple start. WELL. The damn instructions have a mistake in them for the vest! But I got it. By then I was seeing double, so I took a break and watched a movie and crocheted awhile. I guess I wasn't paying attention (or else I shouldn't try to do crafts when my head is wonky), and I made a mistake in my counting and had to rip out several rows. Argh.

Anyway, today is more errands. With my mother. Sigh. I'm such a ***** but I really would rather do things alone, you know? But I can't go off and leave her here when it's really a very simple matter for her to ride along with me. And she needs to get out of the house occasionally. And I know it. I just don't want to be with her (or anyone else) right now.

Errands for the day include the bank, the car wash, Han**** Fabrics, and the grocery store. Some fun, huh? Well, the fabric store will be fun. I'm looking for fabrics to make Pita's baby quilt. Carrie already picked out the main novelty fabric, which is so fun and cute! It's Paris and the Eiffel tower and French poodles. Very, very girl. I'm looking forward to trying this out!

And Chris picked the main novelty fabric for Budder's quilt, which is foxes and woodland animals. Also cute and fun, but in a different way, you know? But I'm excited to make it for him. Baby is two years old and I still haven't made his baby quilt!

Both of these quilts are Very Simple patterns. Nothing complicated while I figure this new skill out.

I'll post a pic when I finish the memory bear. She's about halfway done. The head is the hardest part, and I finished that last night. The body is much easier. Do you think people would order these memory bears if I put it out there on the market place? People would have to send me two of their loved ones' shirts and a photo. Then I could make the bear and send it back. I would have to charge a pretty high price to pay for my time. Say $50 to $75? Do y'all think people would do that? I think I would like to sell baby quilts, crocheted items, and bereavement pillows and bears on my Etsy store.

Well, I need to go get dressed and head out the door. These errands aren't going to run themselves. Love you all!

Hello Vickie....I am so sorry you are still bothered by those awful headaches. I pray you will find a answer that will take them away.

I can't wait to see your bears. I think that will be a lovely idea to make them for others. That would be such a wonderful thing to do. I am tearing up thinking about it. Please do think about this seriously!! The price is fine for all your time and how beautiful they will be. Budder will love the quilt you are making for him. Pita's will be so cute too....the fabric is perfect!!

I think I know how you feel. It will work out. Sometimes take your mom shopping, sometimes go alone. Baby steps remember.

I hope your errands go well and you still have time to rest and get rid of that headache when you return.

I love you....take care....I am still sending prayers every day!

Loads of love and hugs....connie d

Oh, Vicki, sorry about the headaches. I have them every day because of the air conditioning and sinus issues. I also have weird dreams when my sinuses are to the point of making me sick. You are one talented lady! God bless you. It must be difficult dealing with an elderly parent. My parents were older parents. My father was 74 and passed when I was in my early thirties. Mom passed 21 years ago when I was 45; I am now 66. Feel better. Love and hugs to you always.

Good Afternoon Cindy and OFF,

I'm finally home, after taking my friend to her therapy appointment, and making a quick stop at church to pick up this week's Crosswalk lesson. Crosswalk is our children's program. Now, I'm trying to decide which chore to tackle first.

In case you missed it on Facebook, Utley and I will be participating in the American Cancer Society's Bark for Life. That's where he and I raise money, and walk together. After my conference on Saturday, I have become more committed to raising money for cancer research, and the other services offered. If anyone is interested in supporting our walk, the link is on my Facebook Timeline.

Hugs and Prayers,

Trish

Hello Trish.... I am glad you are home once again. You have more lessons/chores to tackle. Deciding what you want to do first is the next challenge.

I think it is wonderful that you and Utley are participating in Bark for Life/The American Cancer Society. I will check out your site. I just donated to The Children's Cancer Society and also to St Jude Hospital for Children. I'm not sure if I can do more right now.

Have a nice evening!!!

Lot's of love and hugs....connie d

Hi. Back from first appointment of the day. Busy. Busy. Busy. Last minute details before we go.

Vickie, I can totally relate to having to run errands with an elderly parent. I understand the feeling of dread that comes with anticipation of going. Your memory bear for Pita sounds precious as does your plans for baby blankets for Pita and Budder. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished product. As for whether or not people would pay what you would ask for memory bears -- I think they would. There are tons of people out in the world like me who don't know how to sew a lick and would appreciate having something like that in memory of a loved one.

Trish, I applaud you and Utley for walking for cancer. I would be interested in supporting your walk. When is it? I guess I could go on-line and check it out. In fact, I'll do that when we return from our afternoon appointments.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'll try to check OFF from our hotel.

Cindy, I saw your donation. I'd like to thank you personally, so I would appreciate if you could message me your snail mail address.

At the conference I attended on Saturday, I learned the details of how the money raised is used. Much of it goes toward the research on cancer treatment, with many Nobel laureates that do the work. The American Cancer Society also has hotels, in many cities, where cancer patients can stay, free of charge, while they receive treatments. One speaker shared how she stayed in one over 70 days in one year, while she was getting treatment. In cities where there are no Hope Lodges, ACS partners with Extended Stay America, which offers either complimentary or very reduced rates, to enable patients the freedom to travel for treatment. Another service offered is called Road to Recovery, which coordinates volunteers to drive patients to their treatments, and reimburses them for the gas. Finally, I learned that volunteers travel to Washington, and meet with legislators to appeal for more funding for the research we need.

In addition to the meetings we participated in, the high light was one particular speaker, named Andy Cohen. He is 11 years old. When he was two and a half, he was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma. He shared his recovery and treatment journey, and he was so eloquent, and adorable.

Sorry for the long post. The conference involved over 500 Relayers from all parts of Michigan.

Don't forget to message me with your address. I find Facebook messaging a lot easier than here.

Love you.

Good morning Cindy and everyone.....

Cindy....I am praying all goes well at your appointments today!! Let me know later. Love you!!!

As for me.... I went out for my walk. It is cloudy and a bit breezy but not bad out there at all. I think I will put on my comfy tennis shoes and go out again. I want to go down the road so I need tennis shoes. I only had Flip Flops on earlier. YES...I know...time to put them away. I wear them until the snow flies. Winters are so long around here, I just can't give in until I absolutely have too.

I finished lunch and then filled my medicine containers. Gee, I have excitement don't I!!

I wish you all a peaceful day!! I will check in later.

I love you all!!

Lots of love and many hugs to all....connie d
