Wednesday's vow
Hello sistas!
I popped back on and wow! we are having a really busy day here on OFF. Benny is still here, so I don't have time to respond to everyone right now, but I did manage to read everything.
Benny and I have had a great afternoon together. We colored and made bead necklaces and played outside awhile. Then we came in and built airplanes out of blocks. And THEN we did his homework. Yes, HOMEWORK in KINDERGARTEN! Crazy. We practiced his letters and read for 20 minutes. That only cost me about $20, since I had to buy the I Can Read Books on my Kindle. I do have kids books packed away somewhere, but it just wasn't worth the hunt to find them in the garage this afternoon.
So now Benny is in with Mom and she's teaching him how to play Go Fish. So cute. But Mike is home now, so I'll run Benny home in a little while. My busy day is almost done.
Here's a pic of Benny playing Google Eyes with some of the golf balls we find in our backyard all the time. See his necklace and bracelet? He had fun making those.
Love you all! Check back later!
Vickie: I too have a kingsize feather duvet, and made my own duvet covers by sewing 2 kingsize sheets together, leaving bottom end open to slip duvet in, and then either close with ties or velcro strips.
i use the German and Austrian method: the duvet cover, made of 2 sheets, is the only cover used, plus a fitted sheet covering the mattress.....no top sheet, as the duvet cover ( made from 2 sheets sewn together like big pillowcase) is removed weekly and washed. I made several duvet covers from kingsize sheets, in different solid colors to match the bedskirt (stripes also made from a kingsize sheet with a neutral center hidden under the mattress). Adopting the germanic method of using washable sheets to make the duvet cover, I know the duvet cover is fresh and clean as replaced/washed every week. The German way dispenses with a top sheet between duvet cover and you in bed, you can still do that, and only wash top and fitted sheet, leaving duvet cover for periodic washing.....your choice!
I feel that using 2 prefinishedkingsizesheets, pinned inside out to make a big pillowcase, made it easier than trying to cut fabric myself....it is a lot of fabric to handle at the sewing machine. Prefinished sheets , cut and seamed, make it easier to just pin 3 sides, and away you go. Add a few velcro tabs along the open side ( which goes to bottom of bed) and you are homefree.
hugs
