We r getting shopping done for Miss Sassypants party!!!
Im taking Vinnie to the airport to pick up Our friend Kelley at 1130 Pm! Liz doesn't know she is coming from Denver! It's a surprise! Liz's husband knows!
Jared is taking Liz on a date so I can get Kelley.
My car is fixed for the most part. I have no radio! But I'll use my phone. I have Pandora. So that's ok.
Ill get a new rDio with blue tooth when we get back to Florida.
Not sure when that will be. I'll know more after the 2nd.
Carla
Hello Carla....I am glad you made it there safely.
What was wrong with your car? I hope it wasn't to costly!!!
11:30 PM....you crazy nut...Vinnie will be asleep. Wouldn't it be better if your hubby just stayed with her or he went to the airport himself. Just my opinion.
I think it is great that you will be picking up Kelley and bringing her to Liz's home. She will be surprised for sure!!!! That was a great surprise to do for them.
I am going to rest for awhile now. Very sleepy for some reason.
Love you...hugs....connie d
I had to buy a new battery I thought. Then the next day it wouldn't start again so I had to have it jumped again. I thought it was the altinator or the starter but it was the radio. It wouldn't turn off and was draining power and drained the battery. So 247.00!layer we had to pay for a new battery and diagnostics. I don't let Carl drive my Car only when I'm with him. Not alone.
So I have to go get Miss Kelley!! I'm taking my daughters car cause it's easier to park.
Sending my love and prayers to everyone here on OFF. I love you all. My dear, asking a smoker to quit makes us watching feeling so helpless. Ready, I pray that your husband feels better.
I am in my mid sixties, my older sister died earlier this year, in May. She died after surgery for colon cancer. She worked at a chidrens' hospital for over 25 years, but could never get a colonoscopy? She developed DVT afterwards and died from A clot to her lung. My younger and only other sister smokes like a chimney. I want to smack her it makes me so upset. She is the only sister I have left and I love her dearly. But I can't make her stop. I have begged, folks, and have pleaded to no avail. I am roommates with my daughter's father, as you all know. He has such COPD he lies in bed all the time. And he is very overweight. It doesn't matter that much to me about his health because I just tolerate living with him. We don't say too much to each other because he is never going to be my best or even close friend.
Anyways, I know we all suffered the addiction of food, but the addiction of cigarettes is also a killer.
Hello Arlene.....I am sorry to hear about your sister passing away in May. It is sad she wouldn't get a colonoscopy. She maybe could have lived a little longer. It is hard to know with something like that. Again....I am so sorry.
You are right...you can't make your sister stop smoking. She has to want to do it. It is hard to watch family not listen or care. I will send up a prayer for her and you too!
I remember that you are living with your daughter's father. He is in bad shape with COPD. Does he have nurses and aides that come and help him? Or is that your job...I can't remember. Anyway I hope that all goes well too!
Yes...food addition is bad....so is any addition!!
Have a good rest of your evening!!
Prayers...love and hugs to you.....connie d
Hi Trish and my OFF family:
Lots to finish up at my old place yet ... still need to get the carpets cleaned and the place cleaned. Although why I'm doing this because my cheap ass landlord still probably won't give me my security deposit back. Anyway, got the water turned back on for a couple of days so we can do the cleaning. Carpet cleaners have their own water source.
So now I just have lots of stuff to unpack. Gary goes through boxes and unpacks stuff immediately ... me, I'm much slower. I just make sure I have what I need for immediate needs.
Otherwise, it's just settling into a new routine. Gary went out to see a movie today. I had the place to myself for an hour or so to relax before work. It's another football Friday night, so everything will come in after 10 p.m.
Body is hurting, from the fall Monday and just from the weather in general. I guess I should find some work to do. Have a good one.
Hello Eileen....I have been wondering how you were doing since your fall. Sounds like you are still hurting. I am so sorry!!
I hope you can manage to get that cleaning done. Will Gary be helping you or are you having that cleaning lady come back?
You do your unpacking at your time and Gary can do his. You work and are in a lot of pain. It will get done. I hope things work out well with you and Gary living together.
To night will be a longer night because of football. I hope everything goes smoothly so you get home at a reasonable time.
Love you...HUGS....connie d
Good evening Trish and OFF-
I'm tired tonight as I was up at 5:30 am to get ready to drive to the Common Ground Fair. More about it later.
Trish- Happy that you have a weekend to yourself to relax. I've concerned substitute teaching for additional pocket money however they way students are these days I'm not sure they would survive my drill sargent ways. Or I'd end up sued by the parents.
Vickie I am glad that you are having a weekend of shopping with the sisters and grandsons. I too love the valences for the kitchen they are perfect. I loved the picture you posted on Facebook of the placemats and the threat you made to the first person who christened them with a spill.
Connie- I still have one dehumdifier left I should figure out how to get it to you so you could use it in lieu of AC on the cooler days. We had frost last night and it didn't make it out of the mid 60's today. Great weather for walking around the fair.
Kathy your post about Jim worries me. Did they check him for a pulmonary embolism too? Some of the symptoms you described reminded me of when my cousin through a PE. Didn't you post that Jim's son has lung cancer and is not seeking treatment. I can certainly relate to your frustration with him. I am a reformed smoker so I can relate to his not wanting to quit but really? As Vickie said smoking is the worst. Butch is an example of that. I lost an Aunt to lung cancer. My Dad had heart disease due to smoking. They saw nicotene is the worst addictive drug of all time. Maybe he could try some of the oral medications they have to help with quitting although with his kidney disease they may not want him on it. He's not going to be eligible for kidney transplant as long as he's smoking. Sorry I'm preaching and not being supportive. You need to tell him to get his act together before your surgery for you to be successful on your WLS journey.
Carla glad they figured out the problem with the car. Driving the various government vehicles at the Refuge I've learned that dead batteries are not necessarily the batteries fault. We had one truck that the key ignition was so bad that no matter how you removed the key the vehicle still thought the key was engaged and would beep and play the radio all night long.
Eileen - I hope your Friday night football night isn't too difficult.
I can relate to the cleaning of the apartment as I have to clean both cabins after the movers leave next week.
Well the fair was wonderful. I put a knee brace on my knee and took my cane with me. Walked slowly and rested frequently. I had a great time watching the people. Friday at the fair is school day. All the schools in Maine bring kids to the fair. It's also kids get in free day so there were lots of families of all kinds walking around. One little girl did not want to ride the train to the fairgrounds. She screamed and cried and begged her mother and grandmother to not go on the train but as soon as the train arrived she changed her tune and got on the train.
I got my lavendar sachets, my balsam fir sachets and my tee shirts. Every year I buy a tee shirt with the logo for the year. This year's fair logo was a goat. I also bought some yarn that had been hand dyed with natural dyes. Three years ago I bought from the same vendor and used the yarn to knit a backpack which I felted the other day while I was washing down furniture. It felted wonderfully and I was inspired to by more today. I'll reserve for the next felted backpack to replace the one I just made. The first backpack I made six years ago is starting to fall apart. It was my first felting project.
I must share the knowledge I learned today with all of you. They have oxen at the fair. Today I learned that an oxen cannot be called an oxen until it's at least four years old. It also can't be called an oxen unless it's a steer and has horns. They had some steers trained to pull (but less than 4 years of age) and they had oxen (greater than 4 years of age).
And so with that I will close ladies. Thoughts and hugs for all of you.
Cindi B
Hello Cindi.....I am so glad you had such a fun time at the fair!! Wearing a knee brace and using your cane was a good idea. I love to sit and people watch too!! I also love to watch children...they are so funny!!
Thanks for the information about the Ox/Oxen. One of those things I now know but am not sure how often I will use it! LOL!!
I appreciate the offer of the dehumidifier. I do have a good size one as I have COPD...no I never smoked. I have all kinds of things to help with my breathing. Thanks again!!!
Have a good night...sweet dreams...love you...hugs...connie d
